The Arctic Freeze is STILL here - Dicky Day 15.
- Weather: Cold and Sunny and Rain - Min 12.5° Max 20.2° Rain 4.4mm
- Wind: 22 - 41kph South
I have recovered from my cold.
We woke up about 7:00am. We were meeting Bob and Val for brekky at Coco's cafe at Currimundi Lake at 9am, so we got dressed and just buggered about camp until 8:55am, when we drove there. Bob and Val walked there and also bought their friends Colin and Jan with them. Marg and I drove as we were going shopping after brekky. We arrived at Cocos, and got a table for six. There were 3 other tables occupied. In the carpark opposite was a 4WD with "Dr Snip' advertising all over it. SO while waiting, Marg and I checked out the other tables trying to work out WHO Dr Snip was. I choose an old dude and Marg choose a younger dude. When Bob, Val, Colin and Jan arrived, my 'Dr Snip' left and got into a different car. We all ordered brekky (2 eggs, bacon or 2 sausages, tomato and toast 2 for $10) Unreal. Marg had bacon, I had snags, they were yumma. After brekky, the six of us went our separate ways. The young dude was still at Cocos and the 'Dr Snip' 4WD was still there. We assumed that he was 'Dr Snip'.
Marg and I drove to Woollies at Currimundi and did some food shopping.
About 11:00am, I changed into 'cycleman' and did my now normal route of approx 47kms. I headed off to Point Cartwright Lighthouse, did a U turn in the lighthouse carpark, and rode back to Beach Drive about 7kms away into an awful Southerly headwind, before turning around again and heading back to the Lighthouse and then down the hill to the Spit. Due to the Southerly, the point surf was up and there were 10 surfers out. I sat at The Spit and ate my 2 bananas, then up the hill to the Lighthouse and back to camp. A total of 46.8kms.
My riding stats: Today's ride of 47kms gives me a total of 603kms for July. June's total was 946kms. My 11th ride at Dicky brings my total at Dicky to 459kms OR if you are really into figures, I have ridden 2,354kms since leaving home back on 3rd May.
Before I showered, it was time to empty the shitter, which I did, then had a beautful shower, then lunch. About 3pm, I walked (without Marg, she didn't want to go) over to 'Reelax at Dicky' for a coffee and sat there and read the Herald Sun on my iPad. Same as yesterday, the rain squalls came through about 4pm. It is still jeans and jumper weather.
Dinner was frozen pies.
Tomorrow nothing is currently planned apart from my ride.
Today's weather photo at the Lighthouse at 12:56pm.
Birdman couldn't take off.

The Arctic Freeze is STILL here - Dicky Day 16.
- Weather: Cool and Overcast - Min 13.3° Max 20.6°
- Wind: 15 - 37kph East
I woke up about 7:00am, while Marg slept peacefully. I had brekky and as it was not raining, I changed into 'cycleman' and headed off to Point Cartwright Lighthouse, as it looked like it would rain at any moment, I didn't ride the extra 14kms. I rode down the hill to the Spit. The surf was choppy and there were only 4 surfers trying to catch a wave. I sat at The Spit and ate my 2 bananas, then up the hill to the Lighthouse and back to camp. A total of 32.9kms.
My riding stats: Today's ride of 33kms gives me a total of 636kms for July. June's total was 946kms. My 12th ride at Dicky brings my total at Dicky to 492kms OR if you are really into figures, I have ridden 2,387kms since leaving home back on 3rd May.
After I showered, Marg and I walked over to 'Reelax at Dicky' for coffee and cake, we sat there and read the Herald Sun on our iPads. After coffee, we walked along the beach, it was cool but very pleasant. The water was rough as. The remainder of the day was spent buggering about at camp. I was on my laptop, while Marg managed a nanna nap.
Dinner was Marg's world famous 'Mini Mes' (mini pizzas) They were yumma.
Tomorrow is Bingo.

