Day 113 - Sunday 6th July 2014.

Willowbank to Dicky Beach - 166kms.

We awoke at 5:30am to a cold, (4.5° outside), cloudless, starry sky.
We only had 166kms to go, with a planned stop at BP Burpengary. Marg was excited to go as she loves staying at Dicky Beach nearly as much as she loves staying at Broadwater Tourist Park, Southport. We got up and listened to Macca on the ABC ,before packing up and hitting the road at 7:26am.
Driving along the Logan motorway and then onto the Gateway Motorway was a breeze at that hour on a Sunday morning. We stopped for a break at the BP Burpengary(8:46am), as it has a large parking area. We arrived at Dicky Beach at 9:28am and parked out the front and walked in to check in but I noticed that our site was still occupied, no drama, Marg and I walked over the road and had a coffee to while away the time. We got in just after 10:00am and spent a few hours doing a full setup, this was power and water, full width awning with both ends and side, Marg's room at the front, the Dish and clothesline and unpacked the entire tub of the mighty Navara.

After lunch, we drove to Spotlight, Marg had run short of wool, that problem is now resolved, also topped up with fuel and bought a block of XXXX Gold, as my chilled refreshers had run out late yesterday. Just superb timing.

I spent the afternoon watching the V8s and am very disappointed again that Lowndesy had engine-overheating problems and went shithouse.

Dinner was Fish n chips from across the road at 'Reelax at Dicky' and their food is excellent. Very yumma.

Tomorrow will be the start of another 'Norm' - in the morning I will try to ride, while Marg does her thing then have lunch at home and in the arvo might go somewhere.

Our route from Willowbank to Dicky Beach - 166kms.

Having a break at BP Burpengary.

There is plenty of room at BP Burpengary.

Day 114 - Monday 7th July 2014.

Enjoying ourselves in Dicky Beach - Day1.

I awoke at 5:45am to a cold, (5.2°), cloudless, starry sky and laid in bed listening to my radio.
I got up about 6:30am, while Marg slept like a baby until 7:45am, we are still using our sleepingbags as doonas.
While here, we are in no rush to do anything, so while Marg laid in bed and watched Sunrise, I decided to go riding, so I did. It was cool, I wore my long sleeve jersey and headed off to Point Cartwright Lighthouse. It was a beautiful ride but cool, I arrived back at camp at 10:15am after 32kms. As it was cool while riding I have decided to ride after lunch when it will be warmer.
After showering, Marg and I drove to Bunnings Caloundra, Chemist Warehouse Caloundra, Rays Outdoors Maroochydore, Lincraft Maroochydore and finished at the Sunshine Plaza Maroochydore for lunch.
Back at camp, we walked over to our 'club' (Dicky Beach Surf Lifesaving Club) and renewed our memberships for another year ($5 each per year), I walked back to camp by myself, shock, horror, Marg went upstairs to get re-acquainted with the pokie machines. She lost. Everything is back to normal. While Marg was playing the pokies, I had a nanna nap.

Dinner was Marg's macaroni cheese. It was yumma.

Tomorrow will be the start of another 'Norm' - in the morning we might do something, have lunch at home and then I will try to ride, while Marg does her thing.

My bike route from Dicky Beach to Point Cartwright, Mooloolaba - 32kms.

Just your typical sunny morning.

Georges were there to welcome me.

Day 115 - Tuesday 8th July 2014.

Enjoying ourselves in Dicky Beach - Day 2.

I awoke at 6:25am to a cold, (3.0°), cloudless, starry sky and laid in bed listening to my radio.
I got up about 6:45am, while Marg slept like a baby until 7:30am, we are still using our sleepingbags as doonas.
Yesterday, I went riding in the 'cold' morning, so I decided to ride in the 'warm' afternoon, consequently, there was no rush to do anything early in the morning. Before Marg got up, I had emptied the 'shitter'. About 10am we drove to Kawana Waters SC to do a bit of food shopping and have a coffee at Michels. Well, has it changed or what? Yep, it has. Last year they were in the middle of adding more shops and more car spaces. It is now finished and the new part opened 2 weeks ago. We were very impressed with the extensions.

Back at camp, we had lunch, then I went riding back to Point Cartwright, following the same route as yesterday, stopping for a coffee at Coco's Beach cafe on my return. While away riding, Marg had a nanna nap.

Dinner was leftover macaroni cheese. It was yumma.

Tomorrow being Wednesday is BINGO Day at our 'Club'.

Another magic day.

The whale watchers are off into the 'wild' blue yonder. Well, not really wild.

Just another magic shot, looking towards Noosa.

A Virgin? plane arriving.

I had to stop for this dude.

Kawana SLSC.

A pandanus tree with heaps of fruit.

Shared path in 2012. (no concrete just dirt).

Same path in 2014 - concrete was laid when I was here this time last year. Very smooth to ride on.

Coffee at Coco'c Beach cafe.

I had to 'fight' for a table. Maybe not.

Nearly home, another 'pearler' of a day.

Day 116 - Wednesday 9th July 2014.

Bingo Day - Dicky Beach - Day3.

We awoke at 6:05am to a cold, (3.7°), cloudless, starry sky and laid in bed watched Sunrise. We got up about 7:00am, we are still using our sleepingbags as doonas.
Today is Bingo Day at our 'Club', so we buggered about camp until 8:45am, when we walked next door to the Dicky Beach SLSC. I paid $56 for 2 full sets and an extra $2 for a bowl of chips served at interval. I fired up with a scream of Bingo in the 2nd game and shared the prize pool and my share was $2.50, about 2 games later I let loose with another scream of Bingo, but to my absolute embarrassment, I had stuffed up and missed a number, so it continued and I went into my hole. Luckily, Marg came to the party and won 3 games totalling $45, so we had a great time and only lost $10.50, I budget to lose $58, SO we won. Maybe not.

