- Wind: 15 - 30kph South Easterly.
It started off cool and by 4am, I had to get up and find my sleepingbag, 2 blankets were not enough, even Marg had her 2 blankets on by morning. We were in no hurry to do anything, so by 10:30am, we had managed to have brekky and get dressed and then we headed off to Kawana Shopping Centre. At the shopping centre, they are doing renovations,so the parking has been impacted, but we found a park. We visted Michels for coffee, I was a little disappointed that Rachel wasn't there, Rachel is a girl who has worked there for the past 3 years, but I will check each time we visit there.
Back at camp, we had lunch and then Marg wandered over to the Dicky Beach SLSC to renew her membership and check out the pokies, the verdict is Marg is happy with the pokies, so I am happy. While Marg was at 'our club', I went riding to Point Cartwright Lighthouse and return, a pleasant 34kms. I left the Dicky Beach Family Holiday park and headed along the shared path, past the Dicky Beach SLSC, then headed along the path past the Currimundi Primary School, upto the Currimundi Lake along both sides of the lake, then along the shared path and along a few side streets that run parallel to the beach, mainly Oceanic Drive then back on the path to Point Cartwright Lighthouse and then down the grass slope onto the path and followed that to the end, at the mouth of the Mooloolaba river, then retraced my route back to camp.
Dinner was 'Gordon Blue' with vegies, it was very YUMMA, more YUMMA than Veal Cordon Bleu.
Tomorrow, we getting into the Dicky Beach routine which is me, riding to the Point Cartwright Lighthouse, while Marg does her thing at camp.
My route from camp to Point Cartwright Lighthouse - 34kms.
- Weather: Overcast with some sunny patches - temperature ranged from Min of 14.7° at 6:00am to Max of 21.5° at 12:00pm.
- Wind: 17 - 31kph Southerly.
It was a coolish night, I used my sleepingbag, Marg had 2 blankets and we slept very well.
While here, we are in no rush to do anything, so while Marg laid in bed and watched Sunrise, I decided to go riding, so I did. It was cool, so I wore my long sleeve jersey and headed off to Point Cartwright Lighthouse. It was a beautiful ride (see photos), I arrived back at camp at 9:45am. After showering, Marg and I walked over to the Dicky Beach shopping strip for a coffee then walked along the beach, where to our surprise, we saw a dolphin swimming about 20 meters offshore.
Back at camp for lunch, I buggered about, while Marg had to go and test the pokies (she broke even).
Dinner was bacon and egg sangas, they were YUMMA. A quiet night watching telly.
Tomorrow will probably be very similar to today.

While here, we are in no rush to do anything, so while Marg laid in bed and watched Sunrise, I decided to go riding, so I did. It was cool, so I wore my long sleeve jersey and headed off to Point Cartwright Lighthouse. Sounds very similar to yesterday and it was. 34kms later and I was back at camp. We got ourselves organised and headed to Bunnings for a gas bottle swap n go for $19.80, Marg wanted to buy some stuff for her skin polishing and then we visited Wooliies in Caloundra for some food shopping.
Back at camp for lunch, meanwhile, the weather has turned nasty, blowing like shit and cool, I am currently wearing trakky daks and top plus uggies and am warm as toast. I walked to the Dicky Beach SLSC and renewed my membership, one year for $5, I can afford that. Marg has spent a few hours in the annex doing her skin polishing, she is progressing well, the stone is looking good.
Dinner will be nachos and a quiet night watching telly.
Tomorrow we have Bingo at 9:30am at our club and the rest of the day will be whatever.
No photos today.
- Weather: Drizzly all day - temperature ranged from Min of 13.2° at 4:00am to Max of 16.0° at 2:30pm.
- Wind: 13 - 31kph Southerly.
It was a coolish night, I used my sleepingbag, Marg had 2 blankets and we slept very well.
Today is Bingo day at our club, we are in no rush to do anything, so we laid in bed and watched Sunrise, we finally got up about 8am and had brekky and got ourselves organised. I found our brollies as it hasn't stopped drizzling since we awoke. NO RIDING TODAY.
We left camp at 9am and walked next door to our 'club', bought our bingo cards $52.80 for 2 full sets, found a table to sit at and waited for the 9:30am start. We played all games and didn't win a game, close but no cigar. Well next week, we will be back to win. It was all over by 12pm, we walked home, thankfully it had stopped drizzling, but started once we were home.
After lunch, we drove to Clark Rubber to buy some foam and then to Kawana SC for coffee at Michels. I did ask the manager if Rachel was still working there, she has finished her uni course and is now working full time but not at Michels. We spent the rest of the arvo in the fiver, I watched 3 episodes of Criminal Intent, while Marg managed to have a nanna nap.
