- Weather: It was a wet and windy night, the minimum overnight in the fiver was 20.1°. It reached 18.6° at 12:30pm.
I am in a routine now, slept in until 7:30am.
It rained all night and finally stopped about 7:30am, only 68.2 mm of rain since Monday night.
No riding today, as it is still wet. It is Brisbane showday holiday today and the boys have it off, so Marg and I saw them. Luke has his car booked in for a tyre service, so I picked him up and drove him home, Marg showed Luke how to cook pasties, we also did the boys' tax returns, Jay and I picked up his 'new' used car, I took Luke back to pick up his car and mid afternoon, we finally left the boys' house and on the way back to camp, we called in and had coffee with Keith and Lucy, who live about 1km from our boys. We got back to camp and the sun came out, it was so beautiful in the sun again.
Tomorrow, we plan to do sweet FA.
- Weather: The rain had left, it was dry and sunny with a 20kph breeze. The overnight minimum was 11.7° at 6:30am. It reached 20.1° at 1:41pm.
I am in a routine now, sleep in until 7:30am.
It hadn't rained for a whole day, so life was getting back to normal, here in paradise, or at least, here on the Broadwater. I went for my normal ride out to the end of the seaway and then headed towards Surfers as I needed to ride a couple of extra kms to catch a guy on the Bike Vic forum. So I did... ride to Surfers and pass baudman on the BV forum. One interesting sight on the return trip back to camp, was watching a tightrope walker, walking a length
of seatbelt stretched between two wooden pier pillars just under the Ospreys' nest. It is called
Slacklining
Mid morning, Marg and I went to Super Cheap and bought some plain seat covers for Jay's new 'used' car, after that we picked a photobook that Marg created and ordered from Hardly Normal. Then over to Luke's house, he was working from home, so we thought that we would annoy him, because parents do those things. Anyway, we didn't stay long and went to Pac Fair to us locals, or Pacific Fair Shopping Centre to the Mexicians. Marg had a crepe and I had a very yumma omelette. While listening to Gold FM (92.5 on your dial), they were issuing wind warnings, saying that there were 90kph winds at Mount Tamborine in the Hinterland just inland from us. We arrived back at camp, and there was a hive of activity with a lot of caravanners pulling down their awnings and those that were leaving them up, were bracing them where possible. Our neighbour told us that the Caravan park workers had come around to everyone and told them to brace themselves for the wind. Our awning is still down from Monday night, so I didn't need to worry, but I still took down my Aussie flag. The wind during the afternoon hit 61kph, so it was quite strong, Marg and I decided to go The Sharks Footy Club at 4pm to play the pokies, have a few beers and then dinner and be home by 7pm at the latest.
At approx 3:45pm, I heard a thud outside and upon investigating, there is Marg on the ground, she had missed the last step and CRASHED TO EARTH. So at 4pm, we are at the Medical Centre waiting to be looked at. Marg couldn't walk, so I asked for a wheel chair and pushed her around in it. The X Ray dept closed at 4:30pm, so by the time we were attended too, we missed the X rays and were told to come back in the morning. The doctor gave Marg some pain killers, which took about 4 hours to kick in, we also picked up a pair of crutches. Marg is useless on crutches. Anyway, the two of us did not have a good night sleep. I felt sorry for Marg, but there wasn't much that I could do for her.
Thank God or your own diety, but the wind never increased above the 61kph during the afternoon.
Tomorrow, we return to the Medical Centre for X Rays.
Life returns to normal, after 2 days of wind and rain.
That bike certainly gets around.
He is bloody mad... but also very good.
- Weather: Back to normal in paradise. Cloudless blue skies with a light breeze. The overnight minimum was 11.1° at 5am. It reached 21.2° at 2:30pm.
I am in a routine now, sleep in until 7:30am. We both slept ratshit last night, due to the 'child bride' moaning, something to do with a sore left ankle and also waking me to get her some panadol at about midnight.. Bloody hell, I'm a great husband.
We arrived at the Medical Centre at 9:45am, got put on the list to see any doctor, but first we had to have an X Ray in Radiology, which is about 10 meters away
in the same building, a female doctor saw us and after viewing the X rays, she needed more info, so Marg went over to Radiology and then we sat outside the doctor's room, when she finished with her current patient, she saw us. I think that we were in the Medical Centre for 1 hour, in that time, we checked in at reception, which puts you on the waiting list for the next available doctor, we went off and had 3 X rays, we saw the doctor, we went back for more X Rays and then we saw the doctor again and all that was BULK BILLED, how good is that. I am telling our boys to go to this centre in future. Luke went to the doctor yesterday and it cost him $70, this place costs nothing, zilch.
By the way, Marg's ankle is not broken, it is sprained, so we are very lucky. She has to keep weight off it until Monday. As we were leaving the Medical Centre, there were a number of patients trying not to laugh at Marg on her crutches, but they were not succeeding. I was giving her heaps of encouragement, well sort of encouragement.
