Today's highlight: Was riding with my youngest son Lukey. The last time that we rode together was 22nd August 2009.
Lukey on Friday bought himself an Electric Bike, as he had not ridden for over 10 years. While shopping Jodi his wife also bought a normal bike (not electric). I got a phone call from Lukey this morning, asking if we could go for a ride, if he could fit his bike in his car. With a bit of effort and removing his front wheel, it fitted.
While he was driving to me, I went through my cycling attire. Shock, horror, I found a brand new pair of padded cycling pants with the tags still attached and also a long sleeve cycling jersey and a brand new pair of cycling gloves. Lukey arrived and was quite happy to wear that and keep it for himself.
Now bear in mind, that Lukey hasn't ridden a bike for nearing 15 years, so his bike fitness is low... Also riding his Kawasaki Z900 motorbike doesn't count.
He wanted to ride out to The Spit, so we did.
We kept on the shared path all the way, except for 1 kilometer in Labrador as the shared path is crap. very narrow. We made to The Spit and along the way I am sure that I heard a grumpy, complaining man following me. He was feeling the ride, his bum, knees and wrists were sore, BUT we made it and both Lukey and I loved it.
He will now get a towbar and bike rack fitted to his car, then we can ride together and also have Mase ride with us, as Mase is dying to ride to The Spit.
It was a magic ride. I loved it.

Today's highlight: The joy of riding.
I am still riding my smaller route, to the Spit.
The weather on the Gold Coast was warm and sunny, with a Southerly breeze.
I left home about 6:04am, and rode Northward, to my Lands End turnaround point. Continued through the Broadwater Parklands over the Sundale Bridge and turned left and stopped at the Super Yacht jetty. Clive Palmer's Australia was still moored at the jetty. Continued through the Southport YC, along the jetties at Marina Mirage and then around the edge of the Seaworld carpark, stopped and took a photo, then continued along the shared path to The Spit.
Continued riding to the tip of the Seawall/Spit. I took some photos and ate my banana, then rode to the tip of the Moondarewa Spit, took more photos.
I left The Spit, and continued along the Shared path that runs parallel to Seaworld Drive. Over the Sundale Bridge and didn't stop for a coffee. I would have a coffee later in the morning at Joseph's Cafe at Labrador Park.
Arrived at home. Another magic, enjoyable ride.
7:30am - At the tip of Seaway/Spit.
Today's highlight: Where do I start...

Watching the 2 dolphins happily playing with a couple of boardriders.. Unbelieveable.
I am still riding my smaller route, to the Spit.
The weather on the Gold Coast was warm and sunny with cloudy patches, with a Westerly to South Easterly breeze.
I left home about 6:01am, and rode Northward, to my Lands End turnaround point. Continued through the Southport YC, along the jetties at Marina Mirage and then around the edge of the Seaworld carpark, stopped and took a photo, then continued along the shared path to The Spit.
Continued riding to the tip of the Seawall/Spit. Stopped halfway towards the end, when I saw a group of people taking photos of the 2 dolphins. They had been there about 3 minutes before I arrived and they were happily playing with the boardriders. usually the dolphins appear but don't hang around, this was something VERY SPECIAL. I think that they were there to welcome me back riding.
I took some photos and ate my banana, then rode to the tip of the Moondarewa Spit, took more photos.

8:09am - At the tip of Seaway/Spit.
Today's highlight: was STILL the absolute joy of riding.
I am still riding my smaller route, to the Spit.
Currently, the weather on the Gold Coast is absolute crap... so bloody humid. So my plan of attack is, try and ride when it is raining. Consequently, I get wet and the wind cools you down.
I left home about 5:22am, to try and beat the shit humidity. I got up and checked the weather it looked like it was about to rain, so I thought. Time to ride. It was only very light misty rain for most of my ride with a couple of sunny breaks then Misty Rains reappeared. The wind was quiet strong but it would be a tailwind from the Sundale Bridge to Home.
As usual, I rode Northward, to my Lands End turnaround point. Continued through the Broadwater Parklands over the Sundale Bridge and turned left and stopped at the Super Yacht jetty. Venus and Australia were still docked there. I didn't take any photos, as nothing has changed since my last 2 ride. Continued through the Southport YC, along the jetties at Marina Mirage and then around the edge of the Seaworld carpark, continuing along the shared path to The Spit.
Continued riding to the tip of the Seawall/Spit. Stopped and took my photos and ate my banana, then rode to the tip of the Moondarewa Spit, took more photos.
I left The Spit, and continued along the Shared path that runs parallel to Seaworld Drive. Over the Sundale Bridge and didn't stop for a coffee. I would have a coffee later in the morning at Joseph's Cafe at Labrador Park.
Arrived at home. Another great, enjoyable ride.
6:53am - At the tip of Seaway/Spit.
Today's highlight: was STILL the absolute joy of riding again..
Due to not riding for a long period, I am back riding smaller, easy to handle distances, consequently, I decided on short rides to the Spit.