Dinner is one pan, followed by a quiet night watching telly.
The weather forecast is pretty shabby, showers until the weekend.
Tomorrow nothing is planned due to the weather, we will wait and see.
No photos today.
- Weather: Rain with some sunny patches - temperature ranged from Min of 13.8° at 3:30am to Max of 20.8° at 12:30pm.
- Wind: 20 - 35kph Southerly.
Another coolish night, I used my sleepingbag, Marg had 2 blankets and we slept very well.
Today is haircut day for me and clothes shopping for Marg.
I awoke to heavy rain about 6:30am before getting up at 7:30am, looked outside and there were large patches of blue sky, so off I rode, upto Point Cartwright Lighthouse and return. As it was wet and cool, I wore my wet weather top, but luckily it didn't rain during my ride.
After my ride, we drove to Kawana SC, the carpark was nearly full, but we managed to find a spot. I went to the barber, while Marg filled in her time by visiting the clothes shops, we met at Michels for coffee then headed back to camp.
During the arvo, we worked on Marg's skin polishing equipment box, setting it up for her. Marg went to the pokies, while I watched more episodes of Criminal Intent.
We had fish and chips from the shopping strip and followed by a quiet night watching telly.
Tomorrow nothing is planned due to the weather, similar to today.
No photos today.
- Weather: Rain with some sunny patches - temperature ranged from Min of 13.9° at 5:00am to Max of 19.8° at 3:00pm.
- Wind: 15 - 33kph Southerly.
Another coolish night, I used my sleepingbag, Marg had 2 blankets and we slept very well.
Today is ride, walk over to our shopping strip, walk along the beach in between showers.
Same as yesterday, I awoke to heavy rain about 6:30am before getting up at 7:10am, looked outside and there were large patches of blue sky, so off I rode to Point Cartwright Lighthouse and return. As it was wet and cool, I wore my wet weather top, but luckily it didn't rain during my ride. On the way home, I saw some black clouds approaching so I rode quicker and just beat them, before it bucketed down for a few minutes.
After my ride and once we were organised, we walked over to the butchers for some beef schnitzels, then down 2 shops to the bakery for a coffee and choc balls. Put the meat in the fridge and then walked along the beach in between showers to what looked like a surf contest about 500 meters up the beach, SO we walked to the group and I spoke to the lifeguard and he told us, that it was a surfing competition between the Sunshine Coast primary schools, all competitors must be younger than 12. We sat on the beach and watched the kids surf, some were very talented. I was upset as I didn't take my camera with us. The heavy rain clouds were approaching us, so we walked back to camp just beating yet another shower.
Had lunch and then we drove off to get fuel and some food shopping.
Spent the rest of the arvo at camp, I watched more episodes of Criminal Intent, until I fell asleep, so I went and had a nanna nap, while Marg spent most of the time skin polishing her sapphire, it is looking very nice.
Dinner as beef schnitzels with vegies. It was YUMMA.
Tomorrow, come rain, hail or shine, we are driving the 60kms to the Caboolture Gem Fair.
No photos today. The weather has been crap, so I haven't taken my camera with us.
- Weather: Overcast, no rain with some sunny patches - temperature ranged from Min of 12.7° at 6:30am to Max of 19.8° at 3:00pm.
- Wind: 13 - 30kph Southerly.
Another coolish night, I used my sleepingbag, Marg had 2 blankets and we slept very well.
Today is drive to Caboolture Gem Fair and maybe ride.
Same as yesterday, I awoke to heavy rain about 6:30am before getting up at 7:15am, we had brekky and were off to the Caboolture Gem Fest at 8:30am. We arrived at 9:05am and were one of the first to enter the Caboolture Historical Village which hosted the Gem Fest. We walked around all the stalls and bought some blue agate, while Marg bought some large garnets, so she can practice her skin polishing on them. It took us over 2.5 hours to see everything, then we headed off back to camp along the Steve Irwin Way past his zoo.
Back at camp, the weather was still dry, so I went riding to Point Cartwright Lighthouse, while Marg continued her skin polishing on a sapphire, it is looking good. Skin Polishing usually takes many hours to complete a stone. While I was riding I noticed a navy ship heading North, upon further investigation it turns out to be the
USS Bonhomme Richard, which had been in Brisbane for a bit of R&R.
Dinner was frozen pizza that I microwaved, naturally, it as YUMMA. A quiet night watching telly.
Tomorrow, weather dependent, Luke will ride his motorbike here to visit us.