Tomorrow, Luke is coming around in the morning, to help me put the awning up again, as my co worker is incapacitated.
- Weather: A normal day in paradise. Cloudless blue skies with a light breeze. The overnight minimum was 8.7° at 6am. It reached 20.9° at 12pm.
I am in a routine now, sleep in until 7:30am. We both slept better last night, Marg's ankle is very slowly improving. A very quite day, Marg toggled between sitting inside the van or outside in the sun and shade.
I did go for a ride out to the seaway this morning, when I got back Luke rode his motorbike over to us, so he could help me put up the awning again, as my little worker can't help at present. So today, I did some washing and we sieved through some of the wash that we purchased from Sapphire.
Tomorrow, I will probably go for a ride and then have a quite day around camp.
A rough, but beautiful day at the seaway.
The Bombora.
A bit of spray.
Rough and Tumble.
A tranquil view of the Southport YC.
Momma Osprey or is it Daddy?
- Weather: A normal day in paradise. Cloudless blue skies with a light breeze. The overnight minimum was 11.3° at 6:30am. It reached 23.2° at 1pm.

I did go for a ride out to the seaway this morning, when I got back Luke rang to say that he was coming over for a few minutes. I again did some washing and cleaning, so it was a productive day. I did sit down and watch Season 1 of Seinfeld, I do enjoy his comedy.
Tomorrow, I will probably go for a ride and then have a quite day around camp. A very similar day to the past 2 days.
A nice small set.
The surfers are out in force.
Give me a gentle breeze.
- Weather: A normal day in paradise. Cloudless blue skies with a light breeze. The overnight minimum was 11.8° at 6:30am. It reached 23.7° at 2:30pm.
Marg's ankle is slowly improving, but she is bored shitless sitting around camp.
When I returned from my ride, Marg had been on the internet and wanted a motorised scooter, this wasn't practical. It weighed 136kgs and we couldn't take it anywhere, as I couldn't lift it. Yeah, I know I am weak. Instead we have a brand new 'Black Chariot" which is a Transit Wheelchair. We took it to Centro Southport Shopping Centre aka Southport Park for a test drive. We went to Michel's Pateriesse for a coffee, I pushed Marg in the "Black Chariot" and after coffee we went into the Shopping Centre into Target and Woollies, it was great fun, I didn't hit anyone or anything, but Marg did shut her eyes a few times.
Tomorrow, I will probably go for a ride and then have a quite day around camp. A very similar day to the past 2 days.
- Weather: A normal day in paradise. Cloudless blue skies with a light breeze. The overnight minimum was 10.5° at 6am. It reached 20.9° at 11:30am.
Marg's ankle is improving, she can walk with little weight on her ankle.
Before I left for my ride, Luke had rung and wanted us to pick him up in Brisbane at 1:30pm, as we didn't have anything planned we agreed to pick him up. So I went for my normal ride out to the seaway, another magic day weatherwise.
We left about 12pm and headed to Brissy, the traffic was light and there were no accidents, we arrived at Fortitude Valley about 1pm, picked Luke up and headed
back to the Gold Coast, dropped Luke off and went back to camp to change clothes. We went to the Southport Sharks Footy Club for pokies, beer and dinner, but I started -o feel a bit off, so we headed back to camp without having dinner, we will go back to The Sharks later. Hopefully, a good night's sleep will sort me out. We will see.
Tomorrow, we plan for me to push Marg along the bike path to the pier in the "Black Chariot".
- Weather: Another normal day in paradise. Cloudless blue skies with a light breeze. The overnight minimum was 11.5° at 4:30am. It reached 23.0° at 1pm.
Marg's ankle is improving, she can put a little weight on it.
I rode today as normal, it was another perfect day. Marg and I and the "Black Chariot" went to Australia Fair, I had a great time, pushing Marg around Oz Fair,
again I managed to miss everyone and everything. We had coffee, then visited many shops and finally, did some food shopping and then back to camp. There I left
Marg, while I went over the road to the Bob Jane T Marts to check out the trailer tyre that I buggered. Good news is that I may not have wrecked the rim, we will
know when we get the new tyre fitted. From there, I drove over to the Nissan dealer and booked the mighty Navara in for its 60k service and a recall about the bonnet latch.
Late in the afternoon, a guy came to our camp, it was David from Tassie another Trailblazer owner, he and his wife are staying in the same park as us for a week.
It was great talking to David, Marg and I will go over and check out David's 5th wheeler later.
Tomorrow, we plan for me to push Marg along the bike path to the pier in the "Black Chariot", we didn't do that today.
