Normality returns to our lives.
We slept very well last night, I managed to sleep in until about 5:30am, before getting up, while Marg got up about 7:30am. I did a bit of house keeping on our website, before loading my bike in the back of the mighty Navara. I am meeting my mate Simon at Labrador at 9am, for a ride out to the Spit and probably stop for
a coffee somewhere along the route and talk crap.
I'm off to catch up with Simon. Arrived at his mum's apartment in Labrador about 8:45am and untied my bike and rode to her apartment, Simon was waiting so we headed off along the shared paths to the Spit. I destroyed Simon along the gravel coastal path heading to the Spit, as Simon hasn't ridden for nearly 12 months,
his riding fitness has all but gone. I took great pleasure in destroying him, but then I am a REAL BASTARD.
We stopped at Simon's favourite coffee shop, just around the corner from his mums. He introduced me to the owner and her mother who run it, they are a very nice couple. After coffee, Simon showed me through his mum's apartment, she moved on in January, the apartments are brand new and her views from her 3rd floor are very good. We said our goodbyes and on the way back to Lukeys, I dropped off Jay's tripod at Jay's shack. Back at Lukey's we did some washing and then headed over to Helensvale SC for some supplies.
After putting our shopping away, we visited the pool in Lukey's gated community, we had the pool to ourselves, it was very refreshing.
Marg cooked steak with salad tonight and it was bloody YUMMA.
Currently, I am trying to ring Dad to organise coffee tomorrow, but the 'silly old bastard' hasn't got his phone on, plan B is I might go riding.
Normality returns to our lives.
It was very warm last night, I left the window open, the curtain banged against the frame all night, the breeze blowing in was great but the noise of the curtain kept waking me up, consequently, I slept shithouse. Of course, Marg didn't hear it and slept like a log. I woke up about 5:30am, put on my headphones and laid in bed listening to Macca. I got up about 6:15am, got dressed into 'Cycleman' and drove towards our Caravan Park, I was detoured away as the Gold Coast Triathlon was on and all the roads were closed. I parked in a back street near Labrador and managed to ride my normal route (Labrador, Surfers, The Spit and return about 35kms).
Back at Lukey's shack, Marg and I drove to Helensvale SC for a coffee then onto Spotlight, where Marg bought a heap of 'stuff', she is making an Easter Bunny. It's a girlie thing.
We spent most of the arvo just buggering about, Marg had a nanna nap, I wish that I had, because it is 8:00pm and I am going to bed. I am buggered.
Dinner was frozen pies with pepper sauce. Very YUMMA.
Tomorrow, I am riding with Dad and meeting him on the shared path in Surfers at 8:30am. I didn't catch up with Dad last night, because he DID have his phone off.
Catch up with Mum and Dad.
It was another warm last night, but I overcame the banging curtain by only opening the window about 3" instead of 3 feet. I had a gentle breeze coming through
the window and slept like a baby until 6:30am, when I put on my headphones and listened to the radio, the problem was that as I set the alarm for 7am, I must
have knocked the hour setting. It was 5:30am. Bugger foiled again.
Maybe tonight, all the planets may align and I get to sleep properly. Marg again slept well.
I had arranged to meet Dad in Surfers at 8:30am, so I changed into 'Cycleman' and drove to our Caravan park and parked in the public carpark. Compared to
yesterday's Gold Coast Triathlon, today there was bugger all people.
I met Dad and we rode to The Spit, but as Cyclone Ita had kicked up the wind and waves, we didn't ride out along the seawall, as the spray was covering the seawall, so we would have been drenched. On our way back to Surfers, we stopped opposite Main Beach, where we sat on a bench seat overlooking the ocean and chatted and watched the waves. It was very relaxing. Back at Surfers we said our goodbyes, Dad headed back to his apartment in Miami and I headed back to the Caravan Park, stopping for a coffee at Cafe Rockpool, there were only 2 customers including me.
Back at Lukey's shack, I told Marg that we were having coffee with Mum and Dad at Oz Fair at 1:30pm. We were 5 minutes late, Mum and Dad were already there. We had coffee and chatted for over an hour. It was great to catch up and discuss the wedding.
Dinner was Marg's famous omelette with salad. Needless to say, it was YUMMA, followed by a bit of TV.
Tomorrow, we are back to normal, by going to Bingo at the Southport Sharks. I hope that we win.
We won at Bingo.. Well almost.
It was another warm last night, I slept like a log until 4:30am, then couldn't get back to sleep. I tossed and turned and dozed, while Marg is sleeping very well.
