Mum and Dad gave me my WF-666 number plate for Christmas in 1972.

This was my 1st car that I owned - a beautiful LC GTR Torana - 4sp manual.
I bought my Torana about October 1972, as I was starting work at the CBC Bank on 6th November 1972, it cost $2,150.
One of my sailing mates Gus Ross's old man owned a panel beaters, so Gus added the XU-1 stickers and rear spoiler to my GTR.
After the 1972 Christmas, I had the WF-666 number plate transferred to my Torana.
1974 - Taken at our home in Pyingerra Cres. Cheltenham.
Taken at Sorrento's Back Beach, staying at Reido's holiday house.

This was my 2nd car that I owned - a beautiful XB 351 Fairmont Hardtop - 4sp manual.
I wanted a XB GT Hardtop but couldn't afford it.
I ordered my Ford from Melford Motors, top end of Elizabeth St, Melbourne in July 1974. Melford ordered it with front and rear spoilers, but without badges, as Melford put the GT badge and stickers on it to make it look like a GT replica. It had 8" Aunger mags and tyres were Big Boss Fifty front and Mickey Thompson Indy Profile 50 (H50x14) on the rear. Being an XB Hardtop, you had to fill up the rear mudguard with tyres. I couldn't fit N50x14 Mickeys under the rear guards without some mods, so I went with H50x14.
I had the WF-666 number plate transferred over.
It was serviced by Murray Carter (a great guy) who owned Murray Carter Motors and was a very popular Touring Car driver, racing various Fords in those days. Murray's workshop was located in Bay Rd, Cheltenham. I remember one of his customers that had a XB Hardtop which Murray and his team had upgraded quite a bit. Eg: the motor and various other things. It had 'Phase V' painted neatly on it. It was absolutely stunning.
In '76 I had the exhaust side pipes added and while driving along roads surrounded by shops, the V8 burble was bloody brilliant. So loud.
Sitting at the traffic lights it sounded unbelieveable. I remember one time while at the lights in St Kilda Rd, a beautiful yellow Monaro pulled up beside me, I revved it a bit and when the lights went green, the Monaro was off like a bullet, while I just moved off slowly with a great burble.
I used to slow down using the manual gears, consequently, after a number of years I blew up the clutch, luckily another one of my sailing mates worked for REPCO, who at that time were supplying Alan Moffat's XB racing Falcons with parts, and my mate took my XB to work and somehow, I had one of Moffat's clutches fitted to my XB..... Thanks JH..
I also towed my 20ft yacht with it. I loved it and miss it now, but Life goes on.
July '74 - Just after it arrived home at 67 Tramway Pde, Beaumaris.
1976 ish - had rear louves and side pipes added. The V8 burble was bloody brilliant.

This was our family car... Marg made me sell my XB and buy a family car, so we could start a family...OR did we BOTH decide to sell the XB and Marg's Mazda 808 and buy "The Limo".
We had the WF-666 number plate transferred over.
We traded both the XB and Marg's Mazda 808 in on "The Limo", with no cash changing hands. Unreal...
"The Limo" cost $7,800 and arrived just before Xmas 1978. We had planned to compete in the National Sharpie Yachting titles in Sydney, by towing our yacht to Sydney behind "The Limo". Which we did. It was bad timing as "The Limo" lacked the power of the XB and on some hills on the Hume Hwy, I was down to 3rd gear at about 75kph in the left lane. But it was a great car, as we kept it for nearly 30 years, BUT we did buy a Commodore in 1994 which was our main car BUT the Commodore did not carry the WF-666 number plate, it stayed on "The Limo" until we bought the mighty Navara.
"The Limo" out in the country.
"The Limo" at its home at Scarlet St, Mordy.
As we were both preparing to retire from work, we had ordered a Fifth Wheeler Van and needed something to tow it... Hence after indepth research the Navara was #1 back in 2007 for us. So we bought "the Mighty Navara" for $51,000 with various options, such as Bull Bar, Driving Lights, Tonneau Cover and the Towbar pack, just to name a few.
We had the WF-666 number plate transferred over.
"The Mighty Navara" arrived about 2 months before our 5th Wheeler was ready. While we had the 5th Wheeler, "The Mighty Navara" had towed it just on 100,000kms around Australia. In 2021, we sold the 5th Wheeler, but we kept "The Mighty Navara" as I love it and the only drama in 17 years was that I had to replace the clutch. Currently, it has just done over 220,000kms.
In April 2017, we moved to the Gold Coast permanently. On 14th July 2020, we went to transfer our Vic rego WF-666 to Qld rego, unfortunately, that number plate was not available, so WRF-666 became "The Mighty Navara's" new number plate.
I still own my WF-666 number plate.
