Home to Turnaround Pt down to Surfers via GC600 Park to Robbies Cafe to The Spit (both ends) then back through GC600 Park back to the Turnaround Pt and finally back Home about 60kms.
Today's highlight:Everyone on the Gold Coast were out to watch me ride. There were people evrywhere. The weather was absolutely stunning.
From Labrador to The Spit, every carpark was overflowing with boat traillers and cars. I have never seen them so full, so early in the morning.
I left at 6:37 am, the breeze was light and variable, the Broadwater started out glassy.
As usual, I rode Northward to my Lands End turnaround point. I continued down to MacIntosh Is, did a lap. Over the Bridge at Narrowneck then along the Shared Path to my normal spot at Surfers, still near Hanlan St. I stopped and took my weather photos. I headed off to the Spit along the various shared paths.
I continued to the Seaway via the Federation Walk. Did a lap of Doug Jennings Park, then out to the end of The Spit, down to the end of Moondarewa Spit, took a few photos at the end of the wooden boardwalk, back out to the end of The Spit, sat on the platform and ate my museli bar and took some photos.
Every car spot was taken, I couldn't believe it.
After leaving The Spit, I rode along the Shared Path that runs beside Seaworld Drive.
I rode through Muriel Henchman Park, there was a queue of jetski owners waiting to lauch their jetskis, but the downside for them is that there aare no car spots. Unreal. I rode along the bike path upto and through Seaworld's carpark.
I rode around Marina Mirage and the jetty. Crossed over Seaworld Drive back onto the Federation Walk and continued back to MacIntosh Island. Goosey Lucy and mates were locked up on their island, as it is Sunday.
I stopped at Cafe Rockpool and ordered a coffee and a toasted ham and cheese sanga. It was YUMMA. Spoke to Kamal for 5 minutes.
I continued homeward via a lap of 'our' caravan park, there were 150 occupied caravan sites out of 230 sites. Wal has done a runner, he wasn't meant to leave until Tuesday, but his site is empty. He has gone back into NSW to visit his daughter.

Stopped at the temporary fence, except it was gone.
Yep, the Seaway promenade is now open. Hooray.
So I rode out to the end. The shared path is about 3 meters wide compared to 1 meter. It is different and should be very popular with walkers and cyclists. There are concrete type bench seats about every 1/3 of the way out. Great for people to stop and rest etc.
I stopped at the end and take some photos and ate my museli bar.
As I approached the Doug Jennings Park, I noticed heaps of people and a security guard.
It was the start of a car rally similar to the 'Variety Bash', this one is called 'Shitbox Rally'
After a few photos, I rode along the new Shared path on the Moondarewa Spit, and continued to the end of the new wooden boardwalk and took photos.

Halfway along the gravel path, I came across a security guard who had blocked the path. Someone was filming a TV show/movie. Don't know who.
Stopped at the temporary fence, (it is still BLOODY closed, I was under the impression that it would be open during May... NOPE..) then rode along the new Shared path on the Moondarewa Spit, spotted Angelo riding his laps of the Doug Jennings Park. After leaving The Spit, I rode along the Shared Path that runs beside Seaworld Drive. I rode through Muriel Henchman Park, stopped to eat my museli bar, then I rode along the bike path upto and through Seaworld's carpark.
As I mentioned before someone is filming something, Well, this is where they have set up camp in the back blocks of the Seaworld carpark. The usuaul tents etc were there BUT what was different was, there were approx 20 Motorhomes, so I immediately think it involves some of the Hollywood stars that are on the Gold Coast.

As usual, I rode Northward to my Lands End turnaround point. I spoke to the workmen at lands End, as the park has been dug up for a tunnel etc, anyway, he reckons that they have nearly finished and the park should be back to its original state by July. I will believe when I SEE IT.
I continued down to MacIntosh Is, did a lap. Over the Bridge at Narrowneck, Angelo was parked there and I thought that I would stop and chat on my way back from the Spit. Continued along the Shared Path to my normal spot at Surfers, near Hanlan St. I stopped and took my weather photos. I headed off to the Spit along the various shared paths. Today's lowlight: I had a puncture. A beautifully shaped piece of glass went through the middle of my tyre and pierced the tube.
It went flat instantly. Lucky, I was on the bridge going to Goosey Lucy's park.