Another coolish night, I used my sleepingbag, Marg had 2 blankets and we slept soundly.
Today if the weather was dry, Luke as riding his motorbike to see us.
Similar to yesterday, I was woken by heavy rain at 1am, it bucketed down for a few minutes, then we went back to sleep, I eventually awoke at 7:15am and listened to Macca on the ABC radio. Luke rang about 8am to check on the weather here, I told him that it was dry and sunny with clouds on the horizon, so he decided to ride from his home on the Gold Coast and should get here about 10;30am, so I went for a ride to Point Cartwright Lighthouse. I got back to camp at 10am and had a shower, Luke arrived just after I got back from showering. We walked over to the shopping strip and visited the bakery we had coffee and cake and sat in the sun and chatted, before walking back to camp and continued sitting the sun and chatting. Luke left us just on 1pm and rode home, Luke expected to get home by 3pm. We followed Luke on Marg's ipad using the "Find me friends' app, which tracked Luke's movements the whole way home. It is a brilliant app, pity it doesn't work on a laptop only on Apple. Luke arrived home, all safe and sound about 3pm. It was great seeing him and we will see both our boys when we stay at Broadwater Tourist Park, Southport.
Later in the day, we visited Bob and Val, who we met here 2 years ago, they are staying at Dicky Beach for 4 weeks, so we will be seeing them often, whether
they want too or not.
Dinner was rissoles and vegies followed by a quiet night watching telly.
Tomorrow apart from a ride, weather dependent, nothing is planned.
- Weather: Overcast with rain - temperature ranged from Min of 14.1° at 3:30am to Max of 18.4° at 2:00pm.
- Wind: 7 - 24kph Southerly.
It was sort of mild, I got away with just one blanket all night, so did Marg, we slept soundly.
Today if the weather was dry, I may ride and some food shopping.
Similar to yesterday, we were woken by heavy rain a couple of times during the night. I slept through until 7:11am and Marg finally awoke after 8am.
By 10:30am we had got our act together and drove to Kawana SC to do some food and beer shopping, I was running low. While at Kawana, we had coffee
at Michels, visited Big W and finally went to Woollies.
Back at camp for a late lunch, Marg then visited the pokies and this time broke even, which is an improvement, while I managed to find a 2 hour section
of no rain and went riding. There were only a handful of people out and about.
Dinner was curried sausages on rice, very YUMMA, followed by a quiet night watching telly.
Tomorrow apart from a ride, weather dependent, nothing is planned.
No photos.
- Weather: Overcast with rain - temperature ranged from Min of 14.3° at 4:30am to Max of 20.8° at 11:30am.

Today if the weather was dry, I may ride and some food shopping.
Similar to yesterday, we were woken by heavy rain a couple of times during the night. I slept through until 7:30am and Marg finally awoke after 8am. By 10:00am we had got our act together and drove to
Sunshine Plaza in Maroochydore to suss out this large Shopping Centre. We walked around checking out many clothes shop, I was trying to not looked bored, but didn't succeed then we found the food court where we had a spud and then a coffee at Michels. We got home just on lunchtime. Imanaged to find a 2 hour section of dry weather, so I went riding. A minor mishap, I skidded on the wet wooden broadwalk and went down. Not badly hurt, so I rode a further 32kms to my turnaround point at Point Cartwright Lighthouse, so obviously nothing is broken, but I will probably be bruised.
Val and Bob came over about 5pm and we decided to join them for dinner at our club at 6:30pm. So at 6:30pm we walked past their camp (2 sites away) and picked
them up and we all walked next door to our club. The club was jumping, we managed to get a table for four and Val and I stood in the queue to order dinner, I
reckon it took us over 20 minutes in the queue before we got to order, I think the order lady was finding out everyone's life story. Eventually, our dinner
arrived, Bob had Bangers and Mash, Val had Lasagna, Marg had crumbed prawns and I had the Dicky Beach parma, which filled me that much, that I couldn't eat any
of Margs. I needed a couple of chilled refreshers to compliment my meal. We left the club about 8:15pm after an enjoyable dinner, even if it did take awhile to order.
We finished with a quiet night watching telly.
Tomorrow it is Bingo.
No photos.
- Weather: Overcast with rain and sunny patches - temperature ranged from Min of 12.7° at 5:30am to Max of 21.6° at 11:00am.

Guess who has a bloody big bruise on his hip.
My Bruise. It's a ripper.
Back to normal updating: Another mild night, I got away with just one blanket all night, so did Marg, we slept soundly.
Today is BINGO day.