As usual, I rode Northward, to my Lands End turnaround point. Continued through the Broadwater Parklands over the Sundale Bridge and turned left and stopped at the Super Yacht jetty. Today's highlight: was the absolute joy of riding again..
As I haven't ridden properly for 3-4 months due to my Doctor telling me not too, due to having skin cancers cut out of my hand. I decided on a short ride to the Spit.
I left home about 5:29am, to try and beat the shit humidity. I got up and checked the weather it had been raining and I thought. Bugger it, I will ride anyway. Stiff shit, if I got wet. Luckily, it was only very light misty rain for my whole ride. the wind was bugger all.
As usual, I rode Northward, to my Lands End turnaround point. Continued through the Broadwater Parklands over the Sundale Bridge and turned left and stopped at the Super Yacht jetty. Venus is still docked there, It was originally built for Steve Jobs and now his wife still owns it. Clive Palmer's "Australia" was also docked there. So I took some photos. Continued through the Southport YC, along the jetties at Marina Mirage and then around the edge of the Seaworld carpark, continuing along the shared path to The Spit.
Continued riding to the tip of the Seawall/Spit. Stopped and took my photos and ate my apple, then rode to the tip of the Moondarewa Spit, took more photos.

7:09am - At the tip of Seaway/Spit.
Today's highlight: still riding with my 9yo Grandson.
The weather was sunny, AND STILL BLOODY HUMID.
We had a North Easterly blowing us back homeward. We left home at 6:45am and home about 8:00am.
We rode the same route as yesterday, between Charis Seafoods and Biggera Creek. 2 laps.
This ride, we concentrated on Mase getting used to changing his rear gears. We struck a small problem with his rear derailleur. We could change from Gears #1 to #4 but it wouldn't change into #5 to #7. I will ring up the Bike Shop when we get home. So we continued on. Mase was changing front and rear gears and doing an (emergency braking.. when I told him too)....
Mase is definitely improving, still needs more practice. That will come with time.
Again it is great fun riding and communicating with Mase. Life is GREAT.
Mase's next ride will be when he gets home.
We bought Mase's bike from 99 Bikes and with a new bike you get a FREE Tuneup, so I rang Shaun at the shop, told him the rear derailleur problem and 1 hour later, Mase and I were watching Shaun doing the Free Tuneup. It took approx 30minutes. Back at our apartment, Mase tested his bike in our underground carpark and the bike now changes ALL gears.
We are so lucky to live opposite a beautiful Shared Path and Mase loved riding his new bike on it.
Today's highlight: still riding with my 9yo Grandson.
The weather was sunny, BUT STILL BLOODY HUMID.
We had a Northerly blowing us back homeward. We left home at 3:30pm and home about 5:00pm.
We rode the same route as this morning, between Charis Seafoods and Biggera Creek. 2 laps.
This ride, we concentrated on emergency braking. Mase handled this very well. The 1st emergency braking, Mase stopped on a sixpence, while a larger gentleman (me) had to swerve to miss him. All good. We also concentrated on Mase getting used to changing his front gears. We will concentrate of his rear gears next ride. As we rode back to Biggera Creek, Mase liked changing the front gears into an easier gear when riding into the wind.
Mase is definitely improving, still needs more practice. That will come.
Again it is great fun riding and communicating with Mase. Life is GREAT.
Next ride is planned for tomorrow morning.
Today's highlight: Riding with my 9yo Grandson.
The weather was overcast with the sun well hidden behind the clouds, BUT BLOODY HUMID. We have lived here now for nearly 7 years and the humidity still knocks the shit out of me. We left home at 6:25am and home about 7:30am.
As I haven't ridden for the past couple of months due to skin cancers recovery. All repaired at present, so time to ride.
It was convenient to have Mase stay for 2 nights, so I could teach him to ride his new Mountain Bike that he got for Xmas.