Normal weekend procedure.
As I approcahed their island, I had that 'puncture feeling'. Sure enough, It was a very quick puncture, by the time I felt it and stopped, it was flat as. Lucky, there was a bench seat handy, so I sat down and changed the rear tube with a new one. Pumped it up and gently rode homewards, stopping at Cafe Rockpool and checking that it was still firm, so I went and had a coffee and toasted ham and cheese sanga. It was YUMMA.
After Cafe rockpool, I continued directly home but at a slower pace than normal.
Got home and pumped it back up to 60psi, will check it tomorrow.
Pumped up the puntured tube and there was a beautiful hole right in the middle of the tube, just happen to correspond to where I removed a slither of glass from the tyre. How about that for coincidence.

I left at 6:40am, the breeze was CALM and building from the North West for the whole ride.
As usual, I rode Northward to my Lands End turnaround point. I continued down to MacIntosh Is, did a lap. Over the Bridge at Narrowneck then along the Shared Path to my normal spot at Surfers, just near Hanlan St. I stopped at my usual spot and took my weather photos. I headed off to the Spit along the various shared paths, and it was magic with 'bugger all' walkers.
I rode along Federation Walk to the Seaway. Stopped at the temporary fence, (latest info, the temporary fence should be removed next month. We hope so) then rode along the new Shared path on the Moondarewa Spit, it is beautiful.
I continued to the end of the new wooden boardwalk and took photos. I rode a couple of laps of Doug Jennings Park. Said "hi" to my mate Angelo "the Man in the Red Van". He has just released a book on his life. I have to get it. All proceeds are going to the DOWN SYNDROME people.
After leaving The Spit, I rode along the Shared Path that runs beside Seaworld Drive. At the end, I rode through Muriel Henchman Park, then I rode along the bike lane upto and through Seaworld's carpark. Being 8;40am and Seaworld doesn't open until 9;30am, naturally, there were only the employees' cars in the carpark. I rode around Marina Mirage and the jetty then crossed over Seaworld Drive back onto the Federation Walk and continued back to MacIntosh Island. Goosey Lucy and mates were all around me while I sat and ate my museli bar.
I stopped at Cafe Rockpool and had a coffee and toasted ham and cheese sanga. It was YUMMA..
After Cafe Rockpool, I continued homeward via a lap of 'our' caravan park, there were 169 empty caravan site out of 230 sites. That is approx $3,050 per day caravan fees.
Arrived at home. Another pearler of a ride. It is great being back on my treadley.
Today's highlight: Still magic to be back riding.
It still is School holidays and consequently, the shared paths are rather full.
I left at 8:36am, the breeze was light and building from the South East for the whole ride.
As usual, I rode Northward to my Lands End turnaround point. I continued down to MacIntosh Is, did a lap. Over the Bridge at Narrowneck then along the Shared Path to my normal spot at Surfers, just near Hanlan St. I stopped at my usual spot and took my weather photos and also spoke to one of the 'older' lifesaver who said that the swimmers were behaving themselves and also said that he liked my bike. I headed off to the Spit along the various shared paths, and TRIED TO dodge the walkers.
I rode along Federation Walk to the Seaway. On the FASTEST part of the gravel path, the tree HAS BEEN REMOVED. THANK YOU GC Council.
Said "hi" to my mate "the Man in the Red Van".
After leaving The Spit, I rode along the Shared Path that runs beside Seaworld Drive. At the end, I rode through Muriel Henchman Park, stopped and took a photo, then I rode along the bike lane upto and through Seaworld's carpark. Being School holidays, it was chockers. Being so busy I gave Marina Mirage a big miss and crossed over Seaworld Drive back onto the Federation Walk and continued dodging walkers, gave MacIntosh Island a miss, as well.
I stopped at Cafe Rockpool and had a coffee.
After drinking, I then continued homeward via a lap of 'our' caravan park, there were 80 empty caravan site out of 230 sites. That is approx $7,500 per day caravan fees.
Arrived at home. Another pearler of a ride. It is great being back on my treadley.
Today's highlight: The ABSOLUTE joy of being back riding.
It was Sunday and throw in the School holidays as well, and you might understand that every Australian were out, walking on our Shared Paths.
I left at 10:43am, the breeze was light and building from the North East for the whole ride.
I headed off to the Spit along the various shared paths, and TRIED TO dodge the walkers. Did I say that it is School holidays, consequently, people everywhere PLUS the weather was magnificent.
I rode along Federation Walk to the Seaway. On the FASTEST part of the gravel path, the tree is STILL BLOCKING THE PATH, at least I expected it to be there. Stopped at the temporary fence, (latest info, the temporary fence should be removed next month. We hope so) then rode along the new Shared path on the Moondarewa Spit, it is beautiful.
While running along the path, I just happen to come across Mr Whippy or whatever he is called these days, SO A DOUBLE CHOC DIP SUNDAE LATER, I continued to the end of the new wooden boardwalk and took photos. I rode a couple of laps of Doug Jennings Park. Didn't see my mate "the Man in the Red Van".
After leaving The Spit, I rode along the Shared Path that runs beside Seaworld Drive. At the end, I rode through Muriel Henchman Park, didn't stop, then I rode along the bike lane upto and through Seaworld's carpark, took a photo. Being School holidays, it was chockers. Be0ing so busy I gave Marina Mirage a big miss and crossed over Seaworld Drive back onto the Federation Walk and continued dodging walkers, back to MacIntosh Island. Goosey Lucy and mates were inside their fence on their island, discussing something very important, but they didn't involve me today.
As I approached Cafe Rockpool, I coouldn't believe my eyes, there would have been a minimum of 20 people in the queue and with social distancing, it was bloody long. I wasn't stopping anyway, as I had my daily coffee at Runners (Runaway Bay SC). I also didn't ride through the Caravan Park.
Arrived at home. Another pearler of a ride. It is great being back on my treadley.
Today's highlight: The joy of being back riding after 6.5 weeks of NO RIDING.
Due to a couple of skin cancers removed and then just as I was about to recommence riding, I put my back out and was bed ridden for 2 weeks and add to this.

