Day 147 - Friday 2nd September 2016.

Southport - Resting up at camp - Day 70.

Last night, we slept like logs and didn't wake up until 8am. Lukey and Jodi's spare bed is comfy BUT nothing beats your 'own' bed. I did many loads of washing. Marg was taking it easy. About mid morning, I drove to South Park to do some food shopping, Marg was quiet happy to stay at camp. I left Marg dressed in her trakky daks and top and expected her to stay in them all day BUT to my surprise, when I got back to camp, she had changed into a dress.

We had lunch and Marg managed another nanna nap, while I buggered about on my laptop. As it was blowing, the kite surfers were all in force with a maximum of 12. I walked over to the fence and took a couple of photos.

One of the outcomes of Marg and I entertaining little Mase is now,
whenever he sees any 4WD he says that it is 'papas'. Papa's Navara.

A very easy no fuss dinner - Mr McCain's pizza. It was nice.

Tomorrow, if we wake up in time, we will goto Bingo at the Sharks. It is forecasted to rain.

I could NOT be stuffed riding today.

Day 148 - Saturday 3rd September 2016.

Southport - Bingo - Life returns to normal - Day 71.

Last night it was very warm in bed and we tossed and turned and pulled on the blanket and threw it off many times, consequently, we slept 'shithouse'. We awoke about 6:30am and decided that we both wanted to go to Bingo, so we did. We got up, showered, had brekky and left for the Sharks at 8:20am. Arrived at the Sharks about 10 minutes later. I brought 2 full sets plus 2 lucky numbers plus 2 undercovers tickets for $50 and we sat at 'our' table. While I bought the tickets, Marg went and ordered our coffees. Marg and I marked the various games and were ready for the 9:30am eyes down with heaps of time to spare, SO we read the Herald Sun on our iPads.

In the 5th game I let rip with a Bingo and won $20, that was it. We both had games where we were waiting for just ONE bloody number and it would not drop. Bastards.

Our Bingo summary after our 12th appearance, paid $50 won $20. At Dicky we lost $44. Our overall winnings are now $199.

After Bingo, we drove to Woollies at Helensvale for a coffee and a small food shop, we couldn't get a parking spot. Unbelieveable, well it was bang on midday on Saturday. So we drove to Woollies at Pac Pines and then called into Lukeys, so Marg could cook a casserole for them. We drove back to camp and spent the rest of the arvo in our fiver.
It blew like buggery all day, we have rain from 11pm to 6am as forecasted. Marg managed a nanna nap while I buggered about on my laptop. Currently, I am amending all my code to display my photos without all the crap that 'photobucket' add. It will take forever to amend all my code.

Dinner was again Mr Mc Cain's pizza slices, while Marg had jam sangas. They were nice.

Tomorrow is Father's day and we have a family dinner planned.

No riding or photos today.

Day 149 - Sunday 4th September 2016.

Southport - Father's Day - Day 72.

We slept well and woke at 6:30am, so we could say 'Goodbye' to our neighbours Ted and Sue, who are heading home. I had brekky and changed into 'cycleman' and left camp at 7:20am.

I decided on my normal ride of approx 56kms. I rode out of the park and headed South to Burleigh Heads Bluff. I made it to the Burleigh Heads Bluff, where I took a couple of photos. The surfers were out everywhere along the coast today, there was a small powerful shore break. I headed back to the North again and stopping at Surfers to take my daily weather photos then headed via the Federation 'gravel' Walk out to The Spit. I sat on my rock and ate my 2 bananas and then rode to Cafe Rockpool, where I ordered a muffin and a coffee then rode past camp upto my Northerly turnaround point at the Lands End bridge, then back to camp. Being Sunday, there were 'millions' of people walking 'aimlessly' along the shared paths, so I rode mostly on the roads today.

I arrived home at 11:14am after 56.9kms.

My riding stats: Today's ride of 57kms gives me a total of 57kms for September.
640kms for August, 1,052kms for July, 681kms for June and 369kms for May and my 34th ride at Southport for a total of 1,658kms, while at Dicky I rode 986kms OR if you are really into figures, I have ridden 2,947kms since leaving home back on 9th April.