We awoke about 7:15am and laid in bed watching 'taped' Sunrise, we had brekky and got ourselves organised and left at 8:50am, stopping at Val and Bob to check if they were still joining, just Val. We walked to our club and arrived just before 9am, found a table for the three of us (Val, Marg and me). We bought our bingo tickets and Val was first of our group to win, she won $10, Marg followed with 3 ins ($35) and I didn't win at all.
Bingo started at 9:30am and finished just on 12pm, it was a pleasant morning's entertainment. We walked back to camp saying goodbye to Val and we made our lunch.
After lunch, we drove to Spotlight to buy some large balloons, Marg is making a 'toy' which is a balloon stuffed with play doh, then we went to Michels at Kawana for a coffee and then spent the afternoon back at camp. Typical it was a beautiful sunny afternoon and I wasn't riding due to my bruise, it feels a tad sore, hopefully, I will ride tomorrow. SO I watched another couple of Criminal Intent while Marg had a nanna nap.
Dinner is egg and bacon pie, which is YUMMA, with a quiet night watching telly.
Tomorrow there are currently no plans, I will see how my leg feels.
No photos.
- Weather: Overcast with sunny patches - temperature ranged from Min of 11.8° at 12:30am to Max of 22.2° at 1:00pm.
- Wind: 11 - 30kph North Easterly.
Another mild night, early morning, I pulled on my 2nd blanket, we both slept well.
I awoke about 7:30am and got up and surfed the internet, while watching 'taped' Sunrise, we had brekky and got ourselves organised and about 10am, we walked over to the shopping strip for a coffee and chocy ball, then while it was sunny, we walked along the beach northwards about a kilometer, collecting 'pretty rocks'
and a shell. We are weird people.
Back at camp for lunch and then about 1pm, I thought it was time to go riding and test out my bruised hip. I rode my normal route upto Point Cartwright Lighthouse and back. On the way home, I rode into the local carwash and gave my trusted treadley a very good clean, I got rid of all the crap off the chain etc.
My bruised leg gave me no drama at all, it is only sensitive when I touch it or lay on it.
Marg spent most of the arvo, skin polishing a large garnet stone, while I watched another episode of Criminal Intent.
Dinner was the leftover of last night's egg and bacon pie, which is YUMMA, followed by a quiet night watching telly.
Tomorrow will probably be very similar to today's activities.
No photos.

Another mild night, early morning, I pulled on my 2nd blanket, we both slept well.
I awoke about 7:00am and got up and surfed the internet, while watching 'taped' Sunrise, we had brekky and got ourselves organised and about 10am. Marg walked next door to ask Val and Bob to join us for coffee at the shopping strip. BUT as Marg was next door, Peter and Jan just happen too walk by, I nearly died. Peter just happens to be the guy who made the white vinyl for Marg's room. They were staying at Caloundra CP and were checking out Dicky Beach, I rushed outside and we chatted for a good 10 minutes before they continued checking out our Caravan Park. After they left, the four of us (Val, Bob, Marg and me) had coffee across the road and watched the world go bye, it also was the only part of today that had beautiful sunshine.
For most of the day, it was overcast and Bloody wet, consequently, I didn't ride today.
Marg past a couple of hours by playing the pokies at our club, while I updated our website and watched the rain fall.
Dinner was fish and chips from the 3rd fish and chip shop in our shopping strip. They were YUMMA, followed by a quiet night watching telly.
Tomorrow will probably be very similar to today's activities.

Another mild night, early morning, I pulled on my 2nd blanket, we both slept well.
I awoke about 7:30am and got up and surfed the internet, while watching 'taped' Weekend Sunrise, we had brekky and got ourselves organised. Marg said as it was sunny and looked to be dry for awhile, why don't I go riding, SO I did. Even though it was Saturday, the people traffic was very light. Back at camp for lunch, then we walked over to the shops and had a coffee, then walked along the beach, picking up 'pretty rocks'. The rest of the day was spent inside as some real nasty thunder clouds arrived and dumped rain everywhere.
Marg past a couple of hours by playing her crosswords, while I updated our website and watched the rain fall.
Dinner was mini pizzas. They were YUMMA, followed by a quiet night watching telly.
Tomorrow will probably be very similar to today's activities.
Here come the rain clouds.

Another mild night, early morning, I pulled on my 2nd blanket, we both slept well.
I awoke about 7:30am and got up and surfed the internet, while watching 'taped' Weekend Sunrise, we had brekky and got ourselves organised. Marg told me to go riding, SO I did. Being Sunday and sunny, there were people everywhere on the various shared paths. I rode to Point Cartwright Lighthouse.