Bingo - Dicky Day 17.
- Weather: Mild and Overcast - Min 14.2° Max 20.9° Rain 8.6mm
- Wind: 11 - 20kph South East
We woke up about 7:00am. We had brekky and got ourselves organised for Bingo and left at 8:35am. We walked the 100m to Dicky Beach SLSC and just as we sat down, it bucketed down. That was brilliant timimg.
Marg got us 'our normal' table at the back of the room, while I brought 2 full set $48. We marked the various games and were ready for the 9:30am eyes down with heaps of time to spare. Val and Jan arrived about 9:10am, we helped the girls organise their bingo cards and we were ready to go at 9:30am. It was Jan's first Bingo. Again, I fired up well, called Bingo and again Val nearly jumped out of her skin. I got $15, then Marg won $30, both Val and Jan didn't have any luck today. There is always next week. It was another great day, but overall we lost $3.
Our Bingo summary after our 11th week, paid $48 won $45 currently our holiday to Date losing $17 at Dicky and $94 at Southport bringing our total to a loss of $111. Our overall loss has increased by a 'bee's dick'.
Back at camp at lunchtime, Marg was going to bugger about at camp, while I went riding. It was overcast and cool with threatening rain clouds. I headed off to Point Cartwright Lighthouse, did a U turn in the lighthouse carpark and also put on my wet weather jacket, as there were afew drops in the air. Rode back to Beach Drive about 7kms away, before turning around again and heading back to the Lighthouse and then down the hill to the Spit. Due to the Easterly, the point surf was up and there were 8 surfers out. I sat at The Spit and ate my 2 bananas, then up the hill to the Lighthouse and back to camp. A total of 46.9kms.
My riding stats: Today's ride of 47kms gives me a total of 682kms for July. June's total was 946kms. My 13th ride at Dicky brings my total at Dicky to 538kms OR if you are really into figures, I have ridden 2,433kms since leaving home back on 3rd May.
After I showered, I walked (without Marg, she didn't want to go) over to 'Reelax at Dicky' for a coffee and sat there and read the Herald Sun on my iPad. This is a daily occurences after my ride.
Dinner was the leftover "mini Mes" and they were yumma.
Tomorrow, nothing is planned.
Today's weather photo at the Lighthouse at 1:37pm.

The weather improved today - Dicky Day 18.
- Weather: Overnight Rain,Mild and Sunny - Min 15.4° Max 21.7° Rain 1.4mm
- Wind: 11 - 20kph South East
We heard rain on our roof overnight, it came in small bursts.
We woke up about 7:00am. As it was wet outside, we decided to visit Maroochydore's Sunshine Plaza looking for a new egg poacher. We had brekky and got ourselves organised and left about 10am. We drove to The Plaza, found a parking space easily and visited Kmart, Coles, Target and some Kitchen shops. We only found one for $70, we gave it a miss. As lunchtime was approaching, we visited the Food Court and in particular, we had Spuds. They were yumma. On the way home, we called into Maroochydore's Homemaker Centre, which is next door. We checked out Harvey Norman, no good. Homeart has shut up shop, pity, they probably would have one. While walking around there, we visited the Dollar Tree shop another $2 shop. I bought another statue of George, that is 3 so far this trip. I would take a photo BUT they are wrapped up in bubblewrap.
Back at camp, Marg was going next door to our club to play the pokies, SO I went riding for something different. I headed off to Point Cartwright Lighthouse, did a U turn in the lighthouse carpark and took off my jacket, as the sun was out and a very pleasant 21°. Rode back to Beach Drive about 7kms away, I noticed 2 dogs walking around the footpath by themselves, before turning around again and heading back to the Lighthouse and then down the hill to the Spit. Due to the Easterly, the point surf was up and there were 6 surfers out. I sat at The Spit BUT didn't eat any bananas, as I have run out, then up the hill to the Lighthouse and back towards camp. As I heading towards Beach Dve, a ute with the 2 dogs in the back drove past me. For whatever reason, it stopped and I spoke to the driver. He said that they were his dogs and he was working in the garage, when they went for their walk. Someone found them and took them to a Vet who contacted the owner. Today's ride was 46.8kms.
My riding stats: Today's ride of 47kms gives me a total of 731kms for July. June's total was 946kms. My 14th ride at Dicky brings my total at Dicky to 585kms OR if you are really into figures, I have ridden 2,480kms since leaving home back on 3rd May.
Bob came over and asked us over for drinks about 4:30pm. We spent about an hour at Bob and Val's van, it was a very pleasant time.
Dinner was the leftover "mini Mes" and they were yumma.
Tomorrow, Marg has a hair appointment.
Today's weather photo at the Lighthouse at 2:03pm.