Over the Bridge at Narrowneck then along the Shared Path to my normal spot at Surfers, just near Hanlan St. I stopped at my usual spot and took my weather photos. I headed off to the Spit along the various shared paths, and dodged the walkers. It is School holidays, consequently, people everywhere PLUS the weather was magnificent - cloudless, blue skies with large surf.
I rode along Federation Walk to the Seaway. On the FASTEST part of the gravel path, a tree had fallen down blocking the path and was in the shade, making it very, very hard to see. I stopped JUST IN TIME. Carried my bike over it and took photos. Stopped at the temporary fence, (it still hasn't bloody finished YET, it must be getting close) then rode along the new Shared path on the Moondarewa Spit, it is beautiful. At the end, I rode along the new wooden boardwalk and took photos. I rode a couple of laps of Doug Jennings Park. Stopped and chatted to the Man in the Red Van - this guy lives in his van and has driven around Australia 3 times so far. He is publishing a book of his travels.
After leaving The Spit, I rode along the Shared Path that runs beside Seaworld Drive. At the end, I rode through Muriel Henchman Park and stopped at the beach, and ate my museli bar.
I rode along the bike lane upto and through Seaworld's carpark, took a photo. Being School holidays, it was busy BUT 2 Fire Trucks had taken over an area in the back of the carpark, to practice their ladder erecting etc. I headed along the piers near Marina Mirage, stopped and took a photo of "The YOT Club" it is a big Trimaran that takes trips around the Broadwater upto Brissy.
Continued back to MacIntosh Island. Goosey Lucy and mates were lazing in the shade, so I naturally took a photo.
I stopped at Cafe Rockpool, the 2 girls had missed me (at least someone missed me) and had a coffee.

Arrived at home. Another pearler of a ride.
Today's highlight was checking out The Spit, unfortunately, The Seaway Spit is still closed.
What pissed me off today. The Sand Pumping Pier which is 50 meters from The Seaway. Some idiot decided to add gravel under the Pier, before it was at least 7 feet from gravel to bottom of the pier, NOW SOME MENTAL GIANT has added more gravel to it and now the gap is about 5ft 6inch, I can't even walk under it, it is so low. Bloody idiot. It really pissed me off.
I left at 10:13am, after shopping. The breeze was light and building from the South for the whole ride and bloody humid.
As usual, I rode Northward to my Lands End turnaround point. For a change, I rode past Southport YC and then along the Federation Walk (Gravel path) to The Spit. Rode to where the temporary fence blocks the path to the Inland side of the Seaway. It is still blocked.
I rode a lap of Doug Jennings Park and then to the end of Moondarewa Spit, where I took photos while standing on the new Boardwalk. Rode back to the gravel path and headed along the path to the sea side of The Seaway, to see if it is finished. Got to The Seaway, it is very close to being finished.

Bad mistake, as I climbed up on a 1m high bollard/concrete block. Took the photos, but getting down was a problem, so I jumped, my knees aren't as strong as they were, or I may have put on 40+kgs since my 20s. Bottomline, I did a magnificent tumble roll. A couple of cuts, so I headed directly home. hence the shorter distance.
Arrived at home, all safe and with a few cuts.