Back at camp for lunch, then we drove to Kawana Shopping Centre, to do some food shopping and had a coffee. When we arrived back at camp,
David and Di, who own the identical fiver to us, had arrived at our park, SO I walked up and annoyed them as they were setting up. They are here for 10 days and then head to Broadwater Tourist park, where we will meet up with them again.
Later in the afternoon, Marg and I had happy hour with Val and Bob in their van, it was a pleasant time.
Dinner was frozen pizza slices. They were YUMMA, followed by a quiet night watching telly.
Tomorrow will probably be very similar to today's activities.

Another mild night, early morning, I pulled on my 2nd blanket, we both slept well.
I awoke about 7:00am and got up and surfed the internet, while watching 'taped' Sunrise, we had brekky and got ourselves organised. It was dry outside and looked to stay that way, so I went riding. Being Monday, there were hardly any people about, which was lovely. I rode to Point Cartwright Lighthouse and then decided to see if I could find my mate Whitey who lives in Mooloolaba, so I rode around the canal streets, to no avail.
Back at camp for lunch, then we walked along the beach, it was low tide and overcast, we found some more stones. About mid afternoon, we walked over to Reelax at Dicky and had coffee then wandered back to camp for the remainder of the arvo, lucky, we did that because the clouds came over and it has rained intermittently ever since.
Dinner was spag bol. It was YUMMA, followed by a quiet night watching telly.
Tomorrow will probably be very similar to today's activities.

- Weather: Overcast then sunny - temperature ranged from Min of 12.4° at 7:00am to Max of 19.5° at 3:00pm.
- Wind: 15 - 33kph South Westerly.
It rained all night totalling 10mm, it was a coolish night, I pulled on my 2nd blanket sometime early morning, we both slept well.
I awoke about 7:15am and got up and surfed the internet, while watching 'taped' Sunrise, we had brekky and got ourselves organised. About 10:30am, we decided to walk over to Reelax to Dicky for a coffee, on the way, we stopped in at David and Di and asked them if they wanted to join us, they did. SO the four of us had coffee and a chat. After coffee, Marg and I walked along the beach to Moffat Beach, shock, horror, we did find some 'pretty rocks'. We had lunch back at camp, then Marg went to our club to play the pokies, while I rode to the Lighthouse. It was beautiful and sunny but cool, the wind chill was low due to the South Westerlies.
Dinner was Gordon Blue and vegies. It will be YUMMA, followed by a quiet night watching telly.
Tomorrow is Bingo, I haven't won a game yet, Marg has but I haven't.

- Weather: Sunny all day but cool with a strong breeze - temperature ranged from Min of 6.9° at 11:30pm to Max of 19.3° at 1:00pm.
- Wind: 9 - 43kph Southerly.
Today is Bingo day. I am long overdue for a win, any win.
It was forecast to be cold overnight, so I unpacked my sleepingbag and used it as a blanket, consequently, I was warm as, again when I awoke this morning there was a female sharing MY sleepingbag. We awoke about 7:15am and laid in bed watching 'taped' Sunrise, we had brekky and got ourselves organised and left at 8:50am. We walked to our club and arrived just before 9am, found a table for the three of us (Val, Marg and me). We bought our bingo tickets and Marg had two small wins ($5 each) and then Val had one ($30). I was so bloody close on a number of occassions with just one number to go, when some other old fart beat me. So bloody close, yet so far. Bingo starts at 9:30am and finishs just on 12pm, it was a pleasant morning's entertainment. We walked back to camp saying goodbye to Val and we made our lunch.
After lunch, I went riding to the Lighthouse, while Marg did some skin polishing on a large garnet. It's looking good. After my ride and after I showered, Marg and I walked over the road and had a coffee and watched the world go bye. On the way home, we came across Franky a beautiful 12 month old golden labrador, naturally, I stopped and asked Franky's owner if I could cuddle him, which she allowed. Franky was a 'failed' guide dog, but he was absolutely beautiful, very similar to our beloved Lazza, just a bit smaller.
I also called into the Office and booked our site for next year, same site, same dates(6th July - 3rd August 2014).
Back at camp, Marg is sitting outside, reading, while I am updating our website.
Dinner is one Pan dinner, these are YUMMA, with a quiet night watching telly.
Tomorrow there are currently no plans.

- Weather: Sunny all day but cool with a strong breeze - temperature ranged from Min of 8.9° at 10:00pm to Max of 21.4° at 12:30pm.
- Wind: 20 - 43kph Southerly.
