We left home at 11:58am and headed for Dicky Beach.
The weather was very warm, the air con worked beautifully.
Got on the M1 at Helensvale and followed our nose until we turned right at Aussie World, and headed to Dicky Beach.
We arrived at 2:03pm and Marie booked us in.
We checked out our cabin, it was exactly what we wanted. After unpacking and relaxing, it was dinner time, so we wandered over the road and checked out the shops in the small shopping strip.
I picked where I would have coffee tomorrow morning. It was the Giggling Goat Emporium. We continued down to the fish 'n' chip shop which we used to visit in our past visitations. Naturally, I mentioned this to the girl and she said that her mum owns it and still works here occassionally.
Fish 'n' chips were YUMMA.
Our route from Home to Dicky Beach, Qld - 166kms.
We left our cabin at 10:05am and headed for Pomona, which is approx 70kms from Dicky Beach, arriving at 11:34am.
The weather was warm, we headed over to the Bruce Highway. Followed it until we turned off at Black Mountain and stopped at downtown Pomona before arriving at Carol's daughter's house.
It was great to see Dad and Carol, as it had been ALL of 6 months.
We stayed for lunch and chatted etc. We left at 3:00pm and after a pleasant drive, we arrived back at our cabin at 4:13pm.
A great day.
I forgot to take photos. I am getting old and forgetful.
Our route from Dicky Beach to Pomona - 144kms.
We left our cabin at 10:01am and headed for Mary Cairnscross Lookout, which is approx 35kms from Dicky Beach, arriving at 10:43am.
The weather was warm, the route was pretty direct. We headed over to the Bruce Highway, then through Landsborough and finally up the windy hill climbs to the Lookout which is a couple of kilometers before Maleny.
We parked the mighty Navara and walked to the Mountain View Cafe, had coffee and cake and took a few photos of the view which was stunning as usual. We have been here a few times over the years. Photos taken, we headed into the Fudge shop in Maleny. It is now called "Sweets on Maple" and has physically moved 2 shops away from where it used to be. Leaving Maleny we headed back to Dicky Beach taking in the beautiful scenery.
We arrived back at our cabin at 1:35pm.
A great day.
We left Dicky Beach at 9:29am and headed for downtown Labrador.
The weather was pleasant and the air con worked beautifully.
Headed to the Bruce Hwy at Glenview, turned South and enjoyed the drive. At 10:01am, we stopped at Maccas for a late brekky, 2 sausage and egg McMuffins plus 2 hash browns later, we continued homewards.
The traffic to Brisbane flowed until we hit the roadworks but we never stopped, just slowed a little. We noticed that the traffic heading North was absolutely bumper to bumper. It was unreal, thank god, we were going the other direction.
Between Brisbane and our turnoff at Helensvale, the traffic was 'shit'. It was stop, go for no apparent reason. It was so bad that we left the M1 at Pimpama turnoff and went the 'back way' to Home.
We arrived at 12:23pm. We unpacked the mighty Navara and did 'bugger all' for the rest of the day and slept well that night.
We can't wait until we do our next road trip.
Our route from Dicky Beach to Home - 166kms.
While out riding, Marg did her thing back at camp. We visited various shopping centres, eg: Kawana Waters shopping centre, the Caloundra shopping centre, our local shops over the road from our cabin.
Our normal day consisted of me going for a coffee about 7:00am while Marg slept in, if riding day, I would go riding while Marg was on her iPad or crocheting or doing whatever turns her on. Around lunchtime, we would walk across the road to the bakery and I would have another coffee and do a small shop.
It was quiet an enjoyable time and we plan to return next year for a week or two.
The weather was sunny everyday, some mornings were cloudy but by arvo it was sunny.
Below is a summary of our photos, showing our cabin and some of my riding scenery shots.
