Happy Father's Day to me - Southport - Day 36.
Both our sons rang me this morning to wish me a Happy Father's Day.
I slept very well until 5:45am, then listened to Macca until 6:45am when I got up and had brekky, while Marg slept like a log. We buggered around camp until David and Di left at 9:50am. I didn't think they were going as there was no activity outside their fiver until about 9am.
At 10:00am I went riding as the sun came out, I did my normal route down to Surfers, out to The Spit and upto Lands End, before having a coffee at Cafe Rockpool.
My riding stats: Today's ride of 37kms gives me a total of 250kms for September and my 26th ride at Southport for a total of 969kms OR 3,269kms since leaving home back on 16th March.
After showering, we had lunch and then went to Spotlight, Marg had run out of blue wool, (nothing worse) then over to South Park for some food supplies at Woollies. The rest of the arvo was spent catching up watching some of my taped TV shows.
Dinner was one of my fav, spag bol. It was YUMMA.
Tomorrow, nothing is planned, I hope to ride.

The portable Grandstand is now GONE.
David and Di are leaving us.
We won't see them until next August,
or until the planets align again.
Going....
Going....
GONE... We will miss them.
Marg's laptop has died - Southport - Day 37.
Over the past few days, Marg's laptop was not sounding very well, so I did 2 complete backups of her C & D drives. This morning it refused to boot up.
We both slept very well until 6:45am, Marg laid in bed watching 'Sunrise', I got up and had brekky and tried to start Marg's laptop, but it no go. I rang Dell at 8:00am and 36 minutes later, it still no go and will have to be sent to Dell.
At 8:50am I went riding as the sun came out, I did my normal route upto Lands End, then down to Surfers and out to The Spit. During the ride I had a couple of light drizzle showers so I put on my yellow wet weather jacket. When I got to the end of The Spit there were are 20 Asian tourists taking photos. The weather was cool with big waves crashing at the end. I laid my bike down and sat on a rock and started eating my bananas, when one of the female tourist wanted a photo with my bike, so I let her. She tried to put her leg over the top bar, but was too small. This started a rush of tourists wanting a photo with my bike, so when the next female was having her photo taken, I got up and walked over to her and put my arm around her. I did this for about 5 other females, they were small in stature compared to me at 6'5". As another rain squall approached us, I left them and headed homewards. As I rode over the Nerang River bridge, a rain squall caught me, I got a tad wet, I didn't stop for a coffee at Cafe Rockpool, as I thought sitting in wet gear in the wind may not be real smart, so I headed back to camp with a beautiful tailwind.
My riding stats: Today's ride of 35kms gives me a total of 285kms for September and my 27th ride at Southport for a total of 1,004kms OR 3,304kms since leaving home back on 16th March.
After showering, we had lunch and then went to take Marg's laptop to Lukey, he thought that its the motherboard. He rang Dell and the procedure is: Dell sends you an email with instructions of where to send the laptop. Over the next few days, we should receive an email and then I will post Marg's laptop back to Dell for servicing. A couple of years ago, I took a Dell laptop to a service centre, we were told today that those service centres no longer exist and that you now send the laptop directly to Dell.
During the afternoon, the sun came out and was shining through my bedroom window, so I laid on the bed, just to test it, 90 minutes later, I got up.
Dinner was Inghams Chicken Kiev with vegies. Very yumma.
Tomorrow is BINGO and time for Marg to lift her game and win.

Bingo - Southport - Day 38.
We slept very well until 6:30am, when I got up and went on the internet, while Marg watched 'Sunrise'. We had brekky and got ourselves organised for Bingo and left at 8:30am. Arrived at the Sharks about 5 minutes later, we still were one of the first to arrive. I paid our $46 for 2 FULL sets, Marg went and ordered coffee and cake, then we prepared for bingo. At 9:30am it started, there were a few new faces and some old faces not there today. Marg had been practising yelling out "Bingo" during the week, BUT AGAIN it was useless. In the second game I let looose with a loud "Bingo" I won $10 and thought that this week we will 'kill em'. It didn't happen, to Marg's credit she did call Bingo only to be disheartened as it was a 'false' call and she went on to NOT win a game. By the finish, I had won $10, Marg zilch, nothing.
Our winnings at the Sharks so far this trip is now a LOSS of $29. We now have only 1 more bingo to go. Marg is still letting the team down, BIG TIME.
Back at camp at lunchtime, I went riding while Marg did her thing in my absence. My usual route, just a beautiful ride with a headwind when I rode North.
My riding stats: Today's ride of 36kms gives me a total of 321kms for September and my 28th ride at Southport for a total of 1,040kms OR 3,340kms since leaving home back on 16th March.
For the remainder of the arvo, I sat outside, gazing out over the Broadwater while drinking a Coopers Ultra Light beer, it's not bad.
Dinner was pizza made by McCains, while Marg had cheese on toast. It was yumma.
Tomorrow nothing is planned.

A quiet day - Southport - Day 39.
We slept very well until 6:30am, when I got up and went on the internet, while Marg laid in bed watching 'Sunrise'. We had brekky and then I changed into 'cycleman' and went riding while Marg did her thing in my absence. My usual route down to Surfers, stopped by a 'Stop/Slow' man at the Narrows, (they were welding the metal tops to the stormwater which are located in the track, where the V8 Supercars will race), then headed North to The Spit, spoke to the whale counters and then stopped at Cafe Rockpool for cake and coffee, before going to Lands End and then back to camp.
My riding stats: Today's ride of 41kms gives me a total of 362kms for September and my 29th ride at Southport for a total of 1,081kms OR 3,381kms since leaving home back on 16th March.
After showering, we drove to Helensvale SC for some shopping and a coffee at Michels, back to camp for lunch and then we both managed a nanna nap during the afternoon, before sitting out the front of the fiver gazing out over the Broadwater and emptying a chilled refresher or two. Life is tough.
Dinner was Marg's homemade sausage rolls. They were yumma.
Tomorrow the mighty Navara is booked in at Von Bibra Nissan for its 140,000kms service.