It wasn't as cold as I expected, so I was a bit warmer than I wished to be with my sleepingbag. We awoke about 7:20am and laid in bed watching 'taped' Sunrise, we had brekky and then I went riding while Marg buggered about at camp. It was a cool sunny, very windy day. When I got to the lighthouse, there were 3 dudes playing with a very powerful remote control 4WD, it was a ripper. As it was a southerly breeze, my ride back to camp was into a very stiff breeze. It was hard work.
After a shower and lunch, Marg and I drove to Kawana Shopping Centre for some food shopping and a coffee at Michels. The remainder of the afternoon was spent doing some washing and while Marg had a nanna nap, I was on the internet.
Dinner was fish n chips from "Reelax at Dicky". It was very YUMMA, fried flake and chips in beer batter, followed by a quiet night watching telly.
Tomorrow there are currently no plans.

- Weather: Overcast and cool with a strong breeze - temperature ranged from Min of 14.1° at 4:00am to Max of 19.3° at 1:00pm.
- Wind: 0 - 30kph Southerly.
It was a mild night and I used 2 blankets, as usual Marg used only 1 blanket. We awoke about 7:30am and laid in bed watching 'taped' Sunrise, we had brekky and about mid morning, we walked over the road and had a coffee then I went riding while Marg buggered about at camp. During the afternoon, I buggered about on my laptop, while Marg managed to have a nanna nap, before cooking tonight's dinner which was roast lamb and vegies. It was YUMMA. Followed by a quiet night watching telly.
Tomorrow there are currently no plans.
- Weather: Sunny and cool with a strong breeze - temperature ranged from Min of 9.8° at 4:30am to Max of 21.9° at 1:00pm.
- Wind: 20 - 31kph Southerly.
It was a cool night, I had previously stowed away my sleepingbag, so only had my 2 blankets, and I was a tad coolish, but Marg used only 1 blanket and was quite comfortable. We awoke about 7:30am to a beautiful sunny day with no clouds, so we laid in bed watching 'taped' Weekend Sunrise, we had brekky and about 9am, I went riding.
The highlight of my ride was watching the Westpac Rescue helicopter doing practice rescues at Kawana Surf Club, so on the way back from the lighthouse, I stopped for 15 minutes and watched the helicopter go through its paces. Typically, I forgot to take my camera with me, so I couldn't take photos. Ohh well, Shit happens.
I arrived back at camp and Marg still hadn't got dressed, she had been doing her nails. They did look different with 3 colours. Finally, we had lunch, Marg got dressed then we drove to Kawana Waters SC and did some shopping and had a coffee.
During the afternoon we had a lovely walk along the beach heading northwards then I watched the V8 Supercars, Lowndesy had an incident at the start of the race and this will be looked into later. Marg decided to have a nanna nap, so left me to watch the V8s.
Dinner was roast lamb sangas. It was YUMMA. Followed by a quiet night watching telly.
Tomorrow we are off to the Bribie Island Markets.
- Weather: Overcast and Sunny with a strong breeze - temperature ranged from Min of 14.6° at 4:30am to Max of 22.1° at 12:00pm.
- Wind: 20 - 39kph Easterly.
It was a mild night, I started off with just 1 blanket but pulled on my 2nd blanket around 5am, but Marg used only 1 blanket and was quite comfortable. We set the alarm for 6am and woke at 6am, went on the internet, had brekky and got ourselves organised and left at 8am.
We were driving to the Bribie Island Sunday market about 70kms away and hile on the island, we were going to visit Ken and Rosie who camp near us at Broadwater Tourist Park.
We arrived at the Bribie Island Art Centre, where the market is held and the gem club is located, at 9:05am. We found a parking spot in the near full carpark and walked amongst the stalls, checking them out until we spotted the
Bribie Island Gem Club. We introduced ourselves to the various members who introduced us to Bob, who gave us a guided tour of their club rooms, workshops etc, even the closed rooms, he opened and showed us, it is a very impressive club with good equipment. We managed to buy some rocks and told them we would return on 14th September for their 'Gem Festival', just a mere 292kms round trip from Southport and Bribie Island. After checking out all stalls and stopping for a sausage in bread and coffee, we rang Ken and told him that we would be at his CP in about 15 minutes, which is over the east side of the island at Woorim. As we parked and walked to the CP, Rosie met us at the front gate. We followed Rosie to their camp, where Ken was waiting for us, we sat inside, which was a great decision, as it rained after 10 minutes. Rosie made us coffee and cake, which we had, while chatting. We stayed a good hour or so and then did a bit of sightseeing around Bribie Island, before heading back to Dicky Beach.
Dinner will be frozen pizza. Followed by a quiet night watching telly.
Tomorrow nothing is planned.
