Day 49 - Relaxing at Dicky Beach.

It was a warmer night but still cool with a minimum of 15.2°, I think that it's time for my sleepingbag to go away again. We awoke around 7:00am, Marg laid in bed and watched Weekend Sunrise. As the wind had dropped, I started to set up the awning with a front wall and a side wall, to keep the wind out. It was a big washing day, I erected the clothesline inside the awning and I did many loads of washing, by the day's end all our washing was done BUT not dry yet.
During the morning, I refuelled the mighty Navara and also went to a caravan accessory shop, I need some parts for the 'shitter hose', they didn't have any, so I will try other places. Late morning, we drove over to Kawana Waters Shopping World and had coffee at Michels but Rachel who makes the best cappacinos, wasn't there, I asked her boss and she isn't rostered on this weekend, she will be there during the week, so our paths will probably cross. We needed to buy some tubs, so we can wash our rocks, we have just the odd bag of rocks. We also did some food shopping at Woollies.
Just to upset us, it pissed down while we were inside the shopping centre and we got a bit damp getting back to the car.

For the rest of the arvo, I watched the Townsville V8s, Lowndesy was robbed but still managed to finish 5th. Marg went next door to the Dicky Beach Surf club to renew her membership and while she was there, she just happen to test out the pokies. She won. Great.
Dinner tonight was mini pizzas which were YUMMA.

Tomorrow, we have nothing planned, so we are studying how to relax, I think we can pass this test.

Day 50 - Relaxing at Dicky Beach.

It was a warmer night but still cool with a minimum of 12.6°, I was warmer than I wanted to be, so my sleepingbag is now stowed go away again under the dining seat. I awoke about 5:30am and laid in bed listening to Macca's Australia all over radio program. I finally got up about 6:30am, still too early, but I couldn't sleep in, while Marg didn't have that problem at all, she slept like a baby until 8am, then she laid in bed watching Weekend Sunrise, while I sat in front of my laptop with headphones on watching last night's 4 hours of 'live' Tour de France. Go Cadel.
It rained off and on for most of the night, but it didn't keep us awake.

We are starting to relax, we decided that today, we will walk over the street to the little shopping strip and get a coffee, I will drive upto BCF and Gotta Go Camping store, to buy some attachmates for the 'shitter hose'. When I finished watching the Tour de France, I washed the mighty Navara, because it was a mess, covered in mud and grim. Now it is spotless again. The sun came out in the morning and stayed cloudless until 3pm ish, when it clouded over and rained, but before that it was beautiful sitting in the sun reading my Pablo Escobar ebook.
I drove to BCF but they couldn't help me, and the other shop was closed, so I will go back tomorrow.

After sitting in the sun reading, I had to have a nanna nap and be ready by 3:30pm to watch Lowndesy try and win today.
Meanwhile, Marg has been cooking a slow cooker casserole for dinner and the smell has been attacking my senses all day, it smells great.
Dinner was YUMMA and we watched Billy Connolly's Route 66. I love his trike.

Monday 9th July 2012
Day 51 - Relaxing at Dicky Beach.

It was a warmer night but still cool with a minimum of 11.8°, I only used blankets and slept well, awaking about 6;30am.
Our normal morning is taking shape now. When I get up, I watch the previous night's 4 hours of the Tour de France, when Marg eventually wakes up, she lays in bed watching Sunrise and usually finishes watching it when she gets up, so that usually takes us past 9am ish.
About mid morning, we left camp and drove to Spotlight, Marg bought some 'thongs' for her feet which she wanted to add self adhesive glitter things on them, do you think we could find them, Spotlight was our last resort. They had them. From there, we drove to a caravan supply place, I am still looking for some parts for the 'shitter' hose, again they didn't have them. Next we drove to Super Cheap Auto shop, wanting to buy wool sheepskin car covers for the mighty Navara. We tried to fit them while at the shop and they couldn't, we tried 2 different sizes but no luck, so we didn't buy them. Heading back to camp, we stopped at Kawana Waters Shoppingworld and had a coffee at Michel's, I spoke to Rachel who has worked there since before last year, as I praised her about her cappacino, she always makes a nice pattern in the froth. This doesn't happen at the other Michel's that we have visited around Oz. Rachel was rapt, when I explained it to her. Marg said "I was stalking her", probably was.