I rode along the path parallel to the Seaway until it was blocked, then rode to the other Spit to where it is blocked, then rode a couple of laps of Doug Jennings Park.
After leaving The Spit, I rode along the new Shared Path that runs beside Seaworld Drive. At the end, I rode through Muriel Henchman Park and stopped at the beach, and ate my museli bar and took 2 photos.
I rode along the bike lane upto and through Seaworld, stopping to take a photo of the empty carpark. Then headed along the piers near Marina Mirage. I saw that "The YOT Club" was still moored at the end of the jetty.
Continued back to MacIntosh Island. Goosey Lucy and mates were very vocal, as they had not been let out, but 3 different groups of people arrived and fed them and the rest of the birds. After this, I started homeward.
I stopped at Cafe Rockpool for a coffee and as I hadn't had brekky, I ordered a toasted ham and cheese sanga. BLOODY yumma.
After eating, I then continued homeward via a lap of 'our' caravan park, there were only 3 vacant sites compared to yesterday's 43 vacant caravan spots.
Arrived at home. Another pearler of a ride.

Goosey lucy and mates out for their Saturday 2 hours of freedom. Over the Bridge at Narrowneck then along the Esplanade to my normal spot at Surfers, just near Hanlan St. I stopped at my usual spot and took my weather photos. The lifesavers were setting up camp, opposite my site, as there were no rips there. I headed off to the Spit along the various shared paths, and weaved between the MILLIONS of walkers.

He said that during the BIG storm, he was parked here at the Spit carpark and his motorhome was rocking but no leaks and he survived without any dramas. He remembered me from over a year ago when I last spoke to him. Nice guy. I rode along the path parallel to the Seaway until it was blocked, then rode to the other Spit to where it is blocked, then rode a couple of laps of Doug Jennings Park. Continued back to MacIntosh Island. Mark the head gardener came over and spoke to me as I was sitting watching Goosey Lucy and mates, while eating my bananas. Mark is having 5 days off BUT will pop in each morning about 5:30am to feed Goosey Luch and mates. While sitting there, Goosey Lucy and mates went completely ape shit... very noisy. One of the regualr neighbours arrived who also feeds them. They were all over him. It was beautiful to watch. After this, I started homeward.

It was blowing like buggery, SO C Gull wasn't there today, regardless, I took my normal weather photos, just near Hanlan St.

Today's highlight was: Riding to see the Ch7 Sunrise weather team on the beach at Surfers.
Today's lowlight was: The bastards were packing up, as they are on Sydney time. I missed Sam by 10 minutes. Prick.
I slept shithouse last night and got up about 6:15am, cbf riding, so I watched Ch7 Sunrise and as Sam and his weather team were at Surfers. That's all I needed to motivate me. I left at 7:07am.
As usual, I rode Northward to my Lands End turnaround point. I continued down to MacIntosh Is, did a lap. Over the Bridge at Narrowneck then along the Shared Path, keeping an eye out for the Sunrise team. Spotted about 200 meters from my usual Surfers weather spot. It was 7;49am, so I was surprised to see the crew packing up. Upon indepth questioning, the crew told me that they are working on Sydney's time, so I missed the day's final weather cross by less than 10 minutes. How's that for timing. Shithouse, that's how. I noticed that Sam Mac was nowhere to be seen. Not a great loss, but I did ride to see him.
Anyway, I took a photo of the crew packing up and then headed the 200 meters to my normal photo spot. At least, C Gull was there, SO I took its photo and my normal weather photos, just near Hanlan St.
I then headed off to the Spit slowly along the various shared paths, and weaved between the less than normal amount of walkers. The wind was light and variable and I hardly noticed it.
I rode along Federation Walk to the Seaway. Due to the Spit reconstruction, I now turn off Federation Walk just before the Sand Pumping Pier. I rode along the path parallel to the Seaway until it was blocked, then rode to the other Spit to where it is blocked, then rode a couple of laps of Doug Jennings Park. After leaving The Spit, I rode along the new Shared Path that runs beside Seaworld Drive. I stopped at Muriel Henchman Park, while there, I chatted to 2 surfers who just pulled up in their tinny, they had been surfing the South Straddy break. They anchor their tinny just out to sea of the surf break and go surfing. Pretty smart actually.
I continued along the shared path that runs beside Seaworld back to MacIntosh island, via Marina Mirage jetties. I stopped at MacIntosh Island and ate my museli bar. I was rapt to see ALL 13 geese out on the lawns, enjoying themselves, I was also welcomed by Peter Peacock just balancing on the back of the benchseat.
I stopped at Cafe Rockpool for a coffee and as I hadn't had brekky, I ordered a toasted ham and cheese sanga. BLOODY yumma.
After eating, I then continued homeward via a lap of 'our' caravan park, I counted 70 caravans, 9 more than Mon 26th Oct.
Arrived at home. Another pearler of a ride.
Today's highlight was: the joy of riding.
While The Spit is under going major enhancements, so instead of doing laps of The Spit area etc totalling about 12kms, I decided to extend my ride through Surfers down to Hedges Ave, Broadbeach and then back to Surfers and The Spit as normal.
I left at 6:49am. The breeze was very light and building from the South. It was overcast and threatening to rain, but didn't.
As usual, I rode Northward to my Lands End turnaround point. I continued down to MacIntosh Is, did a lap. Over the Bridge at Narrowneck then along the road through Surfers. Continued on through to the South side of Broadbeach. Stopped for a quick rest, before heading back to my normal spot at Surfers, just near Hanlan St. I stopped at my usual spot and took my weather photos. I headed off to the Spit along the various shared paths, and weaved between the walkers.
After leaving The Spit, I now ride on recently completed Shared Path that runs beside Seaworld Drive. At the end, I rode through Muriel Henchman Park and stopped at the beach and took a photo.
I rode along the bike lane and then along the shared path beside Seaworld, headed along the piers near Marina Mirage then along the shared paths back to MacIntosh island. Stopped for some water and took a photo of Peter Peacock before heading homeward.
Stopped at Cafe Rockpool for a coffee, then continued homeward via a lap of 'our' caravan park, I counted 61 caravans, 10 less than Wed 21st Oct.
Arrived at home. Quite pleasant.
As usual, it was absolutely magic.