After Bingo, we were back at camp by 12:00pm ish and had lunch, I then went riding (same route as yesterday), while Marg buggered about at camp. I arrived back a little after 2:15pm and spent the rest of the arvo, finishing off my book "Dick Johnson autobiography" a great read, as I followed Dick when he raced. Marg managed to have a nanna nap.
Riding details: Today 33kms, Dicky Beach total for 3 rides: 99kms.

Dinner was beef casserole and mash, it was yumma.

Tomorrow we will go sightseeing to the Glasshouse mountains.

Day 117 - Thursday 10th July 2014.

Glasshouse Mountains - Dicky Beach - Day4.

We both slept in until after 7:30am to a cool, (6.8°), cloudless, starry sky. Marg laid in bed and watched Sunrise, while I went riding. I rode my normal route, it was beautiful as usual, arriving back at camp just after 10am. Riding details: Today 33kms, Dicky Beach total for 4 rides: 132kms.

After showering, we drove off to check out the Glasshouse Mountains. We started at the south end, which is Mt Beerburrum. I decided to walk the 700 meters to the top of Mt Beerburrum to take photos from the Fire Tower, the views are absolutley stunning and my photos don't do justice to the views. It is the steepest path that I have ever walked, I stopped 5 times on the way up to catch my breath, on the way down, you feel your knees and my usual stride is close to a meter, coming down it was about 400mm. True.
From Mt Beerburrum, we drove to the Glasshouse Mountains Lookout which has a lookout at the carpark andd again the views are great. From there we drove to Mt Beerwah, the carpark is shrouded in trees and there isn't a very clear spot for photos. From here we drove to Mt Tibrogargan for a photo session, before deciding to head back to camp and visit the Northern end(Marg Cairncross Park, Maleny, Montville etc) of the Glasshouse Mountains, probably next week.

Back at camp, we walked over to the Dicky Beach shopping strip and had a coffee and cake, and I also had an ice cream(rum and raisin) before going back to camp.

Dinner was tomato soup and bread. It was simple and yumma.

Tomorrow we are back to our 'norm' (Go somewhere in the morning, lunch at camp, in the arvo, I will ride and Marg will do her thing).

Our sightseeing route around the Southern section of the Glasshouse Mountains.

It looks like an elephant head. Well, I think it does.

Day 118 - Friday 11th July 2014.

Enjoying ourselves in Dicky Beach - Day5.

I slept in until 6:30am to a cool, (5.4°), cloudless, starry sky. Marg woke about 7:30am and laid in bed and watched Sunrise. After brekky, we got ourselves organised and went to Kawana Waters SC for some food shopping and a coffee at Michels. Back at camp for lunch, vegemite rolls, I decided to change my single LNB on the Satellite Dish to a quad LNB. I changed it, re-scanned the channels and couldn't get SBS channels, I did a number of re-scans and still SBS didn't come up, so I put my single LNB back and re-scanned and still SBS wouldn't come up, so I was pissed off and went riding.

I did my normal ride to Point Cartwright, it was a beautiful, sunny, cloudless 20°. Riding details: Today 33kms, Dicky Beach total for 5 rides: 165kms.
While I was away riding, Marg visited the pokies at our 'club' and shock horror, SHE WON about $60. Yippee.
After showering, I was still thinking about SBS and remembered about the factory reset, so I did one of them and SBS is now back with its other channels. Sometime in the future, I will try the quad LNB and see what happens.

Dinner was spagetti bolognese. It was yumma.

Tomorrow morning, we are going to the Caboolture Gem Show.

Action just out of Mooloolaba.

Give me a gentle breeze.

Entering the Mooloobah river at Mooloolaba.

Just another day in Paradise.

The 5th day in a row with NO Clouds.

The bush turkeys that made their nest by the path.

Day 119 - Saturday 12th July 2014.

Caboolture Gem show - Dicky Beach - Day6.

I slept in until 6:30am to a cold, (2.3°), cloudless, starry sky. Marg woke about 7:00am and laid in bed and watched Sunrise. As we were heading to the Caboolture Gem show, we couldn't 'dilly dally' around camp, so we left at 8:35am for the 50 minute drive to Caboolture. The gem show was held at the Caboolture Historical Village, last year it was there also. We paid $5 each, entry fee and walked straight to the Food area, where we bought an egg and bacon roll each. They were yumma.
After brekky, we walked around all the stalls and caught up with Hazel and Jeff, who we met 2 years ago at Cloncurry and we saw them at this show last year, when they gave us directions for Tourmaline in Quartz at Wallangra, near Inverell. As we left the show, I had a nice chunk of Agate and Marg had 3 piece of opal.

Back at camp, we had lunch and while Marg buggered about at camp, which included a nanna nap, I went riding to Point Cartwright. My normal route, being the weekend, there were people everywhere, but the ride was still great. Riding details: Today 33kms, Dicky Beach total for 6 rides: 199kms.
The remainder of the arvo was spent attaching our 'cheap' underwater video camera to my handlebars. I did a quick test ride and it looks like it may be good. I will test it on tomorrow's ride.

Dinner was quiche lorraine. It was yumma.

Tomorrow we are back to our 'norm' (Go somewhere in the morning, lunch at camp, in the arvo, I will ride and Marg will do her thing).

Our route to and from the Caboolture Gem show - 108kms.
