Day 50 - Saturday 28th May 2016.

Riding in Southport - Day 1.

I slept like a log last night, not waking until 6am. Unreal for me, while Marg tossed and turned.
As we had nothing planned, I decided to go on my first ride this sojourn. I left at 6:37am and headed upto Labrador, then down to Surfers, then continued to Burleigh Heads, back to Cafe Rockpool for a coffee and muffin. I was chuffed that Kamal and Sean still remembered me. Back home at 9:33am.

My riding stats: Today's ride of 46kms gives me a total of 208kms for May and my 1st ride at Southport for a total of 46kms OR if you are really into figures, I have ridden 356kms since leaving home back on 9th April.

Here is my link to today's ride.

As I walked into our fiver, Marg was still in bed asleep, this was very unusual. I noticed that she was breathing, SO she hadn't died on me, when she woke, she told me that she had a migraine. SO she spent most of today in bed, watching her TV shows and sleeping. As I write this at 6:45pm, she is migraine free, which is great news.

After riding, I had a beautiful shower, the water pressure here is very good. I drove to Aus Fair and did a small food shop. For the rest of the day, I buggered about camp and 'waited' on Marg.

I cooked dinner tonight and did a great job of warming up 16 party pies. Naturally, they were YUMMA.

Tomorrow, I plan to go riding early and visit our boys later in the day.

Looking North.

Looking South towards the new 4 lane boatramp.

There is plenty of sand for sandcastles.

A better view of the redevelopment.

Our site 88.

Day 51 - Sunday 29th May 2016.

Southport - Day 2 - Marg is better.

Marg is back to her old self, fit as a bull but a nice looking bull. The migraine has left her.

I slept like a log last night, about 5:30am, I had my 2 blankets on and was still feeling cool, SO it was get up and find a 3rd blanket or get up and go riding. The second option was the winner. Marg slept on while I changed into 'cycleman' and left at 6:24am and headed to Surfers, then continued to Burleigh Heads. While at Burleigh Heads Lukey rang me and we agreed to meet at The Spit, he was on his motorbike and I was on my PUSH bike. I pushed myself and rode quicker than usual to get to The Spit. Lukey came looking for me and found me riding through Surfers, so he kept riding to Broadbeach before heading to The Spit. I beat him to the Spit, we chatted and then he rode back to camp to see Marg. I eventually arrived back at camp, Lukey stayed for 30 minutes and we chatted etc, we also walked out on the new redevelopment and Lukey reckons that Mase and Mont will love the new grassed area and beach. Plenty of sand for Grandpa to build sandcastles. We organised to drive to Lukeys about 11am, so we can see Jo and the grandkids.

My riding stats: Today's ride of 46kms gives me a total of 254kms for May and my 2nd ride at Southport for a total of 92kms OR if you are really into figures, I have ridden 402kms since leaving home back on 9th April.

At Lukeys, we removed the hitch from the mighty Navara and stored it in his shed. The main reason for removing the hitch is SO Dad can do multiple trips to the tip with our boys crap. Good old, Dad. We also picked up 3 camp chairs and Margs portable wardrobe that we store in Lukeys shed. Back at camp, I erected the portable wardrobe and Marg was happy to hang her 'surplus' clothes in it. During the arvo, we both had a nanna nap, I managed quite a long sleep.

We couldn't meet up with our other son Jay and partner, as they were busy, so we will catch up during the week after work.

After my gourmet meal last night (party pies), Marg thought that she would ease back into cooking dinner, by making Egg and Bacon sangas. They were YUMMA.

Tomorrow, I plan to go riding early and do SWEET FA as we usually do.

6:31am - Beautiful sunrise.

6:40am - Nerang river.

6:49am - Heading into Surfers.

7:24am - At Burleigh Heads - Looking North.

7:25am - At Burleigh Heads - Looking at the Point.

8:28am - Lukey arriving at The Spit.

Day 52 - Monday 30th May 2016.

Southport - Day 3.