Today's highlight was: Riding on a beautiful sunny, light breeze.
Today's lowlight was: It is Saturday and the walkers are everywhere.
I left at 6:53am. As it is Bathurst Weekend and I have some serious TV viewing. I have set Foxtel recordings for 4 days totalling 41 hours of taping. So I have plenty to watch.
As usual, I rode Northward to my Lands End turnaround point. I continued down to MacIntosh Is, did a lap. Over the Bridge at Narrowneck then along the road (being Saturday, it is safer on the road than the shared path), down to my normal spot at Surfers, just near Hanlan St.
I stopped at my usual spot and took my weather photos before heading off to the Spit slowly along the various shared paths, and weaved between the many, many walkers. With a very pleasant light tailwind.
Upset that there was NO "Mr Whippy" van today. I could have gone a choc dip. I continued along the shared path that runs beside Seaworld back to MacIntosh island. Where I stopped and spoke to Mark (the head gardener), today is his last day before he starts 3 weeks leave.
I stopped at Cafe Rockpool for a coffee and as I hadn't had brekky, I ordered a toasted ham and cheese sanga. BLOODY yumma.
Arrived at home. Another pearler of a ride. 184kms since Monday.
Today's high & lowlight was: Seeing that Phil died. Phil was a homeless guy who slept on a bench seat on the beachside of Cavill Ave. I used to talk to him. I saw him on Tuesday 'asleep' on his bench seat, as it turned out he was dead. At least, he died in his sleep. RIP Phil.
I did some shopping beforehand and didn't leave until 11:11am. The breeze was medium from the South East. It was a warm 24degs.
As usual, I rode Northward to my Lands End turnaround point. I continued down to MacIntosh Is, did a lap. Over the Bridge at Narrowneck then along the shared path into a moderate headwind, down to my normal spot at Surfers, just near Hanlan St. I noticed that there was a sign where Phil slept, so I stopped and photograph it. I didn't realise that Phil was 3 months older than me. RIP Phil.
I stopped at my usual spot and took my weather photos before heading off to the Spit along the various shared paths, and weaved between the walkers. With a pleasant tailwind.
I rode along Federation Walk to the Seaway. Due to the Spit reconstruction, I now turn off Federation Walk just before the Sand Pumping Pier. I rode along the path parallel to the Seaway until it was blocked, then rode to the other Spit to where it is blocked, then rode a couple of laps of Doug Jennings Park and took a photo of the park. After leaving The Spit, I rode along the new Shared Path that runs beside Seaworld Drive. Upset that there was NO "Mr Whippy" van today. I could have gone a choc dip. I continued along the shared path that runs beside Seaworld back to MacIntosh island. Where I stopped and spoke to Mark (the head gardener) he is a Lowndesy fan the same as me and we both hope that Lowndesy and Jamie win Bathurst on Sunday.
I didn't stop at Cafe Rockpool for a coffee, as I had one earlier in the day.
Arrived at home. Another pearler of a ride.
Today's highlight was: just completing the ride, I was a bit buggered by the strong South easterly.
I did some shopping beforehand and didn't leave until 10:43am. The breeze was bloody awful from the South East. It was a warm 24degs.
As usual, I rode Northward to my Lands End turnaround point. I continued down to MacIntosh Is, did a lap. Over the Bridge at Narrowneck then along the shared path into a bloody awful headwind, down to my normal spot at Surfers, just near Hanlan St. I stopped at my usual spot and took my weather photos before heading off to the Spit along the various shared paths, and weaved between the walkers. With a bloody MAGIC tailwind.
At a crossing, I rode past a modern day "Mr Whippy" van and did a U turn and bought a choc dip, it was magnificent. I continued along the shared path that runs beside Seaworld back to MacIntosh island. Where I stopped and took some photos of Peter Peacock and young Peter Peacock plus Goosey Lucy and mates.
I didn't stop at Cafe Rockpool for a coffee, as I had one earlier in the day, BUT as I approacheed Charis Seafood (near home), George and all his mates were on the beach waiting to be fed scraps from Charis. This happens daily about 1pm. Check out the photo and the number of Georges.
Arrived at home. Quite pleasant.
Today's highlight was: just the enjoyment of riding.
While The Spit is under going major enhancements, so instead of doing laps of The Spit area etc totalling about 12kms, I decided to extend my ride through Surfers down to Hedges Ave, Broadbeach and then back to Surfers and The Spit as normal.