No photos today, I took my spare camera batteries BUT left my camera at camp. What a dickhead!!
Our route to the Bribie island sunday markets. - 150kms.
- Weather: Overcast and Rainy - Min of 13.9° at 7:00am to Max of 22.4° at 11:30am.
- Wind: Calm.
It was a mild night, I started and ended with just 1 blanket, no wonder that I was a tad cool this morning. Marg used only 1 blanket and was quite comfortable. We awoke just after 7am and watched the 'taped' Sunrise. The weather was overcast and raining, so I didn't ride and stayed on the internet. Marg organised to meet Val and Bob for a coffee over the road at 10:45am, which we did. The coffee and conversation was good. About noon, I decided to risk it and go for a ride. It was beautiful and sunny until I got to Kawana Surf Club, when the heavens decided to open up and I got a tad wet. It still rode to the Lighthouse and then down the hill to the mouth of the Mooloolaba river before heading back to camp. Just after I arrived back at camp the heavens really opened up and it fell out of the sky, there was a torrent of water flowing down the road in our caravan park. We were mostly dry, only some of our bags of rocks got wet, which wasn't any drama. The front of our site has a low point which pools water and this water sneaked into Marg's special room and wet a couple of the bags.
During the afternoon, Marg sat in the annex and did some more of her skin polishing, while I buggered about on the internet and listened to the rain squalls come through.
Dinner will be nachos. Followed by a quiet night watching telly. Marg's happy as Big Brother is starting tonight.
Tomorrow nothing is planned.
The approaching rain squall.
Our camp is at Dicky Beach in the far distance, through that rain squall.
Mum, Look what I caught fishing! It's a big seal.
Surfs up but only ONE surfer is out. I know it's Monday, but that doesn't stop them here on the Coast.
Looking from the mouth of the Mooloolaba river towards where I have to ride.

The rain fell out of the sky about 8kms from camp and then continued while I was at camp.
- Weather: Overcast and No Rain yet - Min of 13.5° at 3:00am to Max of 21.6° at 11:00am.
- Wind: 15 - 24kph Southerly - South Easterly.
It was another mild night, I started with 1 blanket but ended up with 2 blankets. Marg used only 1 blanket and was quite comfortable. We awoke just after 7:15am and watched the 'taped' Sunrise. The weather was overcast with sunny breaks and no rain, so I went riding about 9am. Funny, just after 4 kms from camp, I noticed a couple of drops, but that was all. I continued to the Lighthouse, rode down the hill to the mouth of the Mooloolabab river where there were at least 10 surfers out. I rode back to camp without any dramas.
After lunch, we drove to Kawana Waters SC for some food shopping and a coffee at Michels. The rest of the afternoon was spent with Marg doing some more skin polishing of a garnet, it is looking really good. I buggered about on the internet. Val came over and invited us to drinks with their friends who flew up from Melbourne today. We met John and Lorraine and had a quiet drink and good conversation. They went off to 'our' club for dinner while Marg and I went back to camp for Quiche Lorraine, it was Yumma. Followed by a quiet night watching telly.
Tomorrow nothing is planned.
- Weather: Sunny all day but cool with a strong breeze - temperature ranged from Min of 11.5° at 1:30am to Max of 21.8° at 12:00pm.
- Wind: 24 - 48kph Southerly.
Today is our Bingo day at Dicky Beach. I am long overdue for a win, any win.
It was forecast to be cool overnight, so I unpacked my sleepingbag and used it as a blanket, consequently, I was a tad too warm. We awoke about 7:15am and laid in bed watching 'taped' Sunrise, we had brekky and got ourselves organised and left at 8:50am. We walked to our club and arrived just before 9am, found a table for the twoe of us, as Val wasn't joining us today, she as off to the Eumundi market ith Bob and their 2 friends (John and Lorraine). We bought our bingo tickets and Marg had in of $25 and I also won $25. Our Bingo at Dicky Beach, total outlay for 4 weeks was $210 less winnings approx $100 Total Loss approx $110.
After lunch at camp, I went riding to the Lighthouse. On the way, I nearly rode over a blue tongue lizard that laying in the shade on the bike path, I stopped and took a photo, by then the lizard had moved to a nature strip. Back at camp, Marg was relaxing by doing her crossword. We did walk along the beach, the tide was in and the waves were breaking everywhere, we sat on the rocks and watched the surfers try and catch the waves. Not many of the surfers actually caught a wave.
Dinner was beef schnitzel, it was YUMMA, followed by a quiet night watching telly.
Tomorrow Marg has a hair appointment, so I will probably go riding.
I nearly rode over this guy.