The weather is STILL improving - Dicky Day 19.
- Weather: Overnight Rain, Mild and Sunny - Min 14.9° Max 23.9° Rain 1.2mm
- Wind: 0 - 20kph Variable
Marg woke and got up at 5:30am, I rolled over and went back to sleep. When I queried her at a more reasonable hour (7:30am), she said she went to sleep before 9pm and was awake. You can't argue with that logic.
Today was a quiet day, Marg had an 11am hair appointment and I went riding.
I got about 7:30am ish and had brekky and left Marg buggering about camp, doing her thing (reading, doing crosswords or doing her craft stuff). I went riding for
something different. I headed off to Point Cartwright Lighthouse, did a U turn in the lighthouse carpark and got divebombed by 2 magpies. One maggie attacked me yesterday, but I couldn't see it. Today, I saw both maggies after they hit my helmet. No damage and they didn't cause me to alter my line. SO all good. After such a 'traumatic experience' I continued back to Beach Drive about 7kms away, I didn't see the dogs today, before turning around again and heading back to the Lighthouse and then down the hill to the Spit. The surf is still pumping well and there were 4 surfers out. I sat at The Spit BUT didn't eat any bananas, as I have run out and forgot to buy more (Marg's fault), then up the hill to the Lighthouse and back towards camp. Today's ride was 46.8kms.
My riding stats: Today's ride of 47kms gives me a total of 775kms for July. June's total was 946kms. My 15th ride at Dicky brings my total at Dicky to 632kms OR if you are really into figures, I have ridden 2,527kms since leaving home back on 3rd May.
After showering, I walked over to 'Reelax at Dicky' for a coffee and read the Herald Sun on my iPad. I also checked on Marg who was next door at the hairdressers. She was wrapped to see me. Not.
I wandered back to camp about midday and had lunch. Marg eventually walked in about 2pm. Her hair cut, colour and any other crap she has done took 3 hours and cost about $175. My haircut takes probably 10 minutes max and costs $10 for a #4 crewcut. I can't talk her into a #4 crewie, but I wont give up.
After Marg got organised, we drove over to Woollies at Currimundi about 2kms away, for a coffee and donuts at Donut King and some food shopping at Woollies. The remainder of the arvo was spent buggering about at camp. Marg had a nanna nap, something to do with sitting in a chair for over 3 hours, while I amused myself on my laptop.
About 5pm, we will walk over to 'Reelax at Dicky' for their world famous hamburgers. They WILL BE yumma.
Tomorrow, nothing is planned.
Today's weather photo at the Lighthouse at 9:57am.

The weather is STILL improving - Dicky Day 20.

We both slept shithouse last night, we tossed and turned all night, before Marg had had enough and got up at 4:40am, I laid in bed for awhile, trying to get back to sleep but couldn't. I gave up and finished reading my book. By about 8:30am, Marg and I had finished brekky and decided to go for a walk along the beach.
It was a lovely day for a walk along the beach, no breeze, warm ish (we both wore shorts and shirt) and a flat ocean with a small shore break. We sat and watch the surfers, also a young couple were walking their dogs off the leash, when both bolted. We watched them run for about 500 meters with the owners chasing them. After our walk, we finished up at 'Reelax at Dicky' for a coffee and reading the Herald Sun on our iPads.
After having lunch at camp. Marg went and had a nanna nap and I decided to go for a ride. I headed off to Point Cartwright Lighthouse, did a U turn in the lighthouse carpark and was prepared to be divebombed by yesterday's magpies, but they didn't show up. I continued back to Beach Drive about 7kms away, before turning around again and heading back to the Lighthouse and then down the hill to the Spit. The surf at the Point Break was flat, so there weren't any surfers there. I watched the prawning boat "sea Breeze" going off to work. I sat at The Spit and ate my 2 bananas, I remembered to buy them. Then up the hill to the Lighthouse and back towards camp. Today's ride was 47.2kms.
My riding stats: Today's ride of 47kms gives me a total of 822kms for July. June's total was 946kms. My 16th ride at Dicky brings my total at Dicky to 679kms OR if you are really into figures, I have ridden 2,574kms since leaving home back on 3rd May.
After showering, I walked over to 'Reelax at Dicky' by myself, marg was still asleep, for another coffee and continued reading the Herald Sun on my iPad.
The remainder of the arvo was spent buggering about at camp.
Dinner was nanchos. They were yumma.
Tomorrow, nothing is planned.

