Day 114 - Sunday 13th August 2017.

Tekno Open Day and I rode - Southport Day 83.

Another pleasant day - weather wise.

Today, Lukey, Mase and I were going to the 'open day' at Tekno Autosports in Yatala.

We slept well until 7:15am, laid in bed watching 'Weekend Sunrise', we got up, had brekky and drove over to Lukeys. Marg stayed with Mont, while Jo went to work and Lukey, Mase and me drove over to Tekno. The open day at Tekno was a petrolheads heaven, the cars that were on display and fan's cars were fantastic. See the link below for the 93 photos. My favourite was Lightning McQueen and the pale blue lambo. We stayed over an hour, watched the ribbon cutting by Mayor Tom Tate who drove up in his Ferrari.

Back at Lukeys, we said our goodbyes and Marg and I headed back home, stopping at Helensvale for a coffee and a small food shop at Woollies. Back at camp, we had lunch and I decided to go for a small ride out to the Spit and back.

My riding stats: Today's ride of 22.8kms is my 38th ride at Southport for a total of 1,316.8kms and gives me a total of 237.5kms at Dicky, giving me a total of 1,554.3kms so far in Qld.
Wildlife count while riding: Today's count was NIL.

For the remainder of the day, we buggered about at camp.

Dinner was the egg and turkey sangas. It was yumma.

Tomorrow, nothing is planned, I hope to ride to Burleigh Heads.

2:20pm - Today's weather photo taken at the Spit
check out the number of people, typical weekend.

2:18pm - The "Ancient Mariner" arriving at the seaway.

2:22pm - Another weather photo.

2:23pm - being Sunday there were people everywhere.

For a moment, I thought that we were back at Alice and not Southport.

When Lukey grows into a 'big man', he may be strong enough to ride with Mase to the end of the gravel Federation Walk.
This will be the view they see.

Day 115 - Monday 14th August 2017.

Andy Griffiths book signing and I rode - Southport Day 84.

Another pleasant day - weather wise.

Today, Our only planned activity was the Book signing at Helensvale Nightquarter.(An Evening with Andy Griffiths and Terry Denton)

We slept well until 7:00am, Marg laid in bed watching 'Sunrise', I got up, had brekky and turned into 'cycleman'.

I left camp at 7:41am and headed south through the Broadwater Parkland, past Southport YC, through Surfers, Broadbeach, Miami and finally arrived at Burleigh Heads. As I passed Robbie's cafe, I saw that Robbie was sitting in the corner and his bike was out the front. I thought you beauty, I will speak to Robbie in 30 minutes, once I ride to and from Burleigh Heads. You guessed it, as I returned, Robbie had done a 'runner', so I kept riding. Only stopping to take numerous photos of the dredge.
While riding south, I was pushing into a slight headwind, but thinking when I head homeward, I would have a slight tailwind. But it wasn't to be, I have a building headwind the whole way. Pushing into the Northerly, I stopped at a couple of spots to photograph the dredge in action. Took my usual weather photo at Surfers, then continued to the Spit via the gravel Federation Walk.
Being Monday, there were not anyone at the end of the Spit. After leaving the Spit, I stopped at cafe Rockpool and had a coffee served by "B". Then continued to Lands End, didn't check out our Apartment. And finally arriving back at camp at 11:38am after 58.0 kms. A great ride.

My riding stats: Today's ride of 58.0kms is my 39th ride at Southport for a total of 1,374.8kms and gives me a total of 237.5kms at Dicky, giving me a total of 1,612.3kms so far in Qld.
Wildlife count while riding: Today's count was NIL.

At 4:30pm, we left camp and drove to pick Mont from her dance class. I dropped Mont and Marg at Helensvale's NightQuarter about 5:30pm for a 6pm start. As I drove back to Lukeys, there were kids and adults everywhere. It will be busy.
Mont rang and I picked them up about 8pm. They loved it, it was like a pantomime. They received a signed copy of their latest book and a photo with them, but Mont didn't want a photo and Marg didn't complain as there were over 1,500 people there and the majority queued up for a photo.

Dinner was Maccas.

Bingo and I rode - Southport Day 85.

Another pleasant day - weather wise.