We rode around the Shared path between Charis Seafoods and Biggera Creek.
We managed a lap when Mase stopped, to test the playground near Biggera Creek. It passed. I said do you want to ride another 2 laps, he said 1 more would suit him. He appeared a bit buggered, check out his photo on the 'swing thingo'
So we rode another lap and then headed home.
It is great fun riding and communicating with Mase. Life is GREAT.
Next ride is planned for about 4:30pm this arvo, when the sun (if out) starts to hide behind the High Risers and cast shadows over the Shared Path.
Today's highlight: Another magic day.
As I haven't ridden for nearly a month due to my Doctor telling me not too, due to having biopsies taken from my hand. I decided on only a short ride to the Spit.
I left home about 8:18am, after going for a coffee and some shopping at Coles Lab Park. The breeze was slowing building from the East. The Broadwater was calm.
As usual, I rode Northward, to my Lands End turnaround point. Continued through the Broadwater Parklands over the Sundale Bridge and turned left and rode past the Super Yacht jetty, through the Southport YC, along the jetties at Marina Mirage and then around the edge of the Seaworld carpark, continuing along the shared path to The Spit.
Continued riding to the tip of the Seawall/Spit. Stopped and took my photos and ate my apple, then rode to the tip of the Moondarewa Spit, took more photos. During my lap, my friendly magpie attacked me once. No damage to me, as I am prepared for their attacks.
I left The Spit, and continued along the Federation Walk, through the Southport Yacht carpark, beside the Super yacht jetty. Over the Sundale Bridge and continued homeward, giving a lap of 'our' caravan park a miss.
Arrived at home. Another great, enjoyable ride.
9:55am - At the tip of Seaway/Spit.
Today's highlight: Another magic sunny day.
As it was blowing like buggery and very warm, I decided on 1 lap of the Spits, 1 lap of MacIntosh Island and not ride to Surfers.
I left home about 8:03am, after going for a coffee and some shopping at Coles Lab Park. The breeze was already blowing from the North West. The Broadwater was choppy.
As usual, I rode Northward, to my Lands End turnaround point. Continued through the Broadwater Parklands to MacIntosh Is, did a lap.
Took photos of the GC Supercars setting up for their 25th October round.
Over the Bridge at Narrowneck then turned left along the Shared Path, heading towards The Spit.
Headed off towards The Seaway/Spit, via the Federation Walk. Continued riding to the tip of the Seawall/Spit. Stopped and took my photos and ate my museli bar, then rode to the tip of the Moondarewa Spit, took more photos. During my lap, my friendly magpie attacked me once. No damage to me, as I am prepared for their attacks.
I left The Spit, and continued along the Shared Path that runs beside Seaworld Drive. Rode through Muriel Henchman park, which is an absolute mess, as the workers are expanding the carpark etc and everything has been bulldozed. Did a lap of the Seaworld carpark. The Seaworld carpark was 1/2 FULL as the school holidays have ended. Then rode around Marina Mirage, past Helitours which is on the jetty. Continued through the Southport Yacht carpark, beside the Super yacht jetty. The Google co-founder Sergey Brin's 73m Superyacht "Dragonfly" was moored there.
Headed to Cafe Rockpool. Stopped and ordered a Pepsi.
I continued homeward, giving a lap of 'our' caravan park a miss.
Arrived at home. Another great, enjoyable ride.
9:26am - At the tip of Seaway/Spit.

As I have been slack lately, I decided on a shorter ride, so I gave Surfers and a 2nd lap of MacIntosh Island, a miss.
I left home about 7:43am, after going for a coffee and some shopping at Coles Lab Park. The breeze was building from the North East. The Broadwater was calm.

Stopped and took my photos and ate my banana, then rode to the tip of the Moondarewa Spit, took more photos then did another lap to both Spits. During my 2 laps, I was hit 5 times by the same magpie.