What a pearler of a day - Dicky Day 21.
- Weather: Warm and Sunny - Min 12.2° Max 26.6°
- Wind: 0 - 30kph North
What a difference a day makes. We both slept magnificently last night, a complete change from the previous night. We woke about 7:15am.
Marg and I had brekky and while Marg made herself comfy in her chair, I headed off for a ride.
Being Sunday and a beautiful flat ocean with no breeze, the boaties were out in force. I sat at The Spit and ate my 2 bananas, then up the hill to the Lighthouse. As I left the carpark, I was in swooper terrority, so I stopped and looked for my little feathered buddy. I saw him 'eyeballing me' from his perch at the top of a tall tree, so I took a photo of him. Obviously, he wasn't impressed with the photo and as I started rolling down the hill, he hit my helmet 3 times. None were hard enough to be of any concern, so I continued on back to camp. Today's ride was 46.5kms.
My riding stats: Today's ride of 47kms gives me a total of 869kms for July. June's total was 946kms. My 17th ride at Dicky brings my total at Dicky to 726kms OR if you are really into figures, I have ridden 2,623kms since leaving home back on 3rd May.
After showering, we drove to Woollies at Currimundi for a largish shop, a bit annoyed as Donut King was closed. So after unpacking the mighty Navara, Marg and I walked over to 'Reelax at Dicky', for a coffee and we both had downloaded the Herald Sun on our iPads, so we sat in the shade, sipped coffee, read the Herald Sun and watched the world go bye. You couldn't ask for more.
While I was out riding, Val came over and Marg is cooking a roast for dinner and Val is making the desert, so after Marg managed to squeeze in a nanna nap,
she prepared and cooked our roast. About 5:45pm, Marg and I carried the roast and vegies over to Bob and Val's van, I came back and got our chairs and table. Val supplied the plates and cutlery. Val's desert of Strawberries, Bananas, ice cream was YUMMA. We ate, chatted and had a great time.
Dinner was roast lamb with vegies. Absolutely YUMMA.
Tomorrow, nothing is planned.

Marg was feeling a tad second rate - Dicky Day 22.
- Weather: Warm and Sunny - Min 12.6° Max 23.7°
- Wind: 0 - 43kph South West
I slept well, Marg was snoring due to her blocked sinuses and spend most of today either laying in bed reading or sleeping.
I had brekky and left Marg in bed and then I headed off for a ride. My normal route except today, I was divebombed by my little feathered birdy, he hit my helmet
three times, without causing me any dramas. I sat at The Spit and ate my 2 bananas and took some photos. Today's ride was 46.4kms.
My riding stats: Today's ride of 46kms gives me a total of 915kms for July. June's total was 946kms. My 18th ride at Dicky brings my total at Dicky to 771kms OR if you are really into figures, I have ridden 2,669kms since leaving home back on 3rd May.
When I arrived back at camp, Marg was asleep in bed, so I showered and then walked over to 'Reelax at Dicky', for a coffee and read the Herald Sun on my iPad, I sat in the shade, sipped my coffee, read the Herald Sun and watched the world go bye. It was magic.
Eventually, Marg got up and lazed in her chair in the annex. We spent the arvo just buggering about camp. I jacked up the fiver and removed the rear right wheel, as I noticed while we were at Southport over the 2 months the pressure had dropped 17 psi, very strange. Upon checking out the wheel I was very happy to see a small brass nail in the tread, I dropped the wheel in at the local tyre place and it will be ready tomorrow lunchtime.
I had a McCains frozen pizza, it was nice. Marg gave dinner amiss and had a sleep.
Tomorrow, I will pick up the wheel about midday.