We set the alarm for 6:30am and was woken by 100.6FM playing music. We got up about 7:00am, showered, dressed and got ourselves organised and were on our way by 8:20am. We arrived at Sharks just after it opened at 8:30 and walked in and I claimed our table, while Marg went and ordered a coffee for me, and she ordered a juice and muffin for herself. I bought our normal set of bingo, which consisted of 2 sets of the normal games which comprises 40 games, plus 2 sets of jackpots plus 2 undercovers plus 2 lucky numbers for an even $50.
By half time, we hadn't won a thing, as usual, close, as in only 1 number but no cigar. After half time, Marg was playing below her standard and didn't win a thing and either did I. We were both losers today.

Our Bingo summary after our 12th appearance, paid $50 won zero. Outlaid to date: $600 and won so far: $452 current LOSS is $148.

On the way home from Bingo, we stopped at Aus Fair for a coffee and a small food shop at Woollies. After lunch, I changed into 'cycleman' and Marg was infected again by that 'nanna nap bug'.
I left camp at 1:20pm and headed south to Surfers where I took my daily weather photo, then continued to the Spit via the gravel Federation Walk. There were 3 workmen clearing the edges of the gravel track. After leaving the Spit, I stopped at cafe Rockpool and had 3 scoops of rum and raisin ice cream, then continued to Lands End, stopped in at our Apartment. I think they will be doing a pour this week. Finally arriving back at camp at 4:03pm after 37.5 kms. A great ride.

2:29pm -Para Glider.

Day 117 - Wednesday 16th August 2017.

A relaxing day - Southport Day 86.

Another pleasant day - weather wise.

We slept into until 7:30am, as we didn't have any meetings until 11am, when we meet Lukey and Mase at Helensvale.
We got up about 8:00am, showered, dressed, when Marg decided that we had to visit Aus Fair. We have a dilemma, Marg had 3 summer dresses which we put or packed somewhere and we cannot find them, SO she is buying new dresses. Any excuse, if you ask me.

We arrived at Aus Fair, visited a couple of shops, Marg bought something, then we drove over to Helensvale. While I waited at Donut King, Marg visited a few more shops, while I read the Gold Coast Bulletin on my iPad. About 11am, Lukey and Mase fronted and Jay arrived as well. Jay could only stay for a short time, before heading back home. After hotdogs, we took Mase to the playground, while Marg kept searching for clothes. She must have found some, because when we were leaving she had a few extra bags.

Back at camp, we had a late lunch and we both caught the 'nanna nap bug' and slept for an hour or so. During the arvo, I am buggering about changing my Photobucket code to my one drive code. It is a real 'pain in the arse'.

Dinner was Mr McCain's 'Gordon Blue' while Marg had oysters on bikkies.

Tomorrow, we are minding Mase and taking Mont to school.

A strange sight.

Check the regos on both.

Day 118 - Thursday 17th August 2017.

Minding the Grandkids - Southport Day 87.

Another pleasant day - weather wise.

We were woken by the alarm at 6:00am. We got up, showered, dressed, and were in the Bubble heading to Lukeys by 7:15am, arriving by 7:45am. I took Mont to school and by 9:00am, Marg, Mase and me were on our way back to camp.
Mase and I went for a ride on my other bike that is now Lukeys, as we have fitted the child seat to it. Mase and I rode from camp to Lands End, then turned around and continued to the bridge over the Nerang river and then back to camp. For a total of 15.3kms. that is the summary of the ride.
More detail, we stopped at numerous playgrounds where Mase tested various play equipment, which included a helicopter, slides and swings. The Gold Coast council can 'rest easy' as Mase gave them ALL, the 'thumbs up'. We also stopped at cafe Rockpool, where 'B' toasted some banana bread for Mase and me a coffee. We were moving on the bike for 1hr 20min and away from camp for 2hr 14min, arriving back at camp at 11:51am.
Mase absolutely loved it.
We dropped Mase home about 1pm, when Jo had finished her work.

My riding stats: Today's ride of 15.3kms is my 41st ride and Mase's 2nd ride at Southport for a total of 1,427.6kms and gives me a total of 237.5kms at Dicky, giving me a total of 1,665.1kms so far in Qld.
Wildlife count while riding: Today's count was NIL.

Dinner was Marg's world famous chicken, rice, cashews etc. Absolutely YUMMA.