Back at camp, Marg went to 'our club' (Dicky Beach Surf Club to play the pokies again, and suggested that I should go for a ride, which I did. I rode from camp at Dicky Beach along the various coastal bike paths and side streets all the way to Point Cartwright Lighthouse about 17kms north. It was just brilliant, the weather was cloudy with sunny breaks, but no rain. On the way back, I stopped at a kiosk and had a Rum and Raisin ice cream. IT WAS ABSOLUTELY YUMMA. I am going to try and ride this route daily. Wish me luck, I'll need it. Check out the photos that I took along the ride.

The rest of the arvo was spent relaxing.
Dinner was last night's left over casserole with mash. Bloody YUMMA. Tonight, we will watch the Amazing Race.

The forecast as at today:

Day 52 - Relaxing at Dicky Beach.

It was a warmer night with a minimum of 15.6°, I only used blankets and slept well, awaking about 6;30am.
Our normal morning is taking shape now. When I get up, I watch the previous night's 4 hours of the Tour de France, Cadel lost a heap of time last night and now has an uphill fight to win. When Marg eventually wakes up, she lays in bed watching Sunrise and usually finishes watching it when she gets up, so that usually takes us past 9am ish.
This morning, it was time to empty the shitter, one little problem, I didn't connect it properly and I got covered in liquid. Damn, after the shitter was empty, I went and had a shower, even if I didn't need too. hehehehehe. About mid morning, we left camp and drove to Autobarn to buy a pair of sheepskin seat covers, same result as yesterday, no luck. We will have to get them specially made when we get back to Melbourne, I can sense that this is going to cost us dollars. Heading back to camp, we stopped at Kawana Waters Shoppingworld and had a coffee at Michel's, we didn't speak to Rachel as she wasn't there. We bought some solar lights from the Reject shop to surround our Dish, so people won't walk into it.

After lunch, even though the weather has been overcast all day and threatening to rain, I went for a ride upto Point Cartwright Lighthouse, it was great, not many people out due to the weather. Upon my return, there was a body asleep on my bed. Yep, Marg was having a nanna nap. I showered again and then walked over to our 'club' to renew my membership, it only cost $5 for the year.
Dinner was a one pan dinner and was absolutely YUMMA. We watched TV and then headed to bed so I could finish reading my Pablo ebook, it is a great read.

Tomorrow is bingo at our 'club'.

  • Thu Jul 12 Showers 22° min 16°

Day 53 - Relaxing at Dicky Beach.

It was a warmer night with a minimum of 14.8°, I only used blankets and slept well, awaking about 6:30am.
This morning, there wasn't any time to relax, we had to leave camp at 9am and walk over to our 'club' for Bingo. When we arrived the joint was jumping, we queued up with the other 'old farts' and purchased our tickets (about $55 for both of us). We chose a table but I couldn't see the number board, so I dragged the table clear, no one complained. It was 'eyes down' at 9:30am and we didn't have anyone else sit with us, must be my BO or something. There were approx 25 games of bingo, during a game, both Marg and I called out 'bingo' when we didn't have it. It was such a MAJOR EMBARRASSMENT, in the end Marg did win but we were so embarrassed. Overall, we lost $20 which wasn't a bad day. As we left the club, it was raining, so we got a bit damp walking back to camp.
After lunch, we walked over the road to the shopping strip and sat outside under the awnings and had a coffee and cake, while there the rain stopped. SO when we got back to camp, while Marg read her ebook, I went for a ride to Point Cartwright Lighthouse. I feel some good, while out riding. It didn't rain while I rode but it looked very threatening. Due to the weather, there wasn't many people out walking or cycling.
Dinner was last night's one pan dinner left overs and was YUMMA.

Tomorrow, we will probably go to Kawana Waters Shoppingworld, as the weather is forecasted for some more days of rain.