As usual, I rode Northward to my Lands End turnaround point.
I continued down to MacIntosh Is, did a lap. Over the Bridge at Narrowneck then along the road through Surfers. Continued on through to the South side of Broadbeach. Stopped at Stella Maris church next door to 272 Hedges Ave for a quick rest, before heading back to my normal spot at Surfers with a soft building tailwind, just near Hanlan St and took my weather photos. I headed off to the Spit along the various shared paths, and weaved between varying numbers of walkers.
I rode along Federation Walk to the Seaway. Due to the Spit reconstruction, I now turn off Federation Walk just before the Sand Pumping Pier. I rode through the Seaworld carpark, followed by the Marina Mirage path and out to Helitours, before heading back to MacIntosh island. Stopped for some water.
Heading homeward, Bumblebee IV is still moored at Southport YC. As I approached Cafe Rockpool, no one was waiting, so I stopped for a coffee.
I did a lap of 'our' caravan park, I counted 69 caravans, 126 less than last Fri 25th Sep School holidays.
Arrived at home.

Continuing on my ride, I rode through the Seaworld carpark, followed by the Marina Mirage path and out to Helitours, before heading back to MacIntosh island. Stopped for some water and spoke to Mark - the head gardener about Goosey Lucy and mates. I haven't seen the 13 geese for months. Mark told me that most of the females are sitting on eggs. So watch this space for updates.
Heading homeward, I stopped at Cafe Rockpool for a coffee, then a lap of 'our' caravan park, I counted 71 caravans, 3 less than last Sunday 13th Sep.
Arrived at home.
As usual, it was absolutely magic.
Today's highlight was: seeing the Tickford Supercar Team still back at Seaworld Conference Centre.

I rode along the bike lane and as I approached the Seaworld Conferenece Centre, the Tickford Supercars Transporters were still there, so I went in and took a few photos. Noone was about and everything was locked up, so the crew were having a rest day.
Continuing on my ride, I headed straight to MacIntosh island. Stopped for some water before heading homeward. As I had a coffee at Lab Park before today's ride, I didn't stop at Cafe Rockpool for a coffee. I limit myself to one coffee a day.
SO I continued homeward via a lap of 'our' caravan park, I counted 74 caravans, 12 more than last Thur 10th Sep.