Marg is back to normal - Dicky Day 23.
- Weather: Warm and Sunny - Min 12.3° Max 19.6°
- Wind: 19 - 39kph South
We both slept well, Marg woke up feeling back to her 'old' self.
After checking on Marg's health, I had brekky and left her in bed and headed off for a ride. My normal route and something that is becoming a 'norm' that I
could live without. I was divebombed by my little feathered birdy, he hit my helmet FIVE times, still not causing me any dramas. I ride upto the Lighthouse carpark twice, as I ride 2 'laps'. Anyway, first ride to the carpark, No birdie, turn around and roll down the hill to start my extra 14kms circuit, he hit me twice, coming up the hill for a second time, he came and greeted me with one hit, then as I was rolling down the hill for home, he came to say goodbye with another 2 hits on my helmet. It is really unbelieveable that in all the years that I have been riding, I cannot remember being 'hit' by a bird and within the past 5 days my little feathered buddy has hit me 14 times.
In between liasing with my little feathered buddy, I sat at The Spit and ate my 2 bananas and watched one of the Pilot boats come in. Today's ride was 46.7kms.
My riding stats: Today's ride of 47kms gives me a total of 962kms for July. June's total was 946kms. My 19th ride at Dicky brings my total at Dicky to 818kms OR if you are really into figures, I have ridden 2,713kms since leaving home back on 3rd May.
When I arrived back at camp, the excitement was up at Alan's camp, he had just bought himself a Satellite package, so Merv, Bob, Terry and Alan were in various stages of supervisoring and/or actually doing something helpful. I left them to it and wandered over to have a shower. After showering, they were still buggering about trying to set it up. Marg was over talking to the 'girls', so I interrupted her and said I was going for a coffee at 'Reelax at Dicky', she joined me and we walked over sat in the sun, read the Herald Sun on our iPads and watched the world go bye. After we finished our coffees, we walked the long way back to camp and noticed that the 'Mental Giants' were still 'trying' to setup Alan's Dish. I stopped and rendered heaps of 'verbal' assistance, which they didn't need, so I helped them. We spent over an hour, we 'error checked' all cables, replaced the LNB, even connected Alan's cable direct to Bob's Dish. It worked. That meant that Alan's problem, apart from us, was his cable, Dish or LNB. A bit of history, Alan's Dish has the moveable arm with the LNB, we checked that the arm was fully extended, I didn't move so we were happy with it. UNTIL Alan tells us that he tightened the arm in that position and that is why we couldn't move it. After probably 1.5 hours of 'fun' Alan told us about tightening the arm, so we loosened it and guess what, it probably moved down about 3 inches, found the satellite, the finder is screaming its high pitch sound and Alan's wife (Donna) is inside the van looking at the TV for quality, she is yelling out its 100%. So everyone is now happy. I would like to thank Alan for filling in about an hour of my life.
After lunch, I drove over and picked up my wheel for the fiver, I kindly declined any help from our group of 'Mental giants'. I put the wheel on without any hassles and for the rest of the arvo, I buggered about on my laptop and Marg managed to have a nanna nap.
Marg had a heap of vegies leftover from the other night's roast, SO she slow cooked them into a very thick soup ish looking 'thing'. Needless to say, it was absolutely YUMMA.
Tomorrow is Bingo.