Today, we are well and truly back to normal. It was Bingo at The Southport Sharks. We left home about 8:10am and arrived at the Sharks at 8:30am, paid our $46, renewed friendships made last year. We got organised and were ready for eyes down at 9:30am. During the 3rd game, I screamed out "BINGO" and pocketed $30, about 2 games later Marg let out a scream and pocketed $12, we were unstoppable, well almost, we didn't win another game, but absolutely loved it. For our outlay of $46 we won $42, total loss of $4. We were very happy with today's Bingo. Next Tuesday's bingo will be a little bit trickier, as we have to take Mont to school and then get to Bingo. We may have to drop Mont at school at 7am, only joking or am I?
After Bingo, we drove back to Lukey's shack for lunch and our shopping list. We needed to buy some recordable CDs to copy some wedding files onto, so we can print them for Mum and Dad. We had to post Anna's pink shoes back to Melbourne, as Anna left them at the wedding reception, we dropped in Lukey and my pants and Marg's dress for dry cleaning. I also had a $10 haircut, under orders from Marg I had to have long ish hair for Lukey's wedding, so today, I was back to a #4 crew cut, it is so easy to control, when you have bugger all hair. We got back to Lukeys and forgot to buy the bloody CDs, so we will have to get them tomorrow. If we remember. The joys of being two old farts.
Marg made nanchos for dinner and they were very YUMMA, followed by some more TV.
Tomorrow, I plan to ride first thing in the morning and we will try to remember to buy some CDs. Mum and Dad are waiting for the prints.
Happy 30th Birthday, Lukey.
Happy Birthday to Lukey, he is 30 today, but arrived in New York about 8:00am our time, so it is still the 15th April in USA.
It was cooler last night, Marg slept well and I slept until 5:30am, then got up, went on the internet and about 6:30am I changed into 'Cycleman' and drove to the Caravan Park. I parked in the public carpark out the front of our CP. I rode to Labrador, then down to Surfers back to The Spit and coffee at Cafe Rockpool,
before riding a lap of the CP, I could only see 3 vacant sites, it is chockers. Our next door neighbour Ted was outside, so I stopped and chatted for a few minutes.
Back at Lukey's I changed and then drove to the local Woollies to buy a pack of CDs, so we could copy the wedding files and get them printed at Kmart for Mum and Dad. After lunch, Marg and I drove to Helensvale's Kmart to get the 19 photos printed. It cost all of $3.61 to have them printed immediately. Unreal. Marg was happy with the photos, I think Mum will like them. These photos are only a sample, so Mum can show her friends.
Mid to late arvo, Marg had a nanna nap, while I watched a few episodes of NCIs.
Dinner was egg and bacon pie followed by TV.
Tomorrow, I am riding with Dad, meeting him at Surfers at 8;30am then dinner will be at
our Club.
Riding and later Dining at our Club.
It was another cool night, Marg slept well and I slept until 5:30am, then got up, went on the internet and about 6:30am I changed into 'Cycleman' and drove
to the Caravan Park. Very similar to yesterday if not identical.
I parked in the public carpark out the front of our CP. I rode to Labrador, took a photo of Georges on the lightpole, then headed towards Surfers to meet up with Dad at 8:30am. Today is Dad's last ride in Surfers for this trip, Mum and Dad leave the Gold Coast on Tuesday and drive back to Melbourne. We met at 8:30am
and headed towards The Spit, the people traffic was light compared to the weekend. We rode out to the end of The Spit and sat on a rock and checked out the vistas. It was beautiful. After leaving The Spit, we rode along Seaworld Drive waving to the Police in their van (they returned our wave), until we reached the Southport LSC, where we found a benchseat overlooking the ocean and we again sat and watched the ocean. We finally rode back to Surfers, where we said our goodbyes. Dad headed back to Miaami, while I rode back to Cafe rockpool and stopped for a coffee and choccy mud cake. I was devastated that they had run out of choccy mud cake. Hopefully, they will have some tomorrow, but then again, they may not even be open, as it is Good Friday. I will have to wait and see. I rode back to the puiblic carpark out the front of our Caravan Park, loaded my bike into the tray and drove back to Lukey's shack.

I spent most of the arvo, watching Blue Bloods episodes, while Marg managaed a nanna nap. About 4pm, we drove to
Our Club aka CSi Southport. Until 5:30pm, Marg is on the pokies, while I sit in the 'lounge' updating this website. I manage to get some weird looks.
As we are creatures of habit, I will be having the mixed grill and Marg will have the garlic prawns, that will be our 8th identical meal in our last 8 visits.