- Weather: Another normal day in paradise. Cloudless blue skies with a building breeze. There is a change expected later tonight. The overnight minimum was 14.2° at 6am. It is a new maximum on our trip, so far, at 1:05pm it is 27.0°.
Marg's ankle is continuing to improve, she can now walk on it but not far, hence the mighty Black Chariot.
I rode today as normal, it was another perfect day. I rode past David's Trailblazer, stopped and chatted for aw hile, then pedalled back home. After a shower and
a freshen up, Marg and I and the "Black Chariot" eventually made our way along the shared bikepath. I managed about a kilometer before we turned around and made our way back to camp, we then went over to see Georges and walked past David's Trailblazer, but they were out walking.
This afternoon, Marg is about to be wheeled upto the pool for some water exercise on her ankle.
Small surf with an offshore breeze.
Marg and her Black Chariot.
Seaworld in the background.
Soldier crabs by the hundreds.
Georges and Ian.
George and Marg.
- Weather: At exactly 12:10pm, it started raining, so I got up and closed all the hatches and windows.
The overnight minimum was 17.3° at 6:30am. Today's maximum was 17.9° at 10am.
Each day, Marg's ankle is improving.
I had organised to ride with David (next door neighbour) this morning, but as it was raining, we decided against it. I did ride as I had the appropriate clothing and I also love riding in the wet. My highlight of the ride was, as I was riding under the Ospreys' nest, there was a fish on the ground, obviously, it had fallen out of the nest. Or did it???? We will never know.
During the morning the rain continued but it was light drizzle. I drove to Australia Fair to buy drinks etc, the heavy stuff that we can't hang off the Black Chariot.
After lunch, as it has been raining for most of the day, I took Marg to Centro Southport for a coffee. I stopped in the taxi rank and Marg got out and limped the 10 meters to Michels, while I parked the mighty Navara. After coffee, Marg waited in the bus stop area, while I went and got the car and picked her up, sure as eggs, the bus came. We got out without any drama.
As it is damp outside, Marg laid on the bed and read and would you believe it, she fell asleep, while I did this and am watching the Seinfeld series, I am upto Season2 ep 6. It is still a brilliant comedy.
Yes. It does rain in Paradise.
Just a little.
Fish, fish.... I am sick of fish. Did baby osprey throw it out of the nest or...Did Momma or Dadda Osprey just drop it?
- Weather: Back to the usual, no clouds, blue skies, light breeze and NO rain.
The overnight minimum was 10.2° at 6am. Today's maximum was 19.5° at 3:30pm.
Each day, Marg's ankle is improving.
It was a beautiful ride out to the Gold Coast seaway, now that the weather is back to normal. Opposite Australia Fair, I nearly capture a photo of George taking off, so close, yet so far. After my ride I emptied the 'shitter'. About lunchtime, Marg and I took our chairs next door, and just sat in the sun and chatted to Wendy and Leo also from Melbourne. I did a couple of loads of washing, as it was a beautiful day just to sit around camp and do bugger all.
Jay rang to say that he and his girlfriend may call in later in the evening, that couldn't happen as Marg and I were having dinner with Keith and Lucy, who we met in Mt Isa on last year's trip. It was a great night at Keith and Lucys, Lucy cooked soup and roast pork, absolutely yumma. While we chatted, we had the TV on showing the election results, a bit like the old movie "Don's Party" with Graham Kennedy, a top movie. Anyway, we called into Jay's house on the way to Keith and Lucy, as they live about 1kilometer apart, and met Bec for the first time, she is a lovely girl.
Hukuna Matata - A large Catamaran moored in the inlet.
The weather is back to normal in Paradise.
The surfers are back. Did they ever leave?
View towards Marina Mirage.
View towards Main Beach.

- Weather: Back to the usual, no clouds, blue skies, light breeze and NO rain.
The overnight minimum was 8.6° at 6am. Today's maximum was 20.7° at 2pm.
Each day, Marg's ankle is improving.
Another magic day, so I went for my usual ride to the Seaway. I had to be at Jay's house at 10am with a trailer, as the boys are cleaning up around the house. Anyway, as I was riding along the bikepath about 2 kms from camp, I noticed a Corvette then another, then another and so on. I followed them and they were going to the Broadwater parkland opposite Australia Fair for a show and shine. I was in heaven, because back in 1974 I had an opportunity to buy a 1969 L71 Corvette for $7,000, but didn't. I have regretted that decision all my life.
At 10am, I was at the local Shell Service station hiring a trailer, then over to the boys' house. They have their rental inspection soon, so have done some pruning around the house and needed to get it to the tip. Guess whose car has a towbar. Good old Dads, thats who. So 2 trailer loads and a full Navara tray to the tip later, I was on my way back to camp. The boys' house does look nice after the spring clean in late winter.
As Marg is still helpless, I cooked dinner - fish, peas, carrots and mash potato. Bloody yumma, if I may say so myself.