While I was out riding, Marg watched some of our recorded TV episodes of The Block.

About 3pm, we got ourselves organised and left at 3:45pm to drive to Sizzlers at Loganholme, where our boys and their families came for dinner. It was excellent to have our family all together. The boys took me across the road to check the Corvette car club gathering. I have a soft spot for the 69 Vette.

Dinner was at Sizzlers. I 'pigged out' on pasta and had a couple of bowls of ice cream, Marg did similar. The food was nice.

Tomorrow, I hope to ride.

8:16am - At Burleigh Heads Bluff - Surfers everywhere.

8:35am - Out the front of Robbie Mc Ewen's cafe at Miami Beach.

9:02am - Daily weather panoramic photo at Surfers.

9:40am - At the end of The Spit.

10:44am - At the Lands End Bridge - my riding turnaround point.

10:46am - Near Lands End - magic views today.

1:28pm - Our view from outside our fiver - rather nice.

Day 150 - Monday 5th September 2016.

Southport - Relaxing and Riding - Day 73.

We slept well and woke at 6:30am, we got up and watched 'Kochie', had brekky and Marg did 'her thing', while I changed into 'cycleman' and left camp at 7:50am.

I rode the same route as yesterday. I rode out of the park and headed South, straight into an awful headwind, BUT I kept thinking that when I turnaround around at Burleigh, there would be a nice tailwind. I continued onto Burleigh Heads Bluff, where I took a couple of photos. Not many surfers today, as the surf was a lot choppier than yesterday. I headed back to the North with a nice tailwind pushing me, it was very nice. I stopped at the North Burleigh SLSC and took a photo. I stopped at Robbies' cafe for a coffee. As I was riding through Broadbeach, I saw the 'birdman'. I had seen him before and he feeds the birds and they sit on his arms etc. SO today, I stopped and spoke to him for a good 10-15 minutes. The magpie in the photo below took 2 weeks to be taught to come and sit on his arm. He is a very interesting guy. I continued on to Surfers, stopping to take my daily weather photos, then headed via the Federation 'gravel' Walk out to The Spit. I sat on my rock (see photo below) and ate my 2 bananas and then rode past Cafe Rockpool, and past camp upto my Northerly turnaround point at the Lands End bridge, then back to camp.

I arrived home at 11:39am after 56.1kms.

My riding stats: Today's ride of 56kms gives me a total of 113kms for September.
640kms for August, 1,052kms for July, 681kms for June and 369kms for May and my 35th ride at Southport for a total of 1,714kms, while at Dicky I rode 986kms OR if you are really into figures, I have ridden 3,003kms since leaving home back on 9th April.

While I was out riding, Marg watched some more of our recorded TV episodes of The Block.

Back at camp, after showering and having lunch, we drove over to South Park. It appears that Michels at South Park has closed business, it is the 2nd time that we have been there and it is closed with no signs. Don't stress, we did managed a coffee at another cafe. We did some food shopping. For the remainder of the arvo, Marg managed a nanna nap, while I buggered about on my laptop. Sounds familair doesn't it.

Dinner was steamed dim sims. They were yumma.

Tomorrow is BINGO. wish us luck.

Day 151 - Tuesday 6th September 2016.

Southport - Bingo and assisting Jodi - Day 74.

We slept well and woke about 6:30am and watched "Kochie". We got up about 7am, showered, had brekky and left for the Sharks at 8:20am.

In the 10th game I let rip with a Bingo and won $30, that was it. We both had games where we were waiting for just ONE bloody number and it would not drop. Bastards.

Our Bingo summary after our 13th appearance, paid $50 won $30. At Dicky we lost $44. Outlaid to date: $650 and won so far: $829, current profit is $179.

Lukey is back at work today, so after Bingo, we drove to Jodis and entertained Mase, while Jodi managed a nanna nap, even though she isn't old enough to be a nanna. . I picked up Mont from school and we left about 4pm and drove back to our camp.

Dinner was Marg's world famous nachos. They were YUMMA.

Tomorrow I plan to ride, before visiting Jodi again, similar to today.

Day 152 - Wednesday 7th September 2016.

Southport - Relaxing and assisting Jodi - Day 75.