For the remainder of the arvo, I buggered about on my laptop, while Marg caught that 'nanna nap bug'.

Tomorrow, we are minding Mase and picking Mont up from school and taking her to and from dance practice.

It is our 40th Wedding Anniversary today.
Happy anniversary, Petal.

No photos today.

Day 119 - Friday 18th August 2017.

Minding the Grandkids - Southport Day 88.

Another pleasant day - weather wise.

We didn't need to set the alarm, as we were leaving at 9:15am. After laying in bed watching "Sunrise", we got up, showered, dressed, and drove the Bubble to Lukeys, arriving about 9:40am. After Jo left for work, the three of us headed to camp, stopping at Gloria Jeans for raisin toast and coffee, before doing a small food shop, as Marg is making her 'world famous' sausage rolls for dinner. We arrived back at camp and Mase and I got ready for another ride, the same as yesterday, except that we were stopping at more playgrounds.
Mase and I went for our ride on my other bike that has the child seat. Mase and I rode from camp to Lands End, then turned around and continued to the bridge over the Nerang river and then back to camp. For a total of 14.1kms that is the summary of the ride.
Same as yesterday, we stopped at numerous playgrounds where Mase tested various play equipment, which included a helicopter, slides and swings. We also stopped at cafe Rockpool, where 'B' toasted some raisin bread for Mase and me a coffee. We were moving on the bike for 1hr 22min and away from camp for 2hr 12min, arriving back at camp at 1:27pm.
Thank God, Mase does enjoy his rides.
We got back to Mase's home, just in time for me to pick up Mont from school. Marg made Mont fried eggs on toast for dinner and I drove Mont to dance practice. At the same time, Marg was making her sausage rolls for dinner for all of us excluding Mont. I had to pick up Lukey from Helensvale station, as Jo doesn't finish work until 6pm tonight. A big day for Marg and I.

My riding stats: Today's ride of 14.1kms is my 42nd ride and Mase's 3rd ride at Southport for a total of 1,441.7kms and gives me a total of 237.5kms at Dicky, giving me a total of 1,679.2kms so far in Qld.

Mase in Helicopter. Notice teddy bear.

Mase on the slide. Notice teddy bear.

Day 120 - Saturday 19th August 2017.

A relaxing day and I rode - Southport Day 89.

Another pleasant day - weather wise.

I awoke about 7:30am and got up, as I wanted to ride. Marg woke enough to ask me to turn on "Weekend Sunrise", laid in bed and as I left after having brekky, Marg was still in bed, relaxing.
I left camp at 8;23am and there was an awful westerly wind gusting to 41kph. I headed north to Lands End, turned around and stopped at our Apartment. I spoke to one of the workers, they hope to pour the ground floor slab on next Friday. I thought that they would pour it early as they are a 'million' metal cables crisscrossing the floor, but now there are '10 million' cables crisscrossing the floor. I continued riding along the shared paths and along the Esplanade down to Surfers and then back via the gravel path out to the Spit. Heading back to camp, I stopped at Cafe Rockpool for a coffee. "B" informed me that she gave notice this morning. I told her that I will miss her, she said that she will be here for another 2 weeks. I arrived back at camp at 11:13am after 37.9kms.

Have I told you recently, that the showers are magnificent. Heaps of hot water pressure.

My riding stats: Today's ride of 37.9kms is my 43rd ride at Southport for a total of 1,479.6kms and gives me a total of 237.5kms at Dicky, giving me a total of 1,717.1kms so far in Qld.
Wildlife count while riding: Today's count was NIL.

My cycling long sleeve jersey is suffering from 'old age', so we visited a couple of bike shops looking for a new long sleeve jersey, but to NO avail. We also visited our Storage King, where I retrieved a couple of cycling short sleeve jerseys. I will have to wear sun block. We stopped at Aus Fair for a coffee and Marg is looking for shoes.

Back at camp for lunch and a nanna nap for Marg, while I caught up with some of my recorded tapes of this weekend Supercars at Sydney. Lowndesy qualified 10th for today's race.
We drove over to Lukeys about 5:30pm, as Mont was having a sleep over for her birthday. It was going very well.

Dinner was Jo's world famous pizza. Everyone said they were yumma.