Back at Lukeys after dinner. I told Leonie the 'checkout chick' that this was our 8th identical meal, she gave me a VIP Card, our 5th meal will be half price,
and the 10th meal is free. BTW, our meals were bloody YUMMA.
Tomorrow, the only thing planned is my bike ride in the morning.
Looking towards Labrador, Southport and Surfers.
A flock of Georges.
Taken just south of our Caravan Park.
Encore the yacht has been there before 20th March.
Some of today's beautiful views.
Surfers - Looking North.
The real old fart, Dad.
Surfers viewed from the end of The Spit.
Looking to the shore from the end of The Spit.
Dad at Southport LSC. He wanted to be in the photo. So he is.
My view while having coffee at Cafe Rockpool.
Even Ian Ibis walked in, to say "Hi".
Riding and relaxing.
It was another cool night, Marg slept well and I slept until 5:30am, then got up, went on the internet and about 6:30am I changed into 'Cycleman' and drove
to the Caravan Park. Very similar to yesterday if not identical.
Today, I am back riding by myself. Life has returned to normal.
I drove to the public carpark at our Caravan Park, but it was FULL, so I drove over to Labrador and found a car spot, being guard by 3 Georges sitting on the lightpole. I unloaded my bike and headed off to Angler's Paradise which is my turnaround point and then back along the shared path to Surfers, being Good Friday, the shared path was chockers with people. I stopped at Laycock Ave and The Esplanade, which is my other turnaround point, before heading to The Spit. At the Spit, I caught up with a guy (Ron) that I had met a couple of years ago, he lives on the GC and rides regularly to the Spit. On my return, I met Ted and Sue our neighbours from our CP, on the shared path, outside the Southport YC and we chatted for a few minutes, before they continued on their ride to The Spit, while I headed for a coffee at Cafe Rockpool. At Cafe Rockpool, there were about 20 cyclists there from the
Red Dog Triathlon Training Club having brekky. Me, being a shy and retiring person, I asked, if I could take a photo of them, but they insisted that I join in, so the waiter took the photo. I continued on my way back to the mighty Navara, being guarded by my 3 'attack Georges'. I did a lap of our CP, it is FULL, I couldn't see any vacant sites. School holidays are like that.
The afternoon was spent back at Lukeys, watching TV, while Marg managed a nanna nap.
Dinner was leftover egg and bacon pie with salad. Very Yumma.
Tomorrow will be a busy day. Take Marg to GC Airport, she is going to Sydney for the night. Pick up Mum and Dad aznd meet up Jay and Bec, who will show us their
block of 'forest'.
The view from Surfers this morning about 8:15am.
Beautiful weather.
Shock, horror, a prang on the Nerang River bridge, there is at least one prang every weekend.
The Red Dog Triathlon group, with a ring in at the back.
The 'Alpha' George on guard duty.
The gang of three on duty. Well one anyway.
They are very good guards, as no one stole the mighty Navara.
Busy morning, relaxing afternoon.
It was another cool night, Marg slept well and I slept until 6:00am, then got up, and got ourselves organised and left for the Gold Coast Airport at 7:00am for
Marg's 9am flight to Sydney, she has a family christening to attend, but I kindly declined the offer.
The traffic flowed the whole way along the Freeway, arriving at 7:40am, so Marg was dropped off and I drove over to Tweed Heads to check it out. The surfers were
out in force, there was a nice 2 meter break with an offshore breeze holding up the face.
I continued over to Mum and Dad's apartment in Miami and they were still in bed. We planned to meet with Jay at 10am at a coffee shop in Pacific Pines, then he
was going to direct us to his block of land, that he recently purchased. The block is about 4kms from Luke's shack, it is still covered in trees, as the subdivision has not been cleared yet, but it should be cleared in the next few months. We were all very impressed, I dropped Jay back at his car before driving Mum and Dad back to their apartment, where I said goodbye and drove back to Lukey's shack, stopping at Woollies and bought some nibbles.
While Marg is away, I will 'pig out'.
I spent the arvo back at Lukeys, just buggering about.
Picking up Marg and Mont.
I had the place to myself and it was heaven. I slept like a log, I didn't set the alarm, I wasn't going for a ride, so I had the whole morning to clean the place,
do the washing before leaving to pick up Marg from the Airport at 1pm and meet Nanny to pick up Mont, our granddaughter, who we are now babysitting for the next 3 weeks.
I left Lukeys at 12pm, and headed along the freeway to Cooly, the traffic flowed well, even through the work roads. I found a spot to stop and wait for Marg's phone call to say she was standing out the front of the airport, she rang about 1:10pm, I picked her up very easily.