I didn't sleep well, I started with my sleepingbag as a blanket and was too warm earlier in the night. Tonight, I will get it right. Woke up and got up at 6;15am.
Marg slept on while I changed into 'cycleman' and left at 6:30am and headed to Surfers, then continued to Burleigh Heads. While at Burleigh Heads Lookout, I ate my 1st banana, then headed back to The Spit, passing Robbie McEwen's cafe at Miami Beach, along the shared paths, through Broadbeach and Surfers then along the Federation Walk starting at the Southport SLSC and ending at the Seaway. Out to the end of The Spit, ate my 2nd banana, then along Seaworld Drive to Southport Yacht Club, then along the shared path, stopping at Cafe Rockpool for a muffin and coffee, then up through Labrador and Biggera Waters and then back to camp, about 58kms. This is my normal route. Sometimes I may duplicate some of these sections to increase my kms.

My riding stats: Today's ride of 58kms gives me a total of 312kms for May and my 3rd ride at Southport for a total of 150kms OR if you are really into figures, I have ridden 460kms since leaving home back on 9th April.

Here is my link to today's ride.

After showering, Marg and I drove over to Lukeys during his lunchtime (as he was working from home). Lukey and I went to Bunnings to buy stuff. After leaving Lukeys, we stopped at Westfield Helensvale, where I had my $10 haircut, you don't have to be a rocket scientist to give a crewcut. We stopped at Gloria Jeans for lunch. We then stopped at Chemist Warehouse to have a script filled and finally got back to camp. For the remainder of the arvo, we did SWEET FA.

Marg made her 'world famous' cheese and onion damper. It was YUMMA.

Tomorrow is BINGO.. Wish us luck.

7:36am - At Burleigh Heads.

9:36am - Who could have eaten my muffin?

9:59am - My Northern turnaround point in Biggera Waters.

Day 53 - Tuesday 31st May 2016.

Southport - Bingo and Riding - Day 4.

We slept very well until 6:30am, when I got up and went on the internet, while Marg watched 'Sunrise'. We had brekky and got ourselves organised for Bingo and left at 8:20am. Arrived at the Sharks about 10 minutes later, but the place was jumping. I brought 2 full sets plus 2 lucky numbers for $46 and then sat at 'our' table, as it was free. Marg and I marked the various games and were ready for the 9:30am eyes down with heaps of time to spare, so Marg went and ordered coffee and cake. I didn't get a look in, at least Marg won $20, we were very close on other games, BUT stiff, you don't win with very close. Bring on next Tuesday. PS: I did win a $8 voucher with the lucky door prize.
Our Bingo summary after our 1st week, paid $46 won $20 currently losing $26. Off to a great start.

Back at camp at lunchtime, I went riding while Marg did her thing in my absence. I left at 12:25pm and headed to Burleigh Heads, then out to The Spit, followed by coffee at Cafe Rockpool then out to the Lands End bridge at Biggera Waters, which is my normal Northernly turnaround point and arrived back at camp at 3:40pm. There was snoring noises emanating from inside the fiver. Marg was having a nanna nap.

My riding stats: Today's ride of 57kms gives me a total of 369kms for May and my 4th ride at Southport for a total of 207kms OR if you are really into figures, I have ridden 517kms since leaving home back on 9th April.

After showering, I buggered about on the internet, while Marg awoke from her slumber.

We are emptying the freezer, so we can do a food shop tomorrow, SO dinner was Mr Mc Cains' pizza slices. They were nice.

Tomorrow: - morning ride and arvo shopping then relaxing.

Southport - visited Bec and Jay and Riding - Day 5.

I slept shithouse, I heard the roadworks that are happening during the night, you can hear the engine noises. I couldn't get back to sleep after 5:30am, SO I got up and changed into 'cycleman' and left at 6:00am and headed to Surfers, then continued to Burleigh Heads, then headed back to The Spit, passing Robbie McEwen's cafe at Miami Beach, along the shared paths, through Broadbeach and Surfers then along the Federation Walk starting at the Southport SLSC and ending at the Seaway. Out to the end of The Spit, then along Seaworld Drive to Southport Yacht Club, then along the shared path, stopping at Cafe Rockpool for a muffin and coffee, then up through Labrador and Biggera Waters and then back to camp, about 58kms. This is my normal route.

My riding stats: Today's ride of 57kms gives me a total of 57kms for June and 369kms for May and my 5th ride at Southport for a total of 264kms OR if you are really into figures, I have ridden 574kms since leaving home back on 9th April.

After showering, we drove to Spotlight, Marg needed more wool for her crocheting, she is crocheting a multi coloured blanket. While Marg went into Spotlight, I walked into Anaconda looking for new cycling knicks. I will wait for their stocktaking sale. We then visited South Park for a coffee and food shopping. For the remainder of the arvo, we sat and listened to the music on 92.5Gold FM, I buggered about on the internet, while Marg crocheted.
At 5pm, we drove over to Jay and Bec's to catch up. It was the first time that we had seen Bec engagement ring, it is very nice. We were back at camp by 7:30pm.