We slept well and I woke at 6:30am, while Marg slept on. I had brekky and changed into 'cycleman' and left camp at 7:10am.

As it was overcast and threatening rain, I only rode the short route today. I rode out of the park and headed North to my turnaround point at Lands End, then straight into an awful headwind, BUT I was only going as far as Surfers, stopped for my daily weather photos, then headed via the Federation 'gravel' Walk out to The Spit. I sat on my rock and ate my 2 bananas. I was the only person on the entire length of The Spit. I rode to Cafe Rockpool and ordered a coffee and muffin, then did another 8kms out to Lands End and back to camp.

I arrived home at 10:25am after 43.5kms.

My riding stats: Today's ride of 44kms gives me a total of 157kms for September.
640kms for August, 1,052kms for July, 681kms for June and 369kms for May and my 36th ride at Southport for a total of 1,758kms, while at Dicky I rode 986kms OR if you are really into figures, I have ridden 3,047kms since leaving home back on 9th April.

After showering and buggering about camp, we drove back to Jodis to assist her where possible. Marg and I entertained Mase and I picked up Mont from school. We left at 3:45pm and planned to go to our club for our normal Wednesday pokies and dinner, BUT Marg didn't feel like going, SO we didn't.

Dinner was Mr McCain's pizza slices. They were nice.

Tomorrow is weather and Jodi dependent.

Day 153 - Thursday 8th September 2016.

Southport - Relaxing and riding - Day 76.

We slept well and woke at 7:30am, we got up, had brekky and buggered about camp until 9:30am. Lukey was working from home, so we didn't visit Jodi today.
We drove over to Aus Fair for a coffee and a small shop at Woollies, I had run out of Hokey Pokey ice cream. Back at camp, I changed into 'cycleman' and left camp at 11:16am.

It was windy and I decided to ride the short route. I rode out of the park and headed North to my turnaround point at Lands End, then straight into an awful headwind, BUT I was only going as far as Surfers, stopped for my daily weather photos, then headed via the Federation 'gravel' Walk out to The Spit. I sat on my rock and ate my 2 bananas and watched Sovereign 3 motor its way into the seaway. I rode around Marina Mirage and checked out the fish near the pier. As I rode through the carpark of the Southport YC, I thought that it would be good to be able to walk along the jetties of the Yacht Club, so I asked for permission to enter the jetties and the staff let me. There were some beautiful boats moored there. M.Y Asteria was the biggest boat moored there.
I rode to Cafe Rockpool and ordered a coffee and muffin, then back to camp.

I arrived home at 1:52pm after 37.1kms.

My riding stats: Today's ride of 37kms gives me a total of 194kms for September.
640kms for August, 1,052kms for July, 681kms for June and 369kms for May and my 37th ride at Southport for a total of 1,795kms, while at Dicky I rode 986kms OR if you are really into figures, I have ridden 3,084kms since leaving home back on 9th April.

When I got back to camp, Marg was in the middle of her nanna nap. Later in the day, we walked along the beach around our campsite.

Dinner was dimmies again, they were yumma.

Day 154 - Friday 9th September 2016.

Southport - A very relaxing day - Day 77.

We slept well and woke at 7:30am. It was blowing like buggery, so NO riding today. We laid in bed and watched 'Kochie', when we eventually got up, we had brekky and buggered about camp until 9:45am. We drove over to Aus Fair for a coffee and then back to camp.
Jodi is feeling better and didn't need us today, so it was a very easy day. After lunch, we both managed a nanna nap, mine appeared to be longer than Margs.

I spent most of the arvo, changing my code to display the photos on this website. I was sick of the way photobucket display the photo along with all their advertising shit. Lukey wrote a bit of code which displays the photo without the advertising shit. I am also allowing the panoramic photos to be displayed at 2500 x 550 pixels, when you click on the photo. I have completed from today back to Birdsville. I am amending the code, working my way back to the start of this trip, then I only have 7 years of trips to change. That may not happen.

Dinner was Marg's schnitel and vegies. It was yumma.

Tomorrow is weather dependent.

No photos or riding today.

Day 155 - Saturday 10th September 2016.