We woke up about 7:00am. We had brekky and got ourselves organised for Bingo and left at 8:30am. We walked the 100m to Dicky Beach SLSC, at least this week, it was dry and sunny.
Marg got us 'our normal' table at the back of the room, while I brought 2 full set $48. We marked the various games and were ready for the 9:30am eyes down with heaps of time to spare. Val and Jan arrived about 9:00am, we helped the girls organise their bingo cards and we were ready to go at 9:30am. Again, I fired up well, called Bingo and again Val nearly jumped out of her skin. I got $5, then Marg won $2.50 and then $30, Jan won $15 and Val had no luck. Next week Marg and I should be back at the Southport Sharks.
It was another great day, but overall we lost $10.50.
Our Bingo summary after our 12th week, paid $48 won $37.5 currently our holiday to Date losing $27.50 at Dicky and $94 at Southport bringing our total to a loss of $121.50. Our overall loss has increased by a 'bee's dick'.
As I was going for a ride, I needed 37kms to break 1,000kms ridden for this month, Marg decided to stay at the Club and play the pokies. She won $100.
Back at camp, I had lunch and then headed off for a ride. My normal route and my little feathered birdy, (maggie the swooper) didn't show today. I headed off to
Point Cartwright Lighthouse, did a U turn in the lighthouse carpark. Rode back to Beach Drive about 7kms away, before turning around again and heading back to the Lighthouse and then down the hill to the Spit. Due to the Southerly, the Point Break was up and there were 6 surfers out. I sat at The Spit and ate my 3 smaller bananas, then up the hill to the Lighthouse and back to camp. A total of 46.6kms.
My riding stats: Today's ride of 47kms gives me a total of 1,009kms for July. June's total was 946kms. My 20th ride at Dicky brings my total at Dicky to 865kms OR if you are really into figures, I have ridden 2,760kms since leaving home back on 3rd May.
When I arrived back at camp, Marg was having a nanna nap, so I showered, and walked over to 'Reelax at Dicky' for a coffee and sat there and read the Herald Sun on my iPad.
Dinner was the leftover "soup" from last night, it was yumma.
Tomorrow, Bob, Val, Colin and Jan and Marg and me are having lunch at Mary Cairncross lookout near Maleny.

- Weather: Mild and Sunny - Min 8.0° Max 21.4°

We woke up about 7:30am. We had brekky and got ourselves organised, as today we were going to
Mary Cairncross Cafe, Scenic Lookout and Rainforest with Bob and Val,and Col and Jan, for lunch and a walk through their 1.7km rainforest.
It is 32kms from camp, we left camp about 10:45am and arrived about 11:30am, parked the mighty Navara and walked over to the Cafe and found a table for the six of us. We had coffee and steak burgers for lunch, then we walked through their rainforest. It was awesome. We had a great time with great company. On our way home, Marg and I stopped at the Maleny Fudge shop, where someone parted with over $50 for fudge. I don't know who. After Maleny, we drove via Montville and stopped at Strawberry Fields, as Marg wanted more strawberry jam
Finally back at camp, Marg had a nanna nap,
while I walked to the beach to see the workmen removing most of the structure of the SS Dicky which is above the sand.
As I walked back to camp, David and Di (our Trailblazers twin) arrived in our park, so I walked over and chatted to them, they are here for 2 nights before they head to Tallebudgera for a month of relaxing, after going from Tallebudgera to Cooktown and return. We went to our club and the four of us had drinks and a chat. It was great to catch up with them after their trip North. When we go back to the Broadwater TP next Monday, we will catch up for dinner.
Dinner was McCain's frozen pizza, it was yumma.