The forecast as at today:
  • Thu Jul 12 Showers 22° min 16°
  • Fri Jul 13 Showers 23° min 17°
  • Sat Jul 14 Showers 22° min 17°
  • Sun Jul 15 Rain clearing 18° min 13°
  • Mon Jul 16 mostly sunny 21° min 9°
  • Tue Jul 17 possible showers 21° min 13°
  • Wed Jul 18 possible showers 21° min 12°

The surfers were out in force today, as the wind had died right down plus one fisherman right out the front of Point Cartwright Lighthouse.

This nosey bugger was overly friendly, he thought I had food for him.

Thursday 12th July 2012
Day 54 - Relaxing at Dicky Beach.

It was a warmer night with a minimum of 14.4°, I only used blankets and slept well, awaking about 6:30am.
Our normal morning is taking shape now. When I get up, I watch the previous night's 4 hours of the Tour de France, Cadel is still 1 min 53 sec behind. When Marg eventually wakes up, she lays in bed watching Sunrise and usually finishes watching it when she gets up, so that usually takes us past 9am ish.
This morning, we buggered about at camp and about mid morning, we drove to Kawana Waters Shoppingworld, where I had a haircut and coffee and cake at Michels, Rachel was working today, then finished with some food shopping at Woollies.

After lunch, the rain had stopped momentarily, SO Marg read her ebook, I went for a ride to Point Cartwright Lighthouse. I had only ridden a kilometer when it started to rain so I stopped and put on my wet weather jacket. I continued onto Point Cartwright Lighthouse in the rain, it was warm but wet. As you would expect there was nobody around.
Marg and I had dinner at our club tonight, it was roast night and it was YUMMA. It is still raining, we are sick of the rain.

Tomorrow, currently nothing is plannned.

The forecast as at today:
  • Fri Jul 13 Showers 21° min 17°
  • Sat Jul 14 Showers 21° min 17°
  • Sun Jul 15 Rain clearing 18° min 13°
  • Mon Jul 16 mostly sunny 20° min 9°
  • Tue Jul 17 possible showers 21° min 11°
  • Wed Jul 18 possible showers 21° min 12°

This is today's weather.

Not the best weather.

The kiosk was empty.

Friday 13th July 2012
Day 55 - Relaxing at Dicky Beach.

It was a very humid night with a minimum of 19.5°, consequently, we slept shithouse, awaking about 6:30am.
Our normal morning is now, watching the previous night's 4 hours of the Tour de France, Cadel is now just under 4 minutes behind. I think he is cactus now. Marg lays in bed watching Sunrise and usually finishes watching it when she gets up, so that usually takes us past 9am ish.
This morning, we buggered about at camp and about mid morning, we drove to Sunshine Plaza in Maroochydore, which is the largest shopping centre on the Sunshine Coast. We walked around had lunch at "Spuds", which specialises in Baked potatoes, they were YUMMA.

Drove back to camp in the rain. I think that i got myself a cold by riding in the rain yesterday or the day before, anyway, I feel like crap so no riding until the sun comes out. Forecast is for some sun on Monday then more rain after that. Marg and I are over the rain. Everything is damp.
During the afternoon, I had a nanna nap, while Marg read. Dinner tonight was pies and then we watched The Bourne Identity with Matt Damon. A good movie.

Tomorrow, currently nothing is plannned.

The forecast as at today:
  • Sat Jul 14 Showers 21° min 17°
  • Sun Jul 15 Rain clearing 19° min 13°

Saturday 14th July 2012
Day 56 - Relaxing at Dicky Beach.