Southport - A really crappy day (weatherwise) - Day 78.

Marg slept shithouse and got up about 4;30am, I slept better and woke at 6:30am. As I got up, Marg came back to bed and slept better. While Marg slept, I drove over to Aus Fair for a coffee and a small shop at Woollies before going back to camp.
As the weather was absolutely shithouse, the wind came up and it drizzled off and on, so it was a day spent inside the fiver. After lunch, we both managed a nanna nap. It is never real exciting when you are fiver bound, luckily, it doesn't happen often.

Marg spent most of her time, doing her crosswords, while I amended more of my webpages. I have completed from today back to Wycliffe Well. I am amending the code, working my way back to the start of this trip, then I only have 7 years of trips to change. That may not happen.

Dinner was spagetti on toast. It was yumma.

Tomorrow, the mighty Navara is needed by Jay to pick up some furniture from Super Amart.

No photos or riding today.

Day 156 - Sunday 11th September 2016.

Southport - A 'pisser' of a day (weatherwise) - Day 79.

Marg slept better waking about 7:30am, I woke about 7am. We watched 'Weekend Sunrise' and buggered about camp until 10am, then we drove to Super Amart. We planned to met Jay and Bec there to pick up their outdoor setting. They needed Dad's mighty Navara. As we arrived, I saw Jay's car and parked beside it, then rang him to tell him that we had arrived. We both drove over to the despatch area and picked up their 8 seater table and chairs. Back at Jays, we ALL assisted him with pretty of verbal advice. I commented about "Too many chiefs". After a short time, the table was all screwed together and ready for use. It is very comfy. All we need now is an invite.

We called into Lukeys and he helped me with a 'coding' problem. Mont was at a sleepover and Mase was asleep, Lukey and Jodi were very relaxed on the couch, so we only stayed a few minutes.
On the way back to camp, we stopped at Donut King for a hotdog or two and then arrived back at camp. The weather was absolutely perfect, sunny with a light breeze. We walked over to the bench seat and just watched the world go bye and after awhile the sun got the better of us and we succumbed to a nanna nap.

Dinner was parma with vegies. It was yumma.

Tomorrow, Marg and I plan to drive upto Mount Tambourine to buy some FUDGE and maybe have a coffee.

No riding today.

At our benchseat this morning. See it was a 'pisser' of a day.

Day 157 - Monday 12th September 2016.

Happy Birthday to me

We both slept well and woke about 7:30am, and laid in bed and watched 'Sunrise' and buggered about camp until 9am, when we drove to Tambourine Mountain.
The shops don't open until 10am, we arrived just after 10am and easily found a car spot in the main street. We checked up a few shops before finding a coffee shop, so we ordered coffee and sat outside and watched the world walk bye. After coffee we visited the Cuckoo Clock Nest a few years ago, we bought a cuckoo clock for the fiver and today Marg bought a Xmas music box.
Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that the main reason of visiting Tambourine Mountain is to visit the Fudge Heaven, $45 lighter we left Fudge Heaven with some beautiful fudge and drove back to camp.

As it was such a beautiful day, after lunch, I went for a short ride.
I rode out of the park and headed North to my turnaround point at Lands End, then straight into a slight headwind. I stopped at Charis Seafood, labrador as it was feeding time for George and his mates. Charis feed them daily about 12;30pm ish. I took some photos, then continued onto Surfers, stopped for my daily weather photos, then headed via the Federation 'gravel' Walk out to The Spit. I sat on my rock and ate my 2 bananas and took a few photos, before riding past cafe Rockpool (Kamal and Nick were closing for the day), I kept riding back to my Lands End trunaround before heading back to camp.

I arrived home at 3:42pm after 43.1kms.

My riding stats: Today's ride of 43kms gives me a total of 237kms for September.
640kms for August, 1,052kms for July, 681kms for June and 369kms for May and my 38th ride at Southport for a total of 1,838kms, while at Dicky I rode 986kms OR if you are really into figures, I have ridden 3,127kms since leaving home back on 9th April.

When I got back to camp, Marg was in the middle of her nanna nap. Later in the day, we walked along the beach around our campsite.

My birthday dinner was Marg's world famous omelette. It was yumma.