Chillin' at Dicky - Dicky Day 26.
- Weather: Warm and Sunny - Min 8.5° Max 24.3°
- Wind: 9 - 26kph North
We both slept well, I woke and got up about 7:00am while Marg was sound asleep, so I changed into 'cycleman' and left camp at 7:45am and went for a ride.
As I have already ridden over 1,000kms for July, I rode to the Lighthouse, Spit and home, NO 2nd lap, SO I only rode 32.9kms. My little feathered buddy hasn't
been seen for my past 2 rides. I sat at The Spit and ate my 2 bananas.
My riding stats: Today's ride of 33kms gives me a total of 1,042kms for July. June's total was 946kms. My 21st ride at Dicky brings my total at Dicky to 898kms OR if you are really into figures, I have ridden 2,793kms since leaving home back on 3rd May.
After I showered, Marg and I walked over to 'Reelax at Dicky' for a coffee and sat there and read the Herald Sun on our iPads. After coffee we walked down to the beach and watched the workers finish covering the remains of the SS Dicky with sand. The workers dug a trench beside the remains and took GPS readings, they also removed the last remaining steel pole that penetrated the surface by about 3 feet, as it would have been a safety problem, with beach walkers accidently walking into it.
After lunch, we drove to Woollies Currimundi for a small shop and when back at camp, David and Di popped in on their way back from the Dicky Beach shopping strip. For the remainder of the arvo, Marg had a nanna nap while I went back to the SS Dicky and watched the workers cover the last pieces of the SS Dicky with sand. They did a great job and it was a little bit sad, as there are now no pieces of Dicky poking out of the beach.
Dinner was hamburger and potato cakes(scallops) and chips from 'reelax at Dicky'. It was yumma.
Tomorrow nothing is planned.
Today's weather photo at the Lighthouse at 8:36am.
The surfers were out.
Looking towards Alexandra Headlands.
A nice silhouetted view.
George and his mate came to say "hi".
My other weather photo.
Chillin' at Dicky - Dicky Day 27.
- Weather: Warm and Sunny - Min 7.4° Max 23.4°
- Wind: 6 - 28kph North
We both slept well, I woke and got up about 7:00am while Marg was sound asleep, so I changed into 'cycleman' and left camp at 7:30am and went for a ride.
I rode to the Lighthouse, Spit and home, with the usual 2nd lap, I rode 46.7kms. My little feathered buddy - Maggie the swooper flew beside me on my 1st trip to the Lighthouse carpark, I thought that he now loves me, on my 2nd ride to the carpark, he hit me twice, bringing his total strikes to 16. I rode down to the Spit and ate my 2 bananas.
My riding stats: Today's ride of 47kms gives me a total of 47kms for August, 1,042kms for July and 946kms for June. My 22nd ride at Dicky brings my total at Dicky to 945kms OR if you are really into figures, I have ridden 2,840kms since leaving home back on 3rd May.
PS: I was going to ride 56kms tomorrow, just to go past 1,000kms while at Dicky, but I couldn't be STUFFED, SO I am not riding now until probably Tuesday at Southport.
After I showered, Marg and I walked over to 'Reelax at Dicky' for a coffee and sat there and read the Herald Sun on our iPads. After coffee we walked down to the beach, to where the SS Dicky is buried and 'fossicked' for pretty stones. We found about 4 pieces of the steel wreck about the size of 50 cents pieces and small pieces of the wooden parts upto to 3" long. It has started turning into "petrified wood". We will display these 'prized' pieces in our Rock Room at home.
We spent the rest of the day, buggering about at camp, I created a new webpage featuring
My SS Dicky page.
Marg had a nanna nap and cooked corned beef and did her crosswords and finished reading yet another book. She probably finishes a book about each week, I tend to take a very long time. EG: Since the 3rd May I have read 4.5 books from Lee Child in the Jack Reacher series. I love em.
While Marg was laying on the bed reading, I was sitting at the table updating this website, we felt the earthquake. The fiver started moving, it felt like the guys were outside just shaking it. They weren't. I walked outside, expecting to see everyone outside discussing it. No one was reacting at all. I spoke to the women in the motorhome next to us and they didn't fell a thing. Unreal. I then went onto the Australia earthquake website and there it was. I am NOT going mad.
Marg cooked corned beef with cabbage, mashed potatoe with creamy peppered sauce. It was absolutely YUMMA>.
Tomorrow we will bugger around camp and in the arvo, I will packed up for our Monday departure back to Southport.
Today's weather photo at the Lighthouse at 9:07am.
The surfers were out.
It was a top day.
My other weather photo.
Being the weekend, the people were out in force.
I stopped for this Great Egret.
Pack up day at Dicky - Dicky Day 28.
- Weather: Warm and Sunny - Min 8.9° Max 24.4°
- Wind: 9 - 26kph North West
We both slept well, as I could NOT be stuffed riding today, we laid in bed and watched Weekend Sunrise. After eventually getting up and having brekky, I attached my bike to the front of the fiver. After such strenuous work, I walked over to 'Reelax at Dicky' for a coffee and sat there and read the Herald Sun on my iPad. Coming back, I stopped at Colin and Jan van and we chatted for 15 minutes, before getting back to camp. About lunchtime, I packed up the outside equipment (awnings, walls, etc). I managed to finished just before the start of today's V8 race. Go Lowndesy. He came 2nd. Marg managed to squeese in a nanna nap.
Val and Bob have invited us for dinner, as it is our last night, we jumped at their invite.
Bob cooked the steaks and Val cooked all the vegies and desert. It was YUMMA.
Tomorrow we drive 165kms back to Broadwater Tourist Park, Southport.