140k service for the mighty Navara - Southport - Day 40.
The mighty Navara is booked in for its 140,000kms service and also 'fix' the Cruise Control prob.
I set the alarm for 6:30am, why is it that you always wake up before the alarm. We both woke about 5:30am and were ready to get up, so we did. We went on the internet and at 6am turned on Kochie on Sunrise, we had brekky and at 7am, I drove the mighty Navara over to Von Bibra Nissan, Southport.
Got there about 7:20am, spoke to Matthew the serviceman, told him that my Cruise Control broke just before Townsville, after their 130k service. I sat in the lounge waiting for Greg (the courtesy bus driver) to drive me back to camp about 8am, when he clocks on. There were 5 of us on Greg's chariot, he remembered me from my last service in March, we continued our conversaation about his retirement plans of buying a van. My phone rang while we were talking, it was Nissan service, they informed me that my air cleaner needed replacing (strange I wonder if driving in the dust of the Qld Outback had anything to do with it) , also the Left hand numberplate light had parted from the bumper ($220 for a new part or $20 for a bit of glue, I wonder which I choose). The main concern was my Cruise Control, it wasn't the part that they replaced last time, he did ask how much did I want to spend having the guys look for the cause, it was $120 per hour labour, so I said let them spend upto ONE hour investigating. We hung up and Greg dropped the first 2 customers at Australia Fair before dropping me off at camp about 8:20am.
The weather was absolutley beautiful, sunny with a very light breeze, so Marg made me go for a ride, who am I to disobey her.
My usual route down to Surfers, then headed North to The Spit, spoke to the whale counters and then stopped at Cafe Rockpool for a coffee (but Zach the young kid said are you having our last bit of CHOCCY MUDCAKE?) I weakened and had it before going to Lands End and then back to camp.
My riding stats: Today's ride of 38kms gives me a total of 400kms for September and my 30th ride at Southport for a total of 1,119kms OR 3,419kms since leaving home back on 16th March.
As I was just entering camp after my ride, I received a text message saying my car was ready and the price was $524, which was quite reasonable. I showered and then went next door to Teds, who had previously offered to drive me back to Von Bibra and did. At Von Bibra, Matthew told me that they had found the cause of my Cruise Control and that he had to order in the part if I wanted them to fix it, it would cost $180 including part and labour. I said that I would get it done in Melbourne when I get home. I paid the bill $524 and drove back to camp, had lunch and then Marg and I drove to South Park for a coffee. About 3:45pm, we drove over to 'our' club for our normal Thursday afternoon's entertainment (Marg plays the pokies, I sit in the lounge with a schooner or two and update this website, then at 5:30pm, we order the $10 pizza and beer specials and then head back to camp.
Dinner was the $10 pizza and schooner of beer, Marg had a soft drink, but we were too full, so gave our free pancakes a miss. It was yumma.
Tomorrow nothing is planned, apart from I hope to ride.

It's my Birthday - Southport - Day 41.
Happy Birthday to me.
I awoke about 5:30am and listened to 92.5 Gold FM until 7:30am when Marg awoke. I wanted to have lunch at Australia Fair, so if I was to ride I better leave now, so I changed into 'cycleman' and left camp at 8:00am.
The weather was again absolutley beautiful, sunny with a very light breeze, so I rode my usual route down to Surfers, then headed North to The Spit, spoke to the
whale counters and took a photo of the
Grass Tuskfish, speared by a skin diver at the end of The Spit. I didn't stop at Cafe Rockpool as it was too crowded, so I continued onto Lands End and then back to camp.
My riding stats: Today's ride of 35kms gives me a total of 435kms for September and my 31st ride at Southport for a total of 1,154kms OR 3,454kms since leaving home back on 16th March.
After I showered, I rang Nissan and ordered my Cruise Control part, it should be here early next week. We left camp about 11:15am and drove over to Cafe Moccachinos at Australia Fair for lunch, I had an omelette and coffee, while Marg had pancakes and an ice coffee. They were yumma.
During the arvo, we both managed a nanna nap and I had a chilled refresher or two.
Sara Lee came and cooked her famous Quiche Lorraine. It was yumma.
Tomorrow we have a family lunch to celebrate my birthday and Father's Day. Marg and I can't wait.

My Family birthday lunch - Southport - Day 42.
I awoke about 6:45am and listened to 92.5 Gold FM until 7:45am when Marg awoke. I wasn't riding today, as I wanted to say 'Goodbye' to Ted and Sue, our neighbour who are making their way 'slowly' home to Phillip Island, Vic. They have been here at the caravan park since February. They departed about 9:30am and we buggered about camp until 10:20am, when we drove over to Lukey's shack. We had to remove the hitch from the back of the mighty Navara, as after lunch, we are picking up all their baby furniture.
We arrived at Lukey's at 10:45am, removed the hitch and then drove to Sizzlers at Loganholme Hyperdome for lunch at 11:30am, to beat the crowd. It didn't work, we still had to queue up but got in and 'pigged out' on the pasta, salad and the ice cream was YUMMA. It was a great day, as our 2 little boys and their families were with us. I forgot to bring my camera, so no photos.
After lunch, we picked up all the baby furniture, it filled all the tray and the back seat of the mighty Navara. We dropped it off at Lukeys and then headed back to camp, where I watched the V8s, while Marg managed a nanna nap.
Dinner was McCain pizza. It was yumma.
Tomorrow is Jodi's baby shower.