As usual, I rode Northward to my Lands End turnaround point. I continued down to MacIntosh Is, did a lap. Over the Bridge at Narrowneck then along the road through Surfers. It was here that I got 7 drops of rain on me. Continued on through to the South side of Broadbeach. I rode along the bike lane and as I approached the Seaworld Conferenece Centre, I spotted the Tickford Supercars Transporters, they were back.
The Supercars were at Townsville last weekend and are racing at Tailem Bend next Saturday week, so I expected the teams to drive straight from Townsville to Tailem Bend. They obviously didn't.
So, I naturally stopped to grab a photo or two, when some guy walks out holding a laptop, so I spoke to him. He said the team was here until next Tuesday when they travel to Tailem Bend for 2 weekends racing then travel back to Seaworld until they go to Bathurst. Bathurst is the last round for this season. They then may go home and relax. They have been away from their families for months. I wished him all the best and continued on my ride.
Heading along the piers near Marina Mirage then along the shared paths back to MacIntosh island. Stopped for some water before heading homeward.
Stopped at Cafe Rockpool for a coffee, then continued homeward via a lap of 'our' caravan park, I counted 62 caravans, 2 less than last Fri 4th Sep.
Arrived at home. Quite pleasant. Even if it drizzled a little bit.
As usual, it was absolutely magic.
Today's highlight was: nearly riding over a 1m eastern Brown Snake. I think it was a baby.
Lowlight was by the time I stopped and grabbed my camera, the snake was gone into the long grass.
I left at 7:57am. The breeze was medium and building from the North West. As it was 20degs, I didn't need to wear my second jersey and tights.
As usual, I rode Northward to my Lands End turnaround point. I continued down to MacIntosh Is, did a lap. Over the Bridge at Narrowneck then along the road to my normal spot at Surfers, just near Hanlan St. I stopped at my usual spot and took my weather photos. I rode along Federation Walk to the Seaway. Due to the Spit reconstruction, I now turn off Federation Walk just before the Sand Pumping Pier.
As I turned towards the road which is less than 20 meters away, a 1meter baby eastern brown snake was crossing the gravel track. As it saw me, it sped up and then stopped and raised its head in a striking pose. Luckily, I was outside its reach. I stopped and quickly walked back with my phone at the ready to take a photo BUT the little bugger had done a 'runner' into the long grass. Snake 1 Frosty zero.
You definitely don't go looking for Eastern browns in long grass. I continued my ride.
I rode along the path parallel to the Seaway until it was blocked, then rode to the other Spit to where it is blocked, then rode a couple of laps of Doug Jennings Park. After leaving The Spit, I now ride on the recently completed Shared Path that runs beside Seaworld Drive. At the end, I rode through Muriel Henchman Park and stopped at the beach and ate my banana.

I have seen that The Spit is under going major enhancement works, so instead of doing laps of The Spit area etc totalling about 12kms, I decided to extend my ride through Surfers down to Hedges Ave, Broadbeach and then back to Surfers and The Spit as normal.
I left at 6:45am. The breeze was very light and variable and cool enough that I needed to wear a second jersey and tights.
As usual, I rode Northward to my Lands End turnaround point. I continued down to MacIntosh Is, did a lap. Noticed that the Bridge is now open, so rode over there to Narrowneck then along the road through Surfers and through to the South side of Broadbeach. I headed off to the Spit along the various shared paths, and weaved between the walkers.
I rode along Federation Walk to the Seaway. EXCEPT right at the Seaway there is a construction area with fences etc and you can't get through. In future, I need to head over to Seaworld Dve at the Sand Pumping Pier. I rode along the path parallel to the Seaway until it was blocked, then rode to the other Spit and it was blcoked, then rode a couple of laps of Doug Jennings Park. While riding the laps, I noticed that the new shared path that has been built alongside Seaworld Drive, is now open. So I rode it. very nice EXCEPT...it comes to an abrupt end, right opposite the Seaworld Conference Centre. There is a 50 meter gap between the end and where the existing footpath begins. Unreal.
I rode along the bike lane on Seaworld Drive before heading along the piers near Marina Mirage. Checking out Helitours, it is still operating.
Continued back to MacIntosh island. Stopped and asked Mark, if all the 13 geese are still here. He said that they are, BUT there is internal fighting amongst the dominant males. I rode 1 lap, stopped for some water before heading homeward.
As I approached cafe Rockpool, there was no one waiting, so I stopped and had a coffee. The girl said that I haven't been there for awhile. I explained why I hadn't.
I sat down and drank my coffee.
Continued homeward via a lap of 'our' caravan park, I counted 71 caravans, 10 less than on Wed 29th July.
Arrived at home. Quite pleasant.
It was absolutely magic, back on my bike. I did miss it so much and managed to increase my weight by a kilo or two or three.
I had a couple of skin cancers cut out and have been grounded for minimum of 3 weeks. Can't do anything with my left arm. Doctor said NO RIDING. Bastard!!
Well Today, I couldn't stand it anymore, so I drove 'Spotto" to The Spit.
To my shock, horror. Both Spits are barricaded off as the Council is doing major enhancements and they plan to be closed until Xmas.
Bugger... There goes my sitting on my rock at the end of the Spit. My rock probably wont be there after the completion.
Today's highlight was: the magnificent weather - Coral Sea was like a mill pond with a small shorebreak.
I left at 7:22am. The breeze was very light and variable and warm enough that I didn't need to wear a second jersey or tights.
As usual, I rode Northward to my Lands End turnaround point. I continued down to MacIntosh Is. Said "Hi" to Mark and Nige. Continued on my way to Surfers. The bridge from MacIntosh island to Narrowneck is still blocked and still don't know when it will open. Very weird. I rode 1 lap of the park.
I headed to Surfers along the Esplanade, and stopped at my usual spot near Hanlan St and took my weather photos. I headed off to the Spit along the various shared paths, and weaved between the walkers.
I rode along Federation Walk to the Seaway then rode a lap of Doug Jennings Park (1.5km), then another lap extending to the end of Moondarewa Spit (inland spit) (3.5km). Then another lap of the Doug Jennings Park, then out to the end of The Spit (seaward spit). Sat on my rock, and ate my banana. Then repeated my ride back to Moondarewa Spit and another lap of the shared path of the Doug Jennings Park.
Then rode back along Seaworld Dve and stopped to look at the Tickford Supercars but everything was locked up and noone was around. Continued past the Southport SLSC. Arriving back at MacIntosh island, I rode 1 lap, stopped for some water before heading homeward.
As I approached cafe Rockpool, there was no one waiting, so I stopped and had a coffee. A bit different from Sunday's queue. I sat down and drank my coffee.
Continued homeward via a lap of 'our' caravan park, I counted 81 caravans, 12 less than on Thursday.
Arrived at home. Quite pleasant.
Another great ride.
Today's highlight was: watching the Tickford Supercar teams playing with their cars.
I left at 10:21am. The breeze was light and building from the South and warm enough that I didn't need to wear my spray jacket.