It was a mild night with a minimum of 19.5° at 5:30am and we slept well, I awoke about 6:30am.
Our normal morning is now, watching the previous night's 4 hours of the Tour de France, no change for Cadel, still just under 4 minutes behind. Marg lays in bed watching Sunrise and usually finishes watching it when she gets up, so that usually takes us past 9am ish.
This morning, we buggered about at camp and about mid morning, the sun broke through and everyone's attitude improved a 1000%, SO we walked over the road to our shopping strip, all of 50 meters from camp. First call was sitting out the front of the bakery drinking coffee and eating freshly made choc muffins, then to the butchers next door for sausages and schnitzel, all for $10, I queried the price, being too cheap, but she was happy with it, so were we. As the sun was out, we dropped the meat back at camp, I changed into shorts and thongs and we walked along the beach looking for shells and rocks, we found some. It was so nice just walking along the beach in the sun.
Back at camp, it clouded over again and later rained. I may have said this before "we are sick of the rain".
Dinner was sausages and vegies, washed down with a few chilled refreshers and later on we watched "The Bourne Supremacy" movie.

Tomorrow, currently nothing is plannned.

The forecast as at today:

    Sunday 15th July 2012
Day 57 - Relaxing at Dicky Beach.

It was a mild night with a minimum of 14.8° at 7:30am and we slept well, I awoke about 6:00am. Marg must have been tired as she didn't wake until 8am ish.
I watched last night's 4 hours of the Tour de France, no change for Cadel, still just under 4 minutes behind. Marg laid in bed and watched the end of Weekend Sunrise, which finished at 10am, as the weather was still intermittent rain, we were in no hurry to do anything. About 11am, we decided to drive to Bunnings and check out Dremels for our rocks. Out the front, we bought a couple of sausage in bread for lunch.
Back at camp, the sun was breaking through, so we walked over to the bakery and had a coffee and chocy muffin, then walked along the beach in the sun. It was so nice. Spent a large part of the afternoon, sitting in the sun reading. I am currently reading Paul Allen biography (ebook), it is brilliant, very similiar to Steve Jobs' ebook.
Dinner is schnitzel with vegies. It is nearly ready and smells YUMMA.

Tonight we will be watching "The Bourne Ultimatum"

    Tomorrow, currently nothing is plannned.

    The forecast as at today:

    Monday 16th July 2012
Day 58 - Relaxing at Dicky Beach.

When we went to bed last night, the outside temperature was dropping, so I got out my sleepingbag, but I was too warm, so stripped off the sleepingbag and went back to my 2 blankets. Around 5am Marg asked if I wanted my sleepingbag, I thought she was going to put it on me, but she took it. That's grounds for divorce. After we each finished watching our TV shows (me-tour de France and Marg-Sunrise) we slowly got organised. Firstly, Wiggins did a very sporting act by getting the peleton to wait for Cadel, after some idiot threw tacks on the road, Cadel punctured 3 times in a couple of minutes.
The weather today was cold but sunny with no signs of rain until later in the day.
About mid to late morning, we were back at Bunnings buying a 'cheap' dremel and 5 more solar lights. then we continued over to Kawana Waters shoppingworld to do some food shopping and a coffee at Michels.

Back at camp, we had lunch and then as it was such a nice day, I rode to Point Cartwright Lighthouse, while Marg sat in the sun and read. Mid afternoon, the temperature dropped so I laid on the bed to read and fell asleep.
Dinner was chicken and avocado sangas, they were YUMMA. Tonight we will watch "Amazing Race Oz".

    Tomorrow, currently nothing is plannned.

Day 59 - Relaxing at Dicky Beach.

Back to 2 blankets, and I slept until 6:15am, Marg slept to 7;30am, then we each finished watching our TV shows (me-tour de France and Marg-Sunrise) we slowly got organised. Cadel is still 3minutes 19 seconds behind.
The weather today was cold but sunny with no signs of rain until later in the day.
About mid to late morning, we were drove to downtown Caloundra, parked in the main street and walked up and down both sides of the street and checked out the various shops. We had a coffee and then drove back to camp, where we had lunch. as it was still sunny, I went for a ride upto Point Cartwright Lighthouse, while Marg walked over to our club and played the pokies. She lost.

While I was standing at the Lighthouse, my phone rang it was Dicky Beach office, telling me that a parcel had arrived. this was my sewer bits that I ordered last Tuesday from Amazon. These were the bits that I tried to buy at the Caravan accessories shops, but they didn't stock them , so I ordered it from Amazon. It took one week to get there, now that is great service. Unreal.
At 5pm, walked over to our shopping strip and bought fish and chips for dinner, but the fish was very dry, so we will try another shop. We are watching taped Sunday and Billy Connolly.