We got home about 7pm.

Day 121 - Sunday 20th August 2017.

Another relaxing day and I rode - Southport Day 90.

Another pleasant day - weather wise.

I again woke about 7:30am and got up, as I wanted to ride. Marg woke enough to ask me to turn on "Weekend Sunrise", laid in bed and as I left after having brekky, Marg was still in bed, relaxing.
I left camp at 8;55am and there was an awful south easterly wind gusting to 32kph. I headed south along the shared paths and along the Esplanade down to Surfers and then back via the gravel path out to the Spit. Heading back to camp, I stopped at Cafe Rockpool for a coffee. After coffee, I rode to Lands End before heading back to camp, arriving at 11:55am after 37.8kms.

The shower was awesome.

My riding stats: Today's ride of 37.8kms is my 44th ride at Southport for a total of 1,517.4kms plus a total of 237.5kms at Dicky, giving me a total of 1,754.9kms so far in Qld.
Wildlife count while riding: Today's count was NIL.

As we haven't driven the mighty Navara for over a week, I wanted to take it for a drive. What better way, then to drive it to Fudge Heaven at Mt Tambourine. As we drove down Long st (the main street) there were no parking spots, so I did a u turn and 'fluked' a spot directly out the front of Fudge heaven. After parting with $40 on fudge, you also get a free coffee, so we sat out the front and drank our coffee.

We drove back to camp, and while I watched the Supercars (Lowndesy had a shit day and finished 23rd), Marg painted some rocks.

Dinner was the chicken, cashews leftovers from the other night. We managed to freeze 2 meals worth. One left. It was very yumma.

Fudge count, we each bought 5 pieces for $20, I have 2 pieces left and Marg has 3 pieces left.

Tomorrow, nothing is planned, I may ride in the morning.

11:51am - George at our boat ramp.

Day 122 - Monday 21st August 2017.

Another relaxing day - Southport Day 91.

There were clouds in the sky. Unbelieveable.

I managed to sleep until 7:45am, as I didn't wish to ride today, I was in no hurry to do anything. Marg stayed in bed and watched "Kochie". Eventually, after I showered, dressed and had brekky, I drove over to the local 'Op shop' and asked them if they want our 4 kitchen chairs, TV table and our very comfy lounge with lounge chairs. they said "Yes", so I drove the mighty Navara over to our Storage King and managed to get the chairs and TV table in the tray and delivered them back to Garry at the "Op shop". They will send their men over to pick up our lounge but will ring me towards the end of this week to arrange a suitable time.

Marg and I swapped the cars over, left the mighty Navara at the front of the Caravan park and are back in the Bubble. We drove to Aus Fair for a coffee and a small food shop. While there, we met a woman who couldn't remember where she parked her car. We wished her luck.
Back at camp, we had lunch and then both of us managed to have a nanna nap, before driving to Albert Community Centre near Pacific Fair, where Mont was performing her solo dance in the Gold Coast Eisteddfod. She received 'high commendable'. She was very good.

Coming back from Mont's dance, we stopped for KFC. It was very nice.

Fudge count, it is with a very heavy heart that I must report that there is no more fudge in our camp. Bugger. It was so yumma.

Tomorrow is Bingo.

No photos or riding today.

Day 123 - Tuesday 22nd August 2017.

Bingo - Southport Day 92.

Another pleasant day - weather wise.

We set the alarm for 6:30am but I did wake at 2:13am by the sound of rain on our roof, only light, but still rain. We were finally woken by 100.6FM playing music.
After half time, there was no improvement and for the 2nd week in a row, we haven't won a cent. This is just not good enough.

Our Bingo summary after our 13th appearance, paid $50 won zero. Outlaid to date: $650 and won so far: $452 current LOSS is $198.

Before Bingo, Jo texted us, asking if we wanted to meet her and Mase at Helensvale after Bingo. We did, SO we met them at Gloria Jeans for coffee and a chat.
Back at camp for a late lunch, then afterwards I finished changing the code on our Apartment web page, while Marg was 'savaged by that nanna nap bug' again.

Dinner was Marg's world famous sausage rolls. They were very yumma.

Tomorrow, Lukey just rang. We are minding the grandkids tomorrow.

No photos or riding today.