I headed to Surfers along the Esplanade, and stopped at my usual spot near Hanlan St and took my weather photos. I headed off to the Spit along the various shared paths, and weaved between the walkers.
I rode halfway along Federation Walk then along Seaworld Dve to the Seaworld Conference Centre where the 2 big B double Tickford transporters were parked. As I rode in, Cam Water's Mustang was parked beside the transporters and the mechanics were tuning it. I walked around taking photos and spoke to the guys. One of them asked if I wanted to come inside, which I jumped at. I was that excited, my inside photos were blurry as I was shaking.
I continued to the Seaway then rode a lap of Doug Jennings Park (1.5km), then another lap extending to the end of Moondarewa Spit (inland spit) (3.5km). Then another lap of the Doug Jennings Park, then out to the end of The Spit (seaward spit). Sat on my rock, and ate my banana. Then repeated my ride back to Moondarewa Spit and another lap of the shared path of the Doug Jennings Park.
Then rode back along Seaworld Dve and stopped again to look at the cars but everything was locked up and noone was around. Later, I found out that the 2 cars and team were 'displaying their skill' at the Seaworld water display. Finally, continued past the Southport SLSC. Arriving back at MacIntosh island, I rode 1 lap, stopped for some water before heading homeward.
As I approached cafe Rockpool, there was no one waiting, so I stopped and had a coffee. A bit different from Sunday's queue. I sat down and drank my coffee.
Continued homeward via a lap of 'our' caravan park, I counted 93 caravans, 3 more than on Tuesday.
Arrived at home. Quite pleasant.
Another great ride.
Today's highlight was: watching the Firemen practicing on their brand new $1.8m Fire truck with a 33m extendable ladder. Bloody nice.
I left at 7:41am. The breeze was light and building from the South and warm enough that I didn't need to wear my spray jacket.

Then repeated my ride back to Moondarewa Spit and another lap of the shared path of the Doug Jennings Park.
Then rode back along the gravel path again. Past the Southport SLSC. Arriving back at MacIntosh island, I noticed the Firemen and their big truck. I stopped and chatted to them, then rode 1 lap, stopped for some water before heading homeward. As I passed the firetruck, I stopped and took photos. As I was doing this the head guy walked over and started telling me about their $1.8m brand new firetruck with an extendable ladder upto 33m, today was at 22m. He also said they were training the new firemen to climb the ladder. Nice guy.
As I approached cafe Rockpool, there was no one waiting, so I stopped and had a coffee. A bit different from Sunday's queue. I sat down and drank my coffee.
Continued homeward via a lap of 'our' caravan park, I counted 90 caravans, 9 less than on Sunday.
Arrived at home. Quite pleasant.
Another great ride.