Day 55 - Thursday 2nd June 2016.

Southport - It's Thursday and we are at Southport. say no more - Day 6.

I slept well, even if I heard 2 separate periods of rain on the roof. I woke at 5:30am BUT managed to go back to sleep, finally getting up just after 7am. I had weet bix for brekky. Marg was 'dead to the world', SO I changed into 'cycleman' and left at 7:46am. As I walked out the door, there was a beautiful 'rainbow' and a few drops of misty rains. I decided as it was not a pleasant day, that I will ride the 'short' route today, which consisted of turning around at Laycock Ave in Surfers and going out to the Spit and Labrador and then back to camp. Well, I realised that I stuffed up as I was riding through Broadbeach, so much for my 'short' ride. The only positive was that it was dry. SO I did my 'normal' ride down to Burleigh.
As I passed the $1B Jewel Gold Coast, they were erecting a 4th monster crane, yesterday they were doing a BIG concrete pour. The joint is jumping. I continued to Burleigh Heads, then headed back to The Spit, stopping at Robbie McEwen's cafe at Miami Beach for a coffee, then along the shared paths, through Broadbeach and Surfers then along the Federation Walk starting at the Southport SLSC and ending at the Seaway. Out to the end of The Spit, I watched Meridan Passage 11 enter the seaway, ate my bananas AND watched a dolphin making its way out to sea. I missed the photo chance, sorry. Then along Seaworld Drive to Southport Yacht Club, then along the shared path, up through Labrador and Biggera Waters and then back to camp, about 57kms. This is my normal route.

My riding stats: Today's ride of 57kms gives me a total of 114kms for June and 369kms for May and my 6th ride at Southport for a total of 321kms OR if you are really into figures, I have ridden 631kms since leaving home back on 9th April.

After showering, we drove to Australia Fair, Marg wanted more wool for her crocheting. While there, we walked everywhere looking for DonutKing, it appears that it has closed and vanished, so we went to a coffee shop.
For the remainder of the arvo, we sat and listened to the music on 92.5Gold FM, I buggered about on the internet, while Marg crocheted.
At 3:45pm, we got ready to head to OUR Club CSI Southort. We do OUR club on Thursdays, not that we are 'creatures of habit' BUT we are. Thursday at 4pm, we arrive at CSI, Marg plays the pokies until 5:30pm, while I sit in the 'bar area' with a chilled refresher or two and update this website, then at 5:30pm we move to the bistro and have dinner. Tonight, our friends David and Di are due to meet us here and join us for dinner. They arrived and we had a catch up and nice meals.

Marg had meatballs, while I had a pizza. Both were very yumma.

10:18am - In the calm seaway.

12:37pm - It rained today.

Day 56 - Friday 3rd June 2016.

Southport - The rains are coming... Day 7.

I slept fair, as the forecast is for 90kph winds and upto 120mm on Saturday, so the worrier in me took over and I worried. I got up at 6:30am and rolled in the awning, packed up the 3 sides into their bags and stowed them in their storage area. Marg's portable wardrobe is now in the fiver. Marg is devastated as the wardrobe blocks the foxtel remote and she has too move a bit. Now this is the sort of stress that we have too live with.
Everything outside is neatly stowed away, consequently, I didn't go riding and probably wont for the next 2 days, but you never know, they maybe a window of opportunity arise.

Late morning, we drove to DonutKing at Helensvale for, you guessed it, coffee and cinnamon donuts. As we walked back to the mighty Navara, it started to rain, so Marg waited under the Westpac awning, while I battled the elements and got the mighty Navara and picked her up. She did get slightly damp crossing over the road, while I was a drowned rat.

During the arvo, we both managed a nanna nap, but I was woken by heavy rain on the roof, then it stopped. We had more intermittent rain squalls come through BUT tomorrow is meant to the FINAL Armageddon.

Marg cooked roast lamb with vegies. It was ABSOLUTELY SENSATIONALLY YUMMA. (it just happens to be our fav meal).

Tomorrow: play it by ear, weatherwise.

No Photos today (except for ONE).

A picture is worth a thousand YUMMA..