Better weather today.
I watched this yacht, reach into shore and then reach out to sea.
The surf was beautiful today.
It was Wednesday and the surfers were there, probably about 8 in total.
One of the guys was riding a malibu.
- Weather: Sunny all day but cool with a strong breeze - temperature ranged from Min of 11.6° at 4:00am to Max of 22.2° at 11:30am.
- Wind: 20 - 37kph Southerly.
Today is our 2nd last full day at Dicky Beach.
It was a 2 blanket night. We awoke to a beautiful sunny morning about 7:15am and laid in bed watching 'taped' Sunrise, we had brekky and got ourselves organised. Just on 9am, Marg walked over the road to the hairdressers, while I filled in my time by going riding to Point Cartwright Lighthouse, it sunny, cool and with a strong southerly blowing, the Coral Sea was quite rough with a nice swell rolling in. At the Mooloolaba river entrance, I watched the
Pilot Boat head out to one of the moored cargo ships off shore, also I watched the 2 guys go out in what I thought was sheer madness with the surf breaking off the point they are stupid. That maybe a harsh comment, but really the water was quite rough once you left the mouth of the river and there craft looked very weak and unstable.
While passing the Currimundi Lake on my way back to camp, I came across George, just slowly cruising near shore. See photo below. George is beautiful.
Back at camp as I walking over to the showers, I saw this mirage walking to me, it was Marg with her new hairdo. Aren't I a suck?
During the afternoon, we walked along the beach and found some more nice rocks, before heading back to camp. We spent most of the afternoon, checking out the 18 partially filled bags of rocks which live in the mighty Navara, this does not include the rocks that are in both wardrobes, both bedside cupboards, under my seat, beside my bed. SO when you list them like I just did, we may have gone overboard with our fossicking. We still have more fossicking to do on the Gold Coast, Casino, Stanthorpe, Glen Innes just to name some of our homeward bound fossicking spots.
Dinner was fish n chips at Reelax at Dickies and they would have to be the BEST fish n chips in the world. I have beer battered flake and beer battered chips while Marg had potato cakes or potato scallops. They were absolutely YUMMA. Followed by a quiet night watching telly.
Tomorrow is our LAST full day at Dicky Beach, I plan to ride in the morning and spend the afternoon, slowly packing up.
Today's weather.
The Coral Sea was a tad rough today.
Surfs up off the point.
The surf was beautiful today.
It was Thursday and the surfers were there, probably about 8 in total.
The Pilot boat heading out to the moored cargo ships offshore.
You wander why people get into trouble on rough days.
Wait until they round the point.
Isn't George beautiful?
- Weather: Sunny all day but cool with a strong breeze - temperature ranged from Min of 12.1° at 6:30am to Max of 21.5° at 1:00pm.
- Wind: 7 - 20kph Southerly to East to Northerly.
Today is our last full day at Dicky Beach.
It was a 2 blanket night. We awoke to a beautiful sunny morning about 7:15am and laid in bed watching 'taped' Sunrise, we had brekky and got ourselves organised. Just on 9am, I went riding to Point Cartwright Lighthouse, it was sunny and mild with a light southerly, the Coral Sea was flatter than yesterday. At the Mooloolaba river entrance, I watched the
Pilot Boat again head out to one of the moored cargo ships off shore, also I watched the surfers off the point.
My riding summary at Dicky Beach is: Total distance ridden 780.3km on 23 rides averaging 33.9kms.
Back at camp after showering, I drove the mighty Navara to top up with fuel and air, in readiness for tomorrow's departure to Broadwater Tourist Park in Southport.
During the afternoon, I packed up slowly and Marg went over to our club to play the pokies, SHE WON, about time too.
Just as I finished doing all I could do before finishing it in the morning, Marg walked in. We walked over to Reelax at Dicky and had a coffee, while there I gave the owner some feedback, she appreciated it. At 4:30pm, we had happy hour at Bob's van with Val, and their friends (John and Lorraine).
Dinner was cereal with fruit, we couldn't be bothered cooking anything. Even this was YUMMA. Followed by a quiet night watching telly.
Tomorrow we are driving the 160kms to Southport and can't wait to see our 2 'little' boys and families.
The current weather photo is worth a 1,000 words or more.
The shared path runs alongside Nicklin Way.
Riding down Oceanic Drive which has its own bike path.
Looking Southward from the Lighthouse.
Looking to the mouth of Mooloolaba River from the Lighthouse.
The surfers off the point below the Lighthouse.
Cameo appearance from Lazza.
A nice set coming in.
I watched this dude catch a few waves, while the other surfers tried too.