We now had to drive to Maccas at Tweed Heads South to met up with Mont's other grandma, she was a few minutes late, due to the traffic at Byron Bay Bluesfest, as Mont's other grandma lives at Lismore, NSW. We have maccas for lunch and then unpacked and repacked all Mont's stuff into the mighty Navara, and headed back to Lukeys.
We spent the remainder of the arvo just relaxing, while Mont was outside playing with her friends, Marg and I unpacked all her stuff.
Dinner was frankfurts which were yumma.
Tomorrow, we are off to Spotlight, Marg is crochetting a Flamingo, she has already finished an Easter Bunny and an Elephant.
Babysitting Mont - Day 1.
Mont was an angel last night, she slept until 8am this morning when Marg woke her. Marg and I also slept well. It's been 23 years since we have
looked after a 7 year old and it takes an effort.
This morning we drove to Spotlight, where we bought wool, so Marg can crochett a Flamingo (Freda) and other bits and pieces, then headed to Woollies for some food shopping. Back at Lukeys, while Mont played with her friends inside and outside, Marg and I took it in turns to be on hand if necessary. We both managed, separately, to grab a quick nanna nap and boy, did we need it, but we got through the first day, only 20 more days to go.
Dinner was Marg's scrambled eggs, followed by Marg and Mont making 'loom bandz', like rubberband bracelets. But Marg appears to have 'stuff up' their first attempt.
Tomorrow, Mont is back at school and Marg and I are hoping to get to Bingo.
Took Mont to school before Bingo - Day 2.
The three of us slept well. I awoke about 5:30am and listened to my radio using my earphones, before getting up with Marg about 6:30am. Marg woke Mont at 7:00am and had brekky and then got dressed without any hassles. We were all ready for school and bingo when we left at 8:20am, 2 minutes later we had dropped Mont at school and Marg and I were on our way to the Southport Sharks, arriving about 8:50am for eyes down at 9:30am. We bought our normal 2 full sets for $46 then Marg decided that she wanted another set of jackpots for $10. We didn't have as much luck as last week, with me the only winner and then I had to share it, so I only received $7.50.
Our Bingo summary for today: outlaid $56 won $7.50 Total Loss: $48.50 plus last week's $4.00 loss. After 2 weeks, we are $52.50 down LOSS. There is always next week.
After bingo, we went to Woollies at Pac Pines for some food shopping, then eventually, got home about 1:15pm, only to leave to pick up Mont at 2:15pm. We have to
get there early to get a parking spot. So we did. We introduced ourselves to Mont's teacher, (nice lady), found where the bike pen is, as tomorrow Mont is riding to school with grandpa. That should be interesting, as least we don't need to drive.
After school, back at Lukeys, Mont went swimming in the gated apartments' pool, while we supervised her.
Marg made nanchos for dinner and they were very YUMMA, followed by some more TV.
Tomorrow, I plan to ride to school with Mont and then maybe go for a ride along the Broadwater shared paths.
Mont and I rode to and from school - Day 3.
The three of us slept well. I awoke a bit later at 6:00am and listened to my radio using my earphones, before getting up with Marg about 6:30am. Marg woke Mont
at 7:00am and had brekky and then got dressed without any hassles. Mont and I got on our bikes about 8:10am and rode the 1.5kms to school via the shared paths and footpaths. Mont handled the various hills well and it sure beats driving there and trying to find a legal spot to park, there are cars everywhere. So while
Mont wants to ride, we will. As we arrived at school, Marg rang me to say that I had forgot to bring Mont's hat and the school policy is "no hat, no outside
play", so I rode back home, picked the hat up and rode back to school, giving Mont her hat just as the bell rang. All good.
I left Marg for 3 hours to do whatever she wanted too, while I drove to the public carpark at our Caravan Park, and parked without any hassles, as the CP is now
about half full, as Vic and Qld kids are back at school and only NSW are on hols. I unloaded my bike and headed off to Angler's Paradise which is my turnaround
point and then back along the shared path to Surfers, the shared path was not chockers with people. I stopped at Laycock Ave and The Esplanade, which is my other
turnaround point, before heading to The Spit. At The Narrows, about halfway between Surfers and Southport, I stopped and took a few scenery photos, it was absolutely wonderful. A light Northerly and a very smooth blue ocean. Bloody magic.
At the Spit, I watched the Police divers search for more human bones that were found recently. An Update from tonight's news: They found 2 more bones today.
