Snakes that I have encountered on my riding adventures.
24th March 2022 9:18am - An Eastern Brown snake crossing the gravel track.
It was BEAUTIFUL.
12th March 2022 - On the Federation Walk - The Spit, Gold Coast.
Same as below.
No Photo. While I rode along the gravel coastal path towards the Spit, I encountered a small Eastern brown snake, probably 3 foot long.
As I rode down the small decline and turned right to ride up the next small incline, which just happens to be a very fast section of my ride, a snake was halfway across the gravel path. I comfortably rode around him. I stopped but he had escaped by the time I was back at the spot. Bugger.
I like the coastal pythons because they are slow and non venomous, and I usually have enough time to take a photo, but the Eastern brown are quick buggers.
2nd December 2021 7:29am - A worker was holding a Coastal Python by the tail, I rubbed its belly.
It was absolutely BEAUTIFUL.
11th September 2021 - On the Federation Walk - The Spit, Gold Coast.
Same as below.

4th September 2020 - On the Federation Walk - The Spit, Gold Coast.
Same as below.
No Photo. While I rode along the gravel coastal path towards the Spit, I encountered a small Eastern brown snake, probably 3 foot long.
As I rode around the left hand corner towards the road(Seaworld Dve), less than 20 meters away, an eastern brown snake was crossing the gravel track. As it saw me, it sped up and then stopped and raised its head in a striking pose. Luckily, I was outside its reach. I stopped and quickly walked back with my phone at the ready to take a photo BUT the little bugger had done a 'runner' into the long grass. Snake 1 Frosty zero.
You definitely don't go looking for Eastern browns in long grass. I continued my ride.
2nd June 2018 - On the Federation Walk - The Spit, Gold Coast.
No Photo. While I rode along the gravel coastal path towards the Spit, I encountered a small brown snake, probably 2 foot long. As I rode over a slight rise and turning left, I saw a small thin snake, it definitely wasn't a python. I assume that it was a juvenile brown snake. I swerved a little and also lifted my foot off the right hand pedal. He quickly slide into the long grass. I stopped, but the grass was long and there was no way known, that I would walk into there to photo the snake. So no photo and I continued on my way.

15th August 2014 - On the seawall - The Spit, Gold Coast.
No Photo. The highlight was seeing the black snake sunning itself on the rocks of the seawall. I glimpsed it as I rode past and immediately stopped to take a photo, but I only saw it slither into a crevase before I could photo it.
29th August 2013 - On the Federation Walk - The Spit, Gold Coast.
No Photo. While I rode along the gravel coastal path towards the Spit, I encountered a small brown snake, probably 2 foot long, he made a very halfhearted strike at me but missed by heaps. Thank god.
9th August 2013 - On the Federation Walk - The Spit, Gold Coast.

27th August 2012 - On the Federation Walk - The Spit, Gold Coast.
No Photo. Retraced back along the coastal path, about 500 meters from the Spit, another bloody 'baby brown' snake, as soon as he saw me, he was off into the scrub.
26th August 2012 - On the Federation Walk - The Spit, Gold Coast.
No Photo. Riding from the Spit along the coastal path, I saw another 'brown snake' very close to where I saw Monty the Python. At the snake demo at the market, the guy said there were plenty of baby brown snakes along this shared path. I believe him.
24th August 2012 - On the Federation Walk - The Spit, Gold Coast.
No Photo. Monty couldn't come and see me, so he sent his little vicious cousin. A 2 feet 'brown' snake. As I rode along the concrete path just out the back gate of the Sheraton Mirage, I noticed a small snake approx 2 feet and about as thick as your thumb. He had nearly finished crossing the path, when he saw me, he lifted his head and headed straight to the scrub. I kept well away and did not stop for a photo session. I maybe an 'old fart' but I'm not bloody stupid. Well, maybe just a little silly.