    Tomorrow, currently nothing is plannned.

    Beautiful sunny afternoon.

    Beautiful sunny afternoon.

    Wednesday 18th July 2012
Day 60 - Relaxing at Dicky Beach.

Back to 1 blanket, and I slept without getting up until 5:55am, Marg is still asleep.
It's Bingo at our club this morning. I hope that we don't do 'false calls' this week.
I did manage to watch the 2nd week review of the Tour de France before Bingo, but Marg was in a bit of a rush, with getting up and putting on her makeup, we were lucky to get to Bingo on time.

Ok, back from Bingo, it was another good day at Bingo, except that we didn't win a game. Maybe next week. It takes all morning, we leave camp at 8:50am, for 'eyes down' at 9:30am and we finish around 11:45am, so it takes all morning.

Walked back to camp for lunch, and then drove to Kawana Waters to have a coffee and some food shopping. The weather is still shabby, it rained intermittently. I didn't ride today, as the sun never came out and it was coolish. When the weather is like this, you do feel a bit down, because it limits you to what you can do, eg walking along the beach, riding etc.
Dinner is bacon and egg sangas. There's nothing on TV tonight, that we like, so we will watch some taped shows.

Tomorrow, we are thinking of doing a reccy drive to the township of Glasshouse Mountains to suss out how to get to the volcanic crags of the Glasshouse Mountains, so when the weather fines up, we will go back and check them out.

Day 61 - Relaxing at Dicky Beach.

Back to 2 blankets, and I slept well until getting up around 7:30am, Marg woke around the same time and laid in bed and watched Sunrise.
I managed to watch last night's 4 hour Tour de France. Cadel is now knackered.

This morning, we decided to do a reccy to the township of Glasshouse Mountains, so when the weather finally fines up, we can then do the tourist drive around Maleny, Landsborough, Montville and Glasshouse Mountain lookouts. We arrived at the Glasshouse Mountains Tourist Info centre and spoke to Amanda. She gave us maps and brochures, so we are now ready to check out the area, when the weather allows us. Upon leaving the Info Centre, we drove over the road to 'downtown Glasshouse Mountains' and had a coffee in the main street. We retraced our route back to camp, passing by the Australia Zoo, even though the weather is crap, the carpark was full as, when we past.

Back at camp, we had lunch and while Marg settled in for an afternoon of reading, I turned into 'cycleman' as the sun was out and looked like it wouldn't rain, I decided to ride up to Point Cartwright Lighthouse.
Dinner was shepherd pies and they were YUMMA. TV tonight only has Hamish and Andy, that we like, so early to bed, so I can continue reading Paul Allen Microsoft) ebook, it is exciting as Steve Job's ebook. Both very good.

    Friday 20th July 2012
Day 62 - Relaxing at Dicky Beach.

I had to pull on my sleepingbag this morning. I slept in until 7:30am, Marg woke around the same time and laid in bed and watched Sunrise. I managed to watch last night's 4 hour Tour de France. Cadel's race for 1st is now over, we will have to wait until next year, maybe.

This morning, Marg had a hair appointment at 9:30am, just over the road in our little shopping strip. As the sun was out and no clouds around, I went riding upto to Point Cartwright Lighthouse, it was a beautiful day but still cool. When i got back to camp, a new woman appeared in the doorway, Marg was back with her haircut, looks good. As I say when I have a haircut, "it's hard to improve on perfection".

After lunch at the van, the sun was still out, so we walked along the beach past the SS Dicky wreck and collected more shells. It is great when the sun is out. I spent most of the afternoon glued to my Kindle reading Paul's Allen story, it is brilliant.
Dinner tonight was roast lamb cutlets and vegies followed by watching Robin William's 'Good morning Vietnam". That is one of my favs.

Tomorrow, we are off to the Eumundi Markets.