On my return, I again met Ted and Sue our neighbours from our CP, on the shared path, we chatted for a few minutes, before they continued on their ride to The Spit, while I headed for a coffee at Cafe Rockpool. At Cafe Rockpool, when the staff saw me, they started to make my coffee before I ordered it, good to see that I am not a creature of habit.
After coffee, I continued on my way back to the mighty Navara, doing a lap of our CP, it is about half full. Back at Lukeys, I changed and Marg and I drove to
Helensvale for lunch. I left home about 2:40pm, and rode to Mont's school to pick her up and we rode back together. It was great fun. I think Mont wants to ride
tomorrow, but I will wait until tomorrow morning before confirming that we are riding tomorrow. Mont being a 7yo, just may change her mind.
Just an aside, there has been a complaint from Ian and his mates, they reckon that George and his mates were getting too much attention on this website, so today at their weekly meeting, I was invited to take a photo. Which I did.
Dinner was Dino chicken and salad. It was yumma. Looking after a 7yo sure takes a lot of effort, but we are loving it.
Tomorrow, Mont and I 'may be' riding to and from school but I will be riding my normal route. (Labrador, Surfers, The Spit, Labrador)
Georges waiting for me on their usual lightpole.

Mont and I rode to and from school - Day 4.
Mont and Marg slept very well. I slept shithouse, awoke at 1:30am and was still tossing and turning after 4am. Not a good night. Marg and I got up about 6:30am.
Our normal routine, Marg wakes Mont at 7:00am and had brekky and then got dressed without any hassles. Mont and I got on our bikes about 8:10am and rode the 1.5kms to school via the shared paths and footpaths. Mont is enjoying her rides to school. At least today, I didn't forget anything, so only had to ride ONCE to school, unlike yesterday.
I left Marg for 3 hours to do whatever she wanted too, she watched last night's My Kitchen Rules. I drove to the public carpark at our Caravan Park, and parked
without any hassles, I unloaded my bike and headed off to Angler's Paradise which is my turnaround point and then back along the shared path to Surfers, the shared path was not chockers with people. I stopped at many stops to take photos, so today is a pictorial of my ride.
A very pleasant sunny 23 to 27 degrees with a building Northerly. A total of 36kms.
After lunch, Marg and I drove to Spotlight to buy more 'girlie stuff', while I walked into Anacondas to buy a bell for my bike. I left home about 2:40pm, and
rode to Mont's school to pick her up and we rode back together. It was great fun.
Dinner was fish and chips from Pac Pines Fish'n'Chips shop. They were yumma.
Tomorrow it's ANZAC Day.

Marg and I met 39 years ago - Mont Day 5.
Today is our 39th anniversary of Marg and I meeting. Thanks to Robbie Long and Robbie Murf who arranged the meeting. It changed my life for the better.
If we see 17th August, it will be our 37th Wedding anniversary.
As today is a holiday, well no school for Mont, as everyday is a holiday for Marg and I, we all slept very well, I was first up at 7:30am. Marg and Mont got up
about 8am, because I was talking to Lukey in Vegas on Skype Video and they came downstairs to talk to them. Lukey and Jodi have decided to stay in Vegas for an
extra 3 nights and deduct them from their LA stay, they are loving Vegas.
We didn't do much today, I buggered about on this website, Marg is crochetting a Flamingo and also making a onesie for Peggy the Easter Bunny, while Mont played
with her friends and I think, every child in this complex played here sometime during today.
Dinner was Dino chicken and vegies. It was Yumma. I have never had Dino chicken before, guess what, it looks like ordinary chicken cut in the shape of Dino. Strange that.
Tomorrow, Mont has Gym followed by a donut at DonutKing. Busy Day.
Mont's Gym - Mont Day 6.
We all slept very well, I was first up at 7:00am. Marg and Mont got up about 7:45am, because Mont has gym at Coomera this morning. Gym started at 9:15am and goes
for an hour. I knew where it is but I wasn't sure how long it would take, so we left at 8:40am and got there early. Mont did her gym which is very energetic.
After gym, the routine is go to DonutKing at Helensvale, for a donut, who are we to stop this routine. I had a coke and hotdog, while Marg and Mont had 2 fancy
donuts and a slurpy each. Back at home for lunch, Mont spent all afternoon playing with the other children in the complex, until we called her in for dinner.
Marg managed to have a nanna nap while I caught up with some episodes of Suits.
Dinner was sausages with salad. It was Yumma. Followed by watching Madagascar. King Julian XIII is a pearler.
Tomorrow, Marg and Mont are going to see The Lego movie, while I will go for a ride.