Tomorrow is Bingo. wish us luck.

Southport - Bingo - Day 81.

We slept well and woke about 6:30am and watched "Kochie". We got up about 7am, showered, had brekky and left for the Sharks at 8:20am.

In the 5th game I let rip with a Bingo and won $30, Marg has improved and won $10. We both had games where we were waiting for just ONE bloody number and it would not drop. Bastards.

Our Bingo summary after our 14th appearance, paid $50 won $40. At Dicky we lost $44. Outlaid to date: $700 and won so far: $869, current profit is $169.

After Bingo, we called into Spotlight, Marg is making another 'Dream Catcher', we had lunch at the bakery next door, the pies were homemade and extremely YUMMA, washed down with a coffee. Back at camp, I went for a short ride, the same as yesterday.
I rode out of the park and headed North to my turnaround point at Lands End into a headwind. I continued onto Surfers, stopped for my daily weather photos, then headed via the Federation 'gravel' Walk out to The Spit. I sat on my rock and ate my 2 bananas, before riding to Cafe Rockpool for a coffee, then rode back to my Lands End trunaround before heading back to camp.

I arrived home at 4:10pm after 43.1kms.

My riding stats: Today's ride of 43kms gives me a total of 280kms for September.
640kms for August, 1,052kms for July, 681kms for June and 369kms for May and my 39th ride at Southport for a total of 1,881kms, while at Dicky I rode 986kms OR if you are really into figures, I have ridden 3,170kms since leaving home back on 9th April.

When I got back to camp, Marg was in the middle of her nanna nap. Later in the day, we walked along the beach around our campsite.

Day 159 - Wednesday 14th September 2016.

Southport - Relaxing and Dinner at our club - Day 82.

We slept well and woke about 6:30am and watched "Kochie". We got up about 7:30am, showered, had brekky. Marg went shopping with Jodi and Mase and was picked up about 9am. I changed into 'cycleman' and left camp at 8:01am. It was blowing like buggery from the North. I was going to ride to Burleigh Heads BUT the thought of the headwind the whole way back didn't 'turn me on' SO I turned around at Broadbeach. I continued onto Surfers, stopped for my daily weather photos, then headed via the Federation 'gravel' Walk out to The Spit. I sat on my rock and ate my 2 bananas, and watched a prawn boat come into the choppy seaway, before riding to Cafe Rockpool for a coffee. I rode back to the river to take some photos of the Osprey. I think that osprey in the photo maybe the baby as it is fluffy. I could be wrong though. After coffee and a 'triple choc muffin' I felt good, SO I pushed into the strong Northerly and rode upto the Lands End bridge turnaround point. From there back to camp was beautiful with a strong breeze pushing me along. Very pleasant.

I arrived home at 11:27am after 43.9kms.

My riding stats: Today's ride of 44kms gives me a total of 324kms for September.
640kms for August, 1,052kms for July, 681kms for June and 369kms for May and my 40th ride at Southport for a total of 1,925kms, while at Dicky I rode 986kms OR if you are really into figures, I have ridden 3,214kms since leaving home back on 9th April.

When I got back to camp, Marg was already back, after a lovely morning. We had lunch and Marg managed a nanna nap, while I buggered about on my laptop.
At 3:45pm, we got ready to head to OUR Club CSI Southport. We now try and do OUR club on Wednesdays, as there is no entertainment on and it is quiet. We used to go Thursdays, but they have a singer and the volume is very loud. SO Wednesdays are the go. Just after 4pm, we arrive at CSI, Marg plays the pokies until 5:30pm, while I sit in the 'bar area' with a chilled refresher or two and update this website, then at 5:30pm we move to the bistro and have dinner. There is only ONE powerpoint available and so far, I have been very lucky getting it. We usually have finished dinner and get back to camp by 6:30pm.
Usually, our friends David and Di join us for dinner, but this year due to many unforeseen circumstances, we only 'gelled' a couple of times, now they are back in Tassie and we will have to wait until next year. Unfortunately.

Marg had Lamb shrank, while I had a pizza and finished off Margs. Both meals were extremely YUMMA.

Tomorrow, I hope to ride.
